A few weeks ago I read, from a number of sources, that we could tell the owners feelings on a new CBA being reached in a timly fashion by how they handled firing or keeping coaches. The owners of teams, who they believed to be playoff teams, would not risk making massive changes IF they thought a new agreement was not forthcoming quickly. It made no sense as there would be no time to implement new systems, no FA for their type players, and no player trades. We've seen those type of teams, Minny, Dallas, Houston, Cinci, and the Jags stay the course in keeping things pretty much in place. The bad teams fired coaches, not looking to 2011. And then there is our team having a problem in making up it's mind. This indicates to me that the owners do not see a deal being struck any time soon.
Agreed 100%, this is my issue with bringing in a whole new staff. They will not have a chance to implement their style or bring in their players in time, 2011 will be a waste, esentially. While teams like the Jets and NE will do the same old same old and be 10 paces ahead from the start.
My understanding is that Ross wants to keep Nolan and Ireland. IF Harbaugh is OK with that, so am I. We were going to get a new OC regardless. I do not see where a change in our O could hurt, regardless of time, unless the new HC wanted a WC offense. Hell, I could settle for: Bess, you go to that marker, and cut in. Everybody else GO LONG. LOL
Why else would Andrew Luck not enter the draft? He was nearly guaranteed #1 overall unless cam newton reinvents the position as we know it on monday. After the Duck's beating Stamfords clearly not making the championship next year, so is a Heisman that important? I understand not wanting to go to the panthers but when i heard all the Harbrough announcements ( should know by know not to believe anything not in paper yet but I was excited and hopeful for the future!) I was hoping he'd pull a Manning/Elway and say he'd sit for anyone but the Phins. I'm guessing the reason they both stay is there wont be pros for at least part of next year
