I am demanding a raise, or quitting. period.

He will look amazing and like the victim in the public eye, he is already nationally recognized as a good coach, he will probably make millions as a michigan or uconn coach, and it will leave ross, and the miami dolphins franchise looking even more like the ****ing joke it really is.

This is pathetic. We look pathetic. And i am ashamed to be such a big fan of this franchise.

i think he will be contempt to have a job in the NFL and will continue to coach his butt off for us. i think its good. one thing is for sure, he will revamp the offense and make a lot of changes in the offensive coaching staff to make a case for a contract extension.

I don't think Sparano is in a position to demand anything. There are still people out there to replace him.

I think he's a decent coach too. I just don't know if he's a SB level coach. If you don't mind topping out at 2nd round playoff exits then fine, but after watching the Patriots for the last 10 years I'm getting greedier and greedier. And goddamnit i want a championship before I'm 40!

If he quits, he gets squat from MIA and maybe an assistant's pay from another NFL team. How is that better than his current salary? He might be doing Ross a favor if he quits.

The Dolphins have looked pathetic the last two years when they were 7-6 and in the playoff hunt and lost the last 3 games of the season to finish 7-9. Both years 2 of the 3 games were at home.

Ross had every right to try and UPGRADE the coaching position. If it were a QB that collapsed at the end of the year two years in a row the coaches would be looking to upgrade that position. However, they most likely would hold on to the QB under contract until they did just in case.

The treatment Sparano got will be the EXACT same treatment Henne gets by Sparano this off season. Simply put, Sparano didn't earn the right to be treated any differently. Had Miami not gone through late season collapsed the past two years the past few days wouldn't have happened.

Rather than demanding a raise, Sparano should give back some of his paycheck he already received.

You are assuming he will make the changes you refer to. Revaming the offensive staff requires recruiting as well. And why would anyone want to come here? I just don't see it and I see even worse performance next season. Been a fan for almost 40 years and this is the lowest point I can remember in the franchise.

Oh please, Sparaon should give back some of the money that was given to him this year for what he put home fans and Ross through. Would you want to pay a guy $3 million for putting a product on the field that goes 1-7 at home, plays for FGs instead of TDs and then openly supports the OC for doing an excellent job when the team is 31st out of 32 teams.

Ross had EVERY right to try and UPGRADE the coaching position. This is exactly what Sparano will do to Henne this off season. If Miami is not able to upgrade the QB position do you think Sparano will then push for Henne to get a raise? NO WAY!

I will actually grow some respect for Tony Sparano if he says **** you guys, and walks out. If I was in his shoes that's exactly what I'd do. In fact, what he should do is hold onto the job and quit right before the season starts.

He's gonna feel very uncomfortable gong into camp. He has to. And he's going to feel even more uncomfortable every mistake this team makes next season, because right now the entire fan base is against him for the most part. I don't see how he can possibly coach this team with a loose state of mind, which is necessary for actually going out and winning football games.

This is a terrible situation for him. I don't feel sorry for him, because it's a business and he's being handed millions of dollars to do nothing but waste people's hard earned money, but still. This is going to be a very awkward season.

What the hell are you talking about? I never said ross shouldn't have found a new coach lol He should have let sparano go I think before doing so, as it just looks dick to hold on to him, but the rest you are yammering about you can go scream that at someone else sweet heart. It has nothing to do with me. And you are so full of it, I seriously doubt you have ever ****ed up at work and given your money back, so stop acting like someone else should to be honorable. Please.

He can get a Tower on the field stock it with beer and watch the players run laps all day ... game plan why bother. Just toss them a ball and say have fun. throw parties the night before games .. let players come and go as they please. What difference does it make. There is no reason for him to work at all. Hell I wouldnt even show up for the draft. Spend my time fishing ... if the owner doesnt like it screw him let him fire Sporano. He gets payed either way and there will be coaching positions open next year for him to leave for. He will do well in college.

It still makes me sick that we couldnt buy a coach for 8 million dollars a year.

Sparano has no bargaining power. If he quits he loses a few $Mil and he loses his job and he is not likely to get hired after his mess with the OL this past year.

But, the bottom line is, if this is bad treatment - are we going to insist on ripping Sparano when he looks for other players to replace starters that are still on the team under contract? Consistency in our argument demands it. From now own, the Phins, to show integrity, will have to release every starter if they are looking into signing or drafting a player who would replace that starter (even when those starters are below mediocre in their play).

You are what your record says you are and the past two years combined, Sparano is 14-18. That simply does not get it done in the NFL.

If anything, Sparano should be happy he has a job and a great salary. We are ridiculously spoiled if we get upset about a company looking to upgrade when we make $2-3 Million per and are not winning against the competition.

Define upgrade, a has been, a wash out, or maybe a 3-7th round pick to make a starter. I dont see how they could upgrade. If they cant buy a good coach how are they going to upgrade their QB? Should we pull a Ditka and trade all our picks to try and get a QB in the first round? If so who could start and survive much less be productive with the team we currently have?

Can't imagine Sparano and co. will not be trying to upgrade the QB position. Hard to imagine the Dolphins or any other team offering him a contract beyond this year unless the team significantly improves next year. My guess is they will identify a veteran QB to go after and try to make a trade (of course, would have to wait for CBA to be signed) or take a chance on a guy like Vince Young when/if gets released.

The point I was making in the post was if who they target decides not to sign for the Dolphins and go elsewhere does that mean Henne should go and ask for a raise b/c of the way he was treated? Hardly...

I did read your post "...after the **** he was put through."

What **** did Ross put Sparano through?

I would say it is just the opposite. Sparano has put Ross through **** by putting a team on the field the last two years that has collapsed at the end of the season and went a dismal 1-7 at home. And got paid $3 million to do so. Ross acted like any responsible owner would...explore options and try and upgrade the coaching position. Ross wasn't putting out the media reports the past 48 hours. That was just today's media just doing what today's media does, act irresponsibly by speculating.

I wasn't tying to single out you in particular. Your post appeared to me to embody the message I have perceived quite a few posts being generated now seem to claim that Sparano is some sort of a victim on behalf of Ross and the Dolphins.

Maybe I have read Sparano wrong, however I do not think he is that type of guy.

I think he can use this. Nothing motivates NFL players more than not being respected. The Patriots still use that and no team is more respected in the entire league.

    Playing the devils advocate!

If I am Ross, and Sparano asks for a raise, i fold my arms with one hand under my chin and say ok Tony, he is the deal.

I am willing to tear up your old contract right now. The new one will have the exact same salary but if you make the playoffs you get a million dollar raise. Go to the AFC Championship game and we'll make it 2 extra mil. Win the SB, and I'll pay you the exact same amount we offered Harbough...

    Deal Tony?

he would not get a HC job somewhere else. and if he gets a job as a coordinator, he loses some of his salary from Miami doesn't he?

    Tony has zero leverage.
