This whole thing is becoming more of a joke by the second. I am now in the camp of if you are going to fire the man, fire him. If you were going to keep him, then he should have been told from the plane last night that he was being kept.

Since when did Armando and his sources become reliable? The same Armando we love to bash while praising Lebatard for having bulletproof sources? The same Lebatard that said Harbaugh was a done deal..
The only ridiculous thing going on here is the innuendo and false reporting.. Which is certainly good for the media.. Perhaps they have finally found a way to increase their revenue and page views.. I'm glad we can take part in rebirth of the media by enabling this shoddy reporting.

You've got to be kidding me.

    This is just ridiculous.

Who was the source of the Tony is retained report? Parcells?

I would think he would be let go today since he only has 1 yr left on his contract, and i doubt Ross will extend his contract.

Just a thought I wouldn't be surprised if Ross cleans house today and hires Cowher

The sports media is starting to remind me of Perezhilton.com

Perhaps we can get Armando to dress in drag and start a rumors site so we can sit here all day and debate stuff that either hasn't happened or is rumored to happen.

You don't call a press conference to simply announce that nothing has changed.

There will simply be a statement released that Sparano will remain with the team.

No chance Ross/Ireland face the music on this one. The next time you hear from Ireland will be his once a year pre-draft press conference. Otherwise, only poor Tonyt has to face the media.

This whole franchise is becoming a joke of epic proportion. I remember when we were the class of ALL sports teams in any sport.

Will someone please allow the Robbie family to buy the team and run it.

The Robbie team also held players out of training camp year in and year out.. Cheapest owners out of the 3 we have been around.

So the media goes "on alert" for a statement to be released? That seems a little dramatic.

I just found what happened with Harbaugh. Ireland found out his mother was a hooker. Finatic8480 gave me the scoop.

Guys.....this isnt over I dont think. I think its over as far as Harbaugh is concerned.....but....dont hold your breath that Ross makes a run at Cowher.....

One way Ross could fix this is to now blow it all up...and start over.

    Or Gruden.

The reports were that Gruden was fine with Ireland and Nolan but wanted like $10 mill per year.

That extra $2 mill might be worth it to Ross now.

At some point... you need to start pointing fingers at the media. The Fins havent come out and said anything one way or the other throughout this entire process... but the media keeps trying to beat Ross to the bunch and is all over the place.

I said this in multiple threads already...

I am not so sure we should jump to conclusions...Unless I missed something, the ESPN report came from Chris Mortensen who was late and frankly wrong on some info earlier in the week. The article posted on ESPN says Ross did in fact talk to the agent when he flew south. I do not think this courtship is over...

"Ross resumed the meeting Thursday night with Harbaugh's agent, David Dunn, in Southern California after the Dolphins owner traveled south to satisfy an unrelated business commitment following his meeting with Harbaugh, the sources said."

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5997519

People are jumping on board because "NFL sources" told Chris Mortensen that Sparano was being retained? The same Chris Mortensen that has been late and wrong at times all week...Lets wait it out and stop speculating because it seems things are going both ways now with the media knee capping each other trying to be the guy to break the true story.

The way this situation has been handled, why would Cowher want to come here now. Remember, he came from an org. that, by all accounts, the ownership is top tier.
Now few people really know the "sources" and how much is true about Sparano/Harbaugh/etc... but the fact Ross hasn't ended the nonsense would detour anyone that is used to being in a PROFESSIONAL situation. Best bet now is go all in with Sparano and spend what it takes to get him whatever he needs - OC/QB, or fire Sparano and hire a coordinator.

I love that you guys are catching on to what a fraud the little clown is!

Maybe Ross was informed of the backlash from the fans! I know I emailed and left a voicemail to take me off season ticket list! Not a chance I am buying Clubseats to that side show!

Guys, lets now do this to ourselves, I think for the sake of all our of sanity lets accept Sparano as the HC and move on and forget about this. If anything else happens then great but for now we are in football hell.

