I've stated in previous threads that IF we were to go for a QB in free agency, this would be the one I would want us to get.

If Stephen Ross and Jeff Ireland play their cards right...this might be an expensive free agent aquisition, but quite possibly one well worth it.

    Thoughts?

Didn't learn your lesson from the A.J. trade. Kolb is not a good QB. Smoke and Andy Reid mirrors.

We can want someone all we want. How about we wish for a OC and then find a QB. We have plenty of time to debate QBs until we can actually court them but I want to know who is going to call the shots, as we can get them now, and that is going to narrow down the prospects at QB. And No to Kolb, I agree, it's Reid's system that makes him look good.

Well, of the QB's everyone's been talking about nabbing in free agency, I'd rather have Kolb over Orton, Young et al.

Mind you, I prefaced all of this with "IF" we went for a QB in free agency...IF.

Don't get me wrong. I do agree with what you're saying...get an OC FIRST before even thinking about a QB. A QB does have to fit an OC's offensive scheme. I just can't see Orton or Young fitting in an OC's offensive scheme any better than Kolb could...and Orton/Young have been through different OC's and not shown any barn storming improvement in performances.

That's just how I see it.

I'll say Jerry Jones falls in love with Vince Young and uses the local boy to put butts in his expensive stadium seats and makes Romo available. Ireland and Sparano pull the trigger beause of their ties with him and we have Ray Sherman for OC. The Dallas/Miami Connection continues in 2011.

Based on what? His 4 starts in the NFL?

I'd give up a mid-round pick for him, nothing more though.

If we don't do something at QB we fated to the same outcome, maybe even worse next year. I think we may have to do that to blow the whole thing up rather than take the band-aid approach.

Let me start by saying, Kolb will NOT be a FA. The way Michael Vick plays, the Eagles know they need a capable backup and for what Kolb is making in 2011, the only way he is not an Eagle is if some team is willing to give them a high 2nd or 1st round pick. Did you see the hits Vick took yesterday? This guy will be luck to make it through a full season with the abuse he takes. Kevin Kolb will be an Eagle next year whether he likes it or not.

    .

My guess is Philly will be asking for a 1st or two Seconds. It's such a risky move, and Kolb doesn't appear to be a high-reward guy.

Not to mention you have to extend him, in addition to those picks. I think the draft is a better option.

Please stop any A.J.-Kolb comparisons! A.J was never drafted to be the QB of the future, and A.J. was never given the reigns to the starting job at any point, with McNabb being jetisoned. Never! Kolb was supposed to be the guy this year before he got hurt, and then Vick happened. Kolb can play!

I do think it is important to see what the new O.C. brings to the table first, and make sure that Kolb can fit into the system, but Kolb is probably as good as we can get this offseason. If we can, for Marino's sake, let's do it!

Well based on Eagle QB's after they leave Reid, based on what the Eagles will want for Kolb (High round pick)

I personally would not touch him, of all the QB's talked about, Orton would be the safest pickup

Without a new CBA in place, we cannot trade picks for players, cannot trade players, and cannot sign any FA. Based on that, and seeing available QBs out there, I'm thinking Henne will follow Sparano by keeping his job.

I'm also thinking that, a year from now, we will be happy with both. Just a gut feeling.

early as of yet to over speculate but Kolb is one of many possibilities that will/could emerge
without a doubt he has franchise potential & is ready to step up & start under center
personally, I think the QB issue is more important to resolve favorably than the OC position

    priorities for 2011:
    QB
    OC
    OffensiveLine
    RB

i think kolb would be our best option. i say we get him or give henne another year under a new offense. i still think we haven't given henne enough time. he only has one full season under his belt. minus 2 pennington plays and some thigpen plays and a bunch of wildcat crap. if henne doesn't do good next season i'll join the band wagon to get rid of him, but i need to see another year of henne first. if we bring someone in to compete and they win the job, i'm ok with that. i think kolb would be best.

I'm usually with you 23, but I'm not sue you can say that "without a doubt" I mean what has the guy really dont to take any doubt away that he's ready to be an NFL starter. Like many have said before he looks good in the same system AJ Feely looked good in and we all know how that went. Unless we are bring our OC from that organization I'm not sure its worth the risk compared to what they will be asking.

Kolb has been in the league for four year, one more than Henne. To date, he was in 19 games, completed 61%, with 11 TDs, and 14 picks. His career rating is 73.2, and this year he is at 76.1. Now, he wants to be the starter or leave.

Be still my heart, he is the answer. Trade whatever it takes. LMAO.

Oh yeah, think Kolb had "just a bit" better coaching and talent?

For whatever it's worth, AJ was actually "better" in five games, throwing for 8 TDs and 8 picks. His rating for the two games he played, before trading for him, was an astounding 122. Great move.

Who was better AJ or Pat White?

Why do we think Kolb would be released when Philly was ready to start him at the beginning of the season? And, then, the only reason he was sent to the bench was injury. No way can Miami trade any more draft picks, period.

One of the flaws that has plagued Miami is they are trying to build a winner in one or two years. Or they think they are only 1-2 pieces away, so they trade draft choices. Thus, Miami has two picks in the first three rounds (while the Patriots have six).

    Friend Da 'Fins:

it is what it is: we need a QB & they are expensive
the Eagles & the Patriots have cleared that hurdle
unfair comparison, we cannot compete w/o the QB

Miami has to step up & go for the big brass ring this year
there are numerous possibilities arising in the NFL & draft

if Miami could attain a pro-bowl caliber Center & a Franchise QB
we could put a team together that could compete in 2011
not too much to ask, very doable. just focus on two positions
& the rest of the offense will step up, in both the run & the pass

only two positions & we could turn the corner

If we can't trade because of the labor negotiations then it appears Henne is the way. I need to go cancel my NFL ticket for next year:wink2:

Palmer's being retained because there simply are no franchise QB's out there right now, and mediocre is better then in the cellar

Its ok......Cincinnati is used to status quo

He isn't a big upgrade at this point from Henne. Both young, have a good arm and have limited success in games and some glaring holes to shore up in their games.

I agree with posters who believe a 5th or so pick would be a good trade for him but sending over a second or a first to get him doesn't give the team much advantage for what your giving up.

I would prefer we bring in Orton to compete with Henne

if it were a choice between Orton or Kolb.......Orton for sure. Not either if there are other options. Orton has been with 2 different teams in 5 years and has a Completion percentage of 58.1, and A qb rating of 79. I think Orton brings more mediocrity.
