Would anyone have a problem, if CHAD PENNINGTON was able to come back, at least temporaily, and was the starting QB at least as a stop gap while we groom someone to take over? I truly believe that if you cannot find a QB, Chad is an option to consider until we find a solution. I strongly oppose throwing Henne back out there. If you want to keep him, let him learn on the bench. What about Chad as a QB coach?
I love Chad Pennington. If he wants to come be QB coach for this team I would be all for it. That being said I absolutely do not want to see him suit up again for ANY team. His shoulder is shot. Wish it wasn't as he has been the best Phins QB since Marino but it is so we need to move on.
Pennington didn't even make it 3 plays. Hes not an option. Hennes the guy next season. We'll look for and hopefully obtain someone else, but Henne will get his chance to prove himself with a new OC.
I said a few days ago, my money is on him coming back..Doc Andrews wired his sh$3 up real good..we'll see what happens.
If Sparano hates his job, a good way to lose it would be to go into a season relying on Pennington as a starting QB with a shoulder that has proven it can't hold up to the lightest of hits. I love Chad Pennington but that shoulder has had it. There isn't enough wire or duct tape in the world to fix it.
If Chad Pennington wants to play another season then he needs to do it in another city. He's a great guy, he had one magical season for us, but he's dead weight at this point. He can't be trusted with that shoulder. And for his sake I hope he retires to save any further damage to himself.
Worst idea ever. Seriously, why would you even suggest this idea? Chad has the heart, but he has the most fragile body in the league. 1 damn play- that is what it took to get a season ending injury.
I don't understand how you can claim that I have the worst idea ever and then continue on to agree with me in your post.
Pennington's shoulder dislocates if someone looks at him wrong. You're dreaming if you think he can come back.
You did quote him... lol...I think you pressed the "Reply with quote" button rather than the "Reply" button.
Do you not remember what happened this year? Chad does not want to be a QB coach, he wants to coach HS football. He has said this a couple of times already.
I wouldn't mind Pennington coming back in a backup role. David Woodley and Dan Marino had Don Strock and that's what our starting QB needs...a "Don Strock"...a veteran who is not only good, but can mentor him and when in need, step in and do what a back up is supposed to do...win.
Dr Xer0 I presume. You are talking about something you have no idea about. You or no one else on this board or much less half of the coaches of the Dolphins know truly where Chad Pennington's shoulder is. The only ones that know that for sure is Chad Pennington and a select few that are going to treat him. Chad Pennington has had multiple surgeries and each time a Surgeon has cleared him to go back and play football. That is good enough for me. Chad Pennington is exactly what we need to have until we are able to get another QB developed. Is that going to be 1 year , 2 years, **** who knows. It is very possible he could come back for 5 or 6 years and have a solid finish to his career. The answer to our QB problems could be staring us straight in the face. As to the blow out of his shoulder last year. 2 plays........ that's what he got for all the hard work, weeks of practice time, and dedication he put in to coming back. Obviously enough for Surgeons and Coaches to clear him to play. It was a sh*tty thing that happened. Could happen to any player on any play. Remember Marino's Achilles?? Who saw that coming?? Pennington is coming back!!!!
Yeah, but that "one play" seems to happen to Pennington a lot more, huh? Maybe it's because he has a destroyed shoulder. As to your advice for xer0, you're wrong. A person doesn't need to be a Dr in order to come up with the conclussion that Penny's shoulder is toast. I am a medical professional, so I know this, but a simple internet search will lead a person in the right direction. Hell, just realizing that the guy has suffered three season ending shoulder injuries and has only played 2 full seasons out of his 11 years in the NFL should be enough for most people to figure it out. First, once a person just separates their shoulder, they are more susceptible to reinjury, especially for someone playing QB in the NFL. Next, Pennington didn't just separate his shoulder. I believe it's been reported that he's torn all 4 of his rotator cuff tendons and labrum on MULTIPLE occassions. Last, this shoulder injury has yet to be detailed in the media. However, he's had 2 MAJOR tears of his rotator cuff, among other injuries to the same shoulder, in the past. If it is found that he once again tore his rotator cuff, I'd bet everything in my bank account that he never plays again. After the 3rd tear it's extrememly hard to repair and any further injury could possibly cause him permanent loss in range of motion.
