http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thed...-sparano-to-re-create-the-days-of-dan-marino/ Well now, I normally do not wish for ownership to speak, in this case I think Ross is correct. I also believe that "if" Henne is to salvage his career in Miami, that would be about the only way he can do so, the drawback is the Qb in the no huddle typically takes one heck of a beating. That is a good article, an oddity for Volin who is not one of my favorite go to sources.
Ross is getting it! That is exactly what we want and what we need. We should be running and gassing teams off our field. We need speed, we need to throw the ball, and we need to be exciting. No more of keeping the games close and hoping for the win. We need to go for the jugular and do it often! Thank you Ross for finally getting it.
This guy needs to shut up. He knows about as much about football as your average Joe (and I'm being kind). His only request should be "Win more games."
And before I get jumped, I think what I said is true of almost all owners. Hire a good GM an coaching staff and let them put it together.
Talk doesn't mean ****. If you feel that way, Ross, then you better get us the best g#@damn OC out there.
Ross= STFU.. What a dumass...don't ever tell football people what to do about football.. I want defense, hows that...
An offense similar to New England's would be nice, but I don't think we have a QB currently on this roster to execute such an offense. I find his quote about the weather ironic. Wasn't it Ross himself who pined to have two night home games early in the season?
As much as I agree with Ross, this situation will never work if that style of football isn't what Tony wants to do. Can't force a square peg into a round hole. We can only hope Tony Sparano is on board 100% with Ross's vision.
Oye. I do like this but for different reasons than Ross. I think he is making changes for the sake of change and to take more big shots and risky plays to put us on the highlight reel to get butts in seats. His "exciting football" is $$$$$.
That was my thought as well, it is fine for an owner to articulate a vision for HIS business, in fact they really should make it crystal clear what they want the team to perform like, however they also owe it to the Coach to allow him to implement that vision in a way that they deem fit. I would suggest reading the article as well as Ross also makes it crystal clear why he chatted with Harbaugh, he told Sparano what he wanted, Sparano made his pitch, Ross chatted up Harbaugh, he compared the two and came down to the decision that he was better off with Sparano handling things.. It is interesting that after the Iron Curtain era they opened up a bit, but now they should pull the curtain back and not do this any longer, there is nothing else that needs to be said and frankly, we really do not need to know anymore.
Hmm, I consider Henne having the snot knocked out of him a small price to pay... (Better him than me)
I agree with him that we need to be more aggressive on offense, but I do not like that he's telling the football people what to do. Not a big deal though.
I wondered why Sparano was so clueless about this. Obviously Ross wants Miami to be entertaining. Bringing in celebrity ownership and adding entertainment to home games. Miami was the least entertaining team on offense last year playing for "chunk inches" and long distance field goals. I thought Sparano was as good as gone when he publicly supported Henning after week 15 when Miami was 31st in scoring out of 32 teams.
you are so right. the only teams that win with "wide open" offenses are those that have top five QBs. Maybe we get lucky and fond a good coordinator who is a little more aggressive but unless we find a QB who can become top five this is a recipe for disaster. Ross is the worst thing to happen to Miami in fifty years
i dont have a problem with a guy that has paid billions into a product giving his opinion of what he wants.....
I agree, I just hope it doesn't get to the point where he starts demanding things. Let the football people do the football stuff.
well the guys currently making the decisions now have had back to back 7-9 seasons, so ill listen to some change for now, especially from the owner of the franchise...
What he's doing is trying to appease the fans...... he's telling them to not abandon the team and the stadium on Sunday. He's promising that Sparano will be forced to do more than drive for FG's. He pretty much has no choice but to do this....somebody has to. May as well be the owner...
Chiefs, Rams, Falcons, Ravens, Chargers, and Packers? I guess you could argue Rivers and Rodgers being top 5 QBs, but it would be close. Cassel, Flacco, Ryan, and Bradford sure as hell aren't top 5 QBs as of right now. I will say it for the millionth time. If we can get Henne a couple of guys to throw to, a decent running game, and a solid playcaller that opens up our playbook, he will shine. Also, our line has to stay healthy.
you consider the Chiefs, Ravens, Rams, Falcons offenses as opening it up? when i hear opening it up, i'm thinking spread pass first types of offenses. Think Colts, Packers, Saints, Patriots. Think of those QBs then think of what we have to work with. We are closer to the Chiefs, Ravens, Jets in terms of quality of QB play and therefore we should be a running team first unless we find a QB as good as Aaron Rogers. Rogers to me is the bare minimum of quality you need to run a pass first offense and be successful at it for more than a year
while i understand and kind of feel like you do, i didn't spend a billion dollars on the team. ross did. regardless i hope our offense gets more exciting one way or another.
Ross must have been reading the board here during the season. The majority wanted this offense to be opened up. Now he gives you what you want and you ***** about it. Go Figure. The Great Satan Henning is gone. David ( I've never developed an NFL QB in my life) Lee is gone. We should all be celebrating.
i could get behind chudzinski. its a cam cameron light offense but if we hire john garrett we'll regret letting henning go. its early in the proccess, so i'll reserve judgement but we're not talking to knockouts so far. these arent the offensive equivalents of Mike Nolan here
I tell u one thing..if I paid the money Ross did for a team..and someone told me how I shoul talk about my team, Id say to shut the f up. I want a wide open offense...and Im so sick of all the wah wah. Christ the guy clearly wants to put a winning team on the field. Would you rather have Buffalo's owners?
So until we get one of those bare minimum Qb's we should just settle for four hard and fg's on every drive?
Uhh...Yes I do. Sam Bradford averaged 37 pass attempts per game, Matt Ryan averaged close to 36 attempts per game, Flacco averaged over 30 a game, and even though Cassel had less attempts, they were still a spread type offense, with Charles, McCluster, Bowe, and Moeaki. These teams are very spread out and open. Chad Henne would succeed much more in a pass first offense, in shotgun a lot, with weapons around him than he would in our current system.
