Just saw Adam on ESPN. He said MIAMI NEVER OFFERED HARBAUGH ANYTHING! this is big and he emphasized it several times. They apparently just wanted to feel him out. He says the phins realized they would rather make offensive coaching changes than an entire regime change. Again, he said they never offered Harbaugh.
lmfao! how can the media go to ****ing work knowing they were reporting 8/mill a year?!?!? this is insane.....lmfao
Harbaugh is a SON OF A ***** if this is true. The only person that gains anything from these false reports is Harbaugh. If this UNCONFIRMED report is true, I hope Harbaugh chokes on the extra cash he made from this fiasco.
I don't think the media guys ever reported anything wrong (with the possible exception of the done deal folks). Here's what I think happened: The Dolphins leaked that they were willing to make Harbaugh the highest paid coach in the business. No other source for that given that they hadn't even been in California yet by the time it broke. Makes sense too: They wanted to feel out Harbaugh, they wanted to make certain that Harbaugh knew what they were offering and they couldn't actually make him an offer due to league rules. So they leaked it. Easiest, cleanest way. And then, apparently, they didn't like the way Harbaugh was responding.
hey padre - yes Schefter did say that they couldnt have made an offer anyway b/c of the Rooney rule. this all makes sense. i think the Media went wild when Ross went to meet with him. . . he most likely WAS WILLING to make the huge offer if Harbaugh expressed serious interest etc. but that never happened. perhaps it was mutual. After all, no one knows what sparano was told and what Ross and Ireland were thiking/looking for.
I hate the ****ing media. I'm done with this story. Come get me when theres an official announcement by the Fins one way or another... Until then... I'm not going to follow this nonsense...
I don't know about that, I mean how many deals are made in sports today with a nod and a wink? Plus I don't see why you can't specifics without formally extending an offer.
Who knows what to think anymore??? Reports of what we offered him....of him accepting the parameters of a deal....not being enough money.....rushing to get a "Rooney" interview in.....none of it was true? Was everything just made up and added to like a game of telephone? This one stinks from head to toe...all inclusive stink for all involved
Keep in mind that Harbaugh was very close to a deal with San Fran at that time. You can't call Harbaugh to say, hold the horses, we offer you more (not without San Fran going all tampering charges on you because you clearly broke the Rooney Rule). But what you can do is tell a guy in the media you are willing to outbid San Fran. Easy and clean.
I agree Hermano, call me when it/whatever is official. Media is knee capping each other and we may be trying to save face. Who knows...
I doubt that the Rooney Rule had anything to do with this. If Ross and Harbaugh had agreed to the priciples, the "Rooney" would have been interviewed and then the Dolphins would have "officially" announced the hiring of Harbaugh. The Rooney Rule is nothing more than a slap in the face to all minorities and in no way, shape, or form affects the hiring process other than maybe to delay the official announcement.
Surely this info comes from the Dolphins in an effort to save face, no? Now that they are going to keep Sparano, it makes sense to paint the last two days as a fact finding mission other than what it really was. As padre points out, there was probably never an explicit offer worked out due to the Rooney Rule. But the notion that they hadn't gone back and forth on terms and probably come to a dollar amount acceptable to all sides strains credibility far past the breaking point.
Whether they offered him a contract or not is really irrelevant. The fact is that the season ticket holders, (I have four season tickets), are not just going to keep paying for tickets to watch this team continue to lose, year after year. By keeping Sparano, Ross has lost a lot of season ticket holders for next season and possibly beyond. I know I have no intention of renewing my season tickets and I have been a season ticket holder for nearly 40 years. Several other season ticket holders I know also are not going to renew their tickets next year either. The one positive for fans who do decide to go to the games next year is that there should be a lot of excellent seats available for purhase. The bad news for all the Dolphin fans who live in South Florida and sit at home and watch the game on TV. I expect that next year the vast majority of the Dolphin home games will be blacked out and if you want to see the Dolphins play. You will either need to purchase a ticket or travel out of the black out zone to see the game. As for me, I plan to spend a lot more time on the golf course during the Dolphin games next season. When Ross shows that he really is serious about bringing a winning football team to Miami. I'll reconsider purchasing season tickets once again.
i heard Schefter on Sports Center. but here is a link to a seperate interview he did this morning. he confirms no offer was made but that "exploratory talks" were conducted he says they beleive the phins are going to try to court a new OC etc. http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/sports...c-i-think-rex-ryan-just-talks-he-doesnt-care/
They can hire or make an offer to whomever they wish. If they do not interview a minority candidate they would have to pay a fine, ala Detroit.
great man thansk! ill stay at my familys boca house and go to a buncha games! hey how come u never didnt renew your tickets before? i mean we havnt won a superbowl since 73 . . . thanks for jumpin ship! i appreciate your seats!
I think I am going to be an NFL reporter as well. I am just going to make things up from my seat here and then correct things when the truth comes out. BTW, I want to be the first to report that Ross is offering Don Shula 10 mil per season to come out of retirement. Ireland is going to give Marino a workout to see if he has anything left in the tank BUT Henne has been told that he will remain the starter going into next season. Lastly, Ireland is going to trade our 1st round pick this year for Alex Smith.
Oh my you are a really bad man, a very bad disloyal man. 40 years and you are so awful you need to just go away and root for another team you terrible awful horrible fan, you were never a fan in the 1st place. (sarcasm mode off).....
And you enjoy whats been going on ? You enjoy 1 and 9 in the last 10 games ? You want to pay for more of that crap ?
Hey no doubt, again if my opinion is wrong whatever, it was just an opinion, but what is the purpose of reaching out to Cowher, Gruden, and flying to see Harbaugh, if you are going to retain Sporano?? to scare him?? why not sit him down you know man to man and say, "TS your on the hot seat, oh and fire all of your coaches and start again with Nolan" Why would a business savy gentlemen such as Ross, who has been caught in a couple of lies already, keep the same failing business model in the face of what sure is to be loss ticket sales, if things remain status quo? If there is no other better option than what you have, after all other chances to upgrade have been dissolved, would you as a business owner cover your mistakes to save your product??
Wow. Another ridiculous turn of events. I think I'm done with this story and this site for a while Nothing against this site, but it keeps luring me here to keep reading this stuff, therefore its the devil too! Going on a business trip next week to Toronto is going to be great for me, I only wish it was this week though so I could have missed out on all this fiasco
Do you have some link to where he said this? And who told you that Peterson is involved? Was it the same people who told us that Harbaugh would be our next coach?
Let the vultures surround the dead carcass that was the Miami front office. They will be picking the bones clean on this situation for a little while, then they can bash all that is Miami Dolphin football, including the fan base.
