http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/jan/10/rivera-interviewing-panthers-today/ Idk how I feel about that. Guess it couldn't be much worse, right? The whole fist pump thing is hilarious, btw.
Well at least he had 1 really good year as an OC, which is more than I can say about some of the other names that I've seen mentioned by the media.
Go Canes! Former "Cane was also a dark horse candidate for the UM coaching job that Al Golden was given.
similar to cameron who he coached with in san diego. his stint in cleveland would make you believe he is a bit more pass first type of guy. lots of personnel packages, movement and formations. influences would be primarily norv turner, cameron IMO but he has been under other offensive minds so he probably has a few other influences to draqw upon basically a power run game with a more vertical approach then Henning's. the problem is its very complex and requires an offensive line that is equally adept at run blocking and pass blocking IMO. If we hire him I wouldnt be surprised if we suck at it for the first year as we learn the system also bit of warning, his browns team shocked the world in 2007 then fell apart in 2008. you better get him some players or we'll have no improvement
He actually got Derek Anderson to the pro bowl one year, and the Browns in the playoffs. Had them 8th in pts scored and 8th in yards gained in 07. In 2008 they were pretty putrid on offense, but Anderson was playing like crap (like this year), Lewis was not running real well, and Winslow was hurt like half the year which didn't help either.
Thanks, was just on profootball reference and it had them as #1 in the North, so I just was thinking they made the playoffs (couldn't remember).
I'd like to see Chud come here as an assistant to an Al Saunders. It would further his mind in the Coryell offenses and let him take over in a year or two..
i did like what i saw what he did with anderson that year... he made him pretty much a "boom or bust" where he took shots down the field (where henne should with his arm) even though it meant possibly more risky passes. Turned out great that year but anderson showed his true colors the next. Might be good for henne to have chud
that would be a dream. at least we stay with the coryell based system we currently use although we go from the joe gibbs version to the cam cameron/ norv turner version. he's a bit more aggressive than henning but like henning he will play off what the defense shows IIRC.
2008 was the year Joe Jurevcius had a staph infection before the season started, then was out for the year and then forced into retirement. Winslow also was hurt then also had a staph infection. He had to miss a few games. Looks like Chud caught a bad break that year after a good 2007 which was immediately followed by a contract extension. Unfortunately for Chud, Mangini took over as HC in 2009 and brought his own OC.
