This is what we need at QB...(ALL 48 Dan Marino TD passes in 1984)

If we get a QB like this we are in the Super Bowl with the team we have now.

And searching for what we need at QB and should not stop until we have someone close to Marino starting for us.

This is very difficult to watch looking at the duds we have at QB on our roster atm. :pity:

    A REAL NFL QB:

You mean this is what we had.
We'll never have another Marino again.
    He broke the mold.

I'm sorry...there was just no one else like him before or since. Of course there were/are QB's who compare, but those who think QB's like Brady is better than this, well, they must not have lived through Marino-era.

And I really feel sorry for them too.

(And I'm just making a point. I DO NOT want to turn this into a "Brady vs Marino thread)

I have every game from the 84 season on DVD. It was magical to live it the first time.
Just as fun to go back and watch these days.

EDIT: Actually I should say I have most of the games from that season.
    Didn't keep the losses.

On a day like today I needed that...

Seeing Dwight snap it to Danny and Danny fling it to Clayton...man, I miss those days.

So you're telling me that all we need to do is draft a future hall of famer at QB who will shatter all previously established NFL passing records and we'll be a winning team again? Damn man, you should work for ESPN with that kind of analysis.

He could call plays. Thats not happening under this coach. When JJ shut him down on that, everything went to sh!t. Our current coach said we had a good running game this year. I think he is a good coach but he needs to point some fingers and get some things done. We play scared.

Can we please, Please do everything we can to draft a legit, bonafide 1st round Qb this year! Trade the whole damn draft if we have to but move up and get us a QB!

Ummm...I said right in my original post:

I know we will probably never see another Marino again. I just want someone close to that good. That is not asking too much. Never stop looking for our starting QB until we have one close to as good as Dan Marino was.

Christ, I'd be happy with a Bob Griese clone. He could throw pretty well when asked.

We need more than a QB. Thats maybe half of the offensive troubles. Scheme was a big problem. Predictability and the lack of ability to adjust to coverage by the coaching staff was horrible. Nobody in the history of the position would have has an outstanding year under center the way this team was coached this year.

We had a couple of big plays at the end there.....because Thigpen and Marshall went against the coaches and changed the plays.

I agree, but with the departure of Henning that problem has at least started to be addressed.

Amazing how quick Danny would make his reads. When he made the decision to throw that rocket was outta there. Avg hold time 2.5 seconds.........smokin.

Guys, this is fantastic to watch, but unfair. It seems to expose Henne for what he is, or more appropriately, for what he isn't. But Marino had Duper, Clayton, Moore, Cefalo, McDuffie, Nathan, Jensen, Hardy and Rose. He could make those quick reads because his people could get open, fast, downfield. Henne looks downfield, he sees no one open and Marshall is doubled. Doesn't matter how fast he reads.

I know Henne's not even a shadow of Marino, who was some kind of space alien freak, not a human being at all. But he has no receivers remotely like Marino had. Could Marino win a Super Bowl with what we have today? No way; he never won one with what he had then. We need a LOT more well-coached athletes playing well together, not a superstar. (And yes, a new quarterback).

We dont need Dan Marino, we just need a QB ala Jim Kelly (great but not all-world) and we'd be fine with that.

What we have now only barely rivals Jay Fiedler.

may favorite one is at the 1:00 minute mark against the pats. gorgeous. the release is obvious, but the touch on the flare routes and fades is really amazing to me

clayton looks like a cartoon character when he runs lol. like his body is struggling to keep up with his legs

And look at the speed of Duper. Dolphins need some speed at WR. [If only Ireland didn't drop the "Is your mom a hooker"? question] Maybe Wallace or Moore develops, Moore[or was it wallace?] had that nice run after catch against Oakland.

Dan was so good at reading defenses and knowing who was going to be open before they were actually open. He knew who he was going to throw to usually as soon as he hit the end of his drop back.

Right know there are only a handful of QB's even capable of duplicating that effort. For me this video shows how raw Henne really is, and even further strengthens how much work he has to do. Henne definitely has his work cut out for him.