Lets just settle down and ride the wave til the dust clears...Seems like the media is trying to knee cap one another to be the first to break the story that is in fact true. Nothing is seemingly certain atm and I would honestly find it hard to believe that Sparano is coming back after what has transpired...

Why are people still harping on the "hooker" question. Bryant's mom was/is a crack head hooker. Right? If you're about to offer someone millions of dollars it's good to know things like background etc. If a player is emotionally f'd up then you may not want him around.

Because it is a black eye to the organization and in any other company if a high level officer ask that in the interview it is a major lawsuit. The guy is a ego maniac and a glorified talent scout! He has no business running this team just another " Friend Of Bill"

    From ESPN:

    Dolphins' non-Harbaugh plan

    7:09AM ET
    Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins' pursuit of Jim Harbaugh is off, according to a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Thursday night.
This leaves the Dolphins in a very strange position when it comes to incumbent head coach Tony Sparano -- who was never fired, and had to watch as his owner and GM tried to negotiate a new deal with another coach while he was still on the payroll. Mort reports that the team will be retaining Sparano, though some other changes will be made.
For a clue on what those changes may be, we go back to what ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter said on "Sportscenter" on Thursday afternoon. Schefter reported then that there was a Plan B; namely, retaining Sparano and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, then finding an offensive coordinator to work as part of that unit.
The possibility exists that since the Dolphins now face a disappointed and/or confused fanbase after the Harbaugh debacle, they'll target a "big name" offensive mind -- possibly a former NFL head coach -- as their next OC. The name drawing the most buzz on the potential OC circuit right now is former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. McDaniels turned down the opportunity to be the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, but ESPN's Ed Werder has reported that he's set to interview for a position with the Minnesota Vikings, possibly as a potential replacement at OC for Darrell Bevell, whose fate is up in the air.
Some other former NFL head coaches that fall into this category and could get a look under this scenario are Jim Fassel and Brian Billick, though both men have also been linked to head-coaching opportunities elsewhere.
Interestingly, for the Dolphins, it appears the 2011 offseason is going to bring them a new OC, a new starting quarterback and at least one new running back (amongst others). This offense will look quite a bit different than the one we saw close out 2010.

Lawsuit? No. Trying to find out the background of a person you may offer a multi-million $ contract to is not wrong. Could he have worded the question differently? Maybe, but it still begs to reason that what Ireland did was his job. Again, Bryant's mom is a crackhead hooker. Nothing to sue about when it's the truth. He never slandered or defamed Bryant or his mother. It is what it is...

    Friend MarinePhinFan is right:
it is only good business to get things out in the open & see what the reactions are to the truth you will inevitably have to face with the press & public. lots of money, big investment + unstable, volatile, personality = major concerns worthy of hard, honest scrutiny. Ireland acted in our best interest. He acted responsibly.

Ummmm yeah lawsuit! First of this is America and like it or not you can sue anyone for anything at anytime. I have conducted interviews for a pretty respected career field and I can promise you that if I addressed a candidate like that at the very least I am never interviewing again worst case I am fired. That is what the background check is for, you already have it verified, and by the way his mother has no effect on his ability to do the job he seeks. She is a second party and that is what it is. Ireland screwed up plain and simple he does it a lot.

I think you're missing the point of the question. It wasnt to determine whether his mom was actually a prostitute or not, it was to guage his reaction when provoked. Asking anyone that is going to piss them off. When you have Dez Bryant in front of you, a guy with character issues, and with a family full of character issues, you know he's going to react somehow to that line of questioning. Irealand I'm sure had no interest whatsoever in Bryant's mom being a prostitute or not, he wanted to push Dez, make him uncomfortable, and see how he would react to an adverse situation.

Well it really affected his ability to play for Dallas didn't it ? All those TDs he scored as a rookie ?

Meanwhile, we had lots of Fist Pumps for Field Goals, in losses to the Browns, Bills and Detroit, in a row at home.

Yeah, who needs the son of a hooker.
