you thiñk the falcons ravens and chiefs got into the playoffs by kicking FGs?
I'm talkin run first offense vs pass first offense. One requires a top 15 QB to win a SB, the other requires a top 5 QB. Which do you think is a better strategy considering our QBs

the offense was 31st this year. he's stating what we all know. if Tony needs his owner to point this out to him, he should be gone. its put up or shut up time for Mr Fistpump. either he gets it offensively or he doesnt. the Dan Henning excuse is now gone.

that Chiefs team was going nowhere, and they could run on anybody. i get your point, but then get some explosive playmakers in the passing game that can turn short passes into long ones making your mediocre qb look better.

Who cares, the owner should shut his mouth when it comes to strategy. If he thought it was a problem, hire the guys to do the work.

He can say what he wants. He has more right to talk strategy than any of us here.

I just love the confidence out of the typical Dolphins fan. We bring a guy in, start him for less than two years, he battles injuries, offensive line problems, has arguably the worst OC in the league calling plays for him, etc...yet he is done here.

I almost hope we draft a QB in the 1st, like Newton or Mallet or trade some future picks for a washed up 34 year old QB, or hit free agency hard for a bum like Carson Palmer, who couldn't succeed with all the talent in the world around him, just to prove to you guys that getting 1 QB will not fix our offensive problems. Let's try bringing in someone like Donovan McNabb or Carson Palmer and try having them run a functional offense with the supporting cast we have.

Just because you want it to be, doesnt make it true. I have watched Henne miss pass after pass down the field. We have seen him check down on the last play of the game multiple times and watch the clock run out because he refuses to take a chance, WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE, and just wing it down field to let his WR make a play. He would rather get the completion than the win, it seems. If you are already behind, with 10 seconds left on the clock and 3rd and 10, THAT IS NOT THE TIME TO PLAY IT SAFE. You are already losing. Its make or break time. LET IT GO. Grow some and make it happen. Thats what WINNERS DO. Which explains a lot. You cant teach Heart and you cant teach Touch. He has neither.

When I read the opening article that was used for the first post in this thread, all I could think about was Vince Young. He is exciting to watch and brings excitement to the team. I am not saying it is good or bad, its just seems to fit what Ross wants.

I have also seen him make incredible passes after incredible passes. I have seen him get put in awful situations. I bring up this example again: 3rd and 14 against the Patriots, Dan Henning calls a pass play with a 2 WR and 2 TE set. He keeps both TEs in to block, sends Ronnie Brown on a 1 yard down and out, with Davone Bess and Brandon Marshall as the only two players running to the sticks. Henne throws a pick to Devin McCourty. What else could Henne have done on that play? Bess was triple covered and Marshall was double covered. I also watched our offensive line go down one by one, throughout the season. Oh and I also watched our run game get dismantled every single game, averaging a grand total of 3.8 yards per carry throughout the season. I watched Brian Hartline get placed on IR in week 11, leaving our WR corps with Marlon Moore and Roberto Wallace after Marshall/Bess (Oh btw, Moore and Wallace combined for more drops this season than actual catches). I also watched our coaches pull Henne off the field and out of his rhythm to run a stupid, gimmick wildcat.

You could go either way. I would honestly like to find an available QB in the world that could have put up with the amount of issues Henne had to deal with all season long.

ive always said the problem was lack of personnel on offense. we need two offensive linemen, one gamebreaker RB, one top 15 QB (Maybe Henne turns into one maybe not), one seam busting TE and one WR who can run a sub 4.4. I dont expect to get all of those positions but if we get half we will be in the playoffs and it doesnt matter which half we get

We play in the most humid environment in the NFL. There's no excuse for not using that to our advantage. I agree with Ross here.

I've been saying for a while that Henne is a different QB when the tempo is picked up and he can get into a rhythm. He can play pitch and catch all day long with quality receivers in 3+ receiver sets and appropriate play-calling. Spread out the field and we'll see Chad playing to his strength..... or just rewatch the Michigan-UF game if anyone needs a reminder.

first off chad henne averaged more pass attempts then Flacco. and calling these teams spread offenses is like calling Miami's a spread offense because we ran 3 and 4 WR sets on occasion. Flacco's 30 pass attempts per game put him at 25th in the NFL. The Ravens were ranked 6th in rushing attempts. the falcons ranked 5th in rush attpts/8th in pass attempts. that mularkey offense is based off establishing the run first and foremost. now if people will crowd the box, they will throw. the ideal you always strive for is 50/50. the falcons have gotten good enough that they can achieve that basically. i think it comes down to 32 runs vs 36 pass but its all based off turner. that offense would fall apart if they got into a pass heavy offense where the breakdown was 60/40 like the colts who had a 25 rush/ 42 pass ratio

yeah all our games should be at 1pm and at the beginning of the season. If Ross wants to be a help, petition the league to have our first eight games be home games next year and all of them start at 1pm :shifty:

absolutely and then we could have the second half to get used to playing in the cold

knowing ross he'll build a dome within five years to "enhance the fan experience" so it wont matter lol

If we build the dome, does that mean we can switch all our home games to the final 8 and then turn up the heat in the dome while slamming it full of humidifiers?

They better get a couple of lineman and a stud running back. Otherwise no Qb is going to survive. Much less save or be able to resurrect any career..

I was saying OK to most of it. Not so much agreeing but saying it MIGHT help him. Until you mentioned the only big game he ever won in college. He went 1-7 in big games and you pick the one.

Yep! At least if they can run the ball well, and cannot get anyone better than Henne, the offense won't have to rely on him nearly as much as they tried this season.

been saying that all season, the best way to develop a young QB is with a strong running game. flacco, ryan and sanchez have that. and i think henne would be in a much better place confidence wise if we didnt have to put the game in his hands asa often as we did

Not trying kill it. Henne had a good game but he did almost lose it with his second int that ended up putting Florida ahead 35-31 nearing the end of the game. To his credit, Henne came right back and drove them to a TD which put them back in the lead. That TD was a great one handed 17 yard strike to Manningham, who along with Arrington, had Monster games.

Interceptions have always been a problem with Henne. Inopportune Int's more than just Int's. Get him to stop throwing them on the regular and ya might have a Qb but as we've seen, that's easier said than done. An offense set up for his strengths will absolutely create some excitement but I'm afraid it will all go for not, at the most inopportune time.

While i dont completely disagree with Ross, the lack of a solid running game this year completely ruined our offensive production. That NEEDS to be addressed.

Why I agree to open up the offence the owner is asking a conservative tony sparno to turn into mike martz. You can't place a square peg in a round hole.If this is what he wants he should have hired a new head coach to implement this aggresive approach.
I have a bad feeling this guy is going to be another jerry jones, daniel snyder type.

Yes it was, and now a 180º turn ? It shows he knows nothing but being a fan. He needs to STFU and let football people do football stuff. Saying he wants a more open offense, that I want to hear, but delving into offensive philosophies - Ross STFU. Let Tony make his own bed, then see if he will be able to crawl out of it or not.
