That and it seemed in 2008 we got every bounce togo our way, then 2009&2010 we seem to be snake bit!

Great point. Injury free in 2008 and our defense was able to create a ton of turnovers too. Those are two huge factors for winning in this league.

Yeah add the fact that we in 08 we tied fewest turnovers ever, then the last 2 years we stopped taking care of the rock. Then the snake bit bounces like Sharper pick 6 in 09 rapistberger fumble plays like that in 08 we got the football. Obviously it isn't the only reason the seasons were a disappointment but it was a factor.

So you want an offense that will not work in the NFL?

Exactly! Stephen Ross is coming off like a Daniel Snyder clone. He's trying to interject what he wants onto the football team when he has no clue about what it takes to win football games in the NFL.

He wants an "exciting", "entertaining" offense in Miami. Well, exciting and entertaining don't win games. Fundamentally sound and mistake free is what wins games.

There is one reason, and one reason only that Ross is being loud. He's trying to save season ticket holders. He is making sure those pissed off fans, who were booing at the end of the year, the ones yelling "Henne Sucks", and who (I am pretty sure) have called his ticket offices, and are threatening to not renew, or trying to woo back those that have actually called and cancelled already. Its all PR. Ross won't really care what offense is run, as long as Tony wins games next year.

KB I was upset a couple of days ago too about Ross. Upon some reflection, I think its more towards trying to apease the fans. Keep them from a total season ticket revolution because emotions will fade over time, and he just needs assurances Tony will win games, and doesn't care how they do it, just win games. He will be happy.

I think that is a good argument. The fans will be less likely to believe Sparano or Ireland if they mentioned it instead of Ross. Fair point.

You see, KB, it's comments like that that are rude and dismissive of someone's opinion, mine in this case, and I don;t appreciate it. If you insist on treating my thoughts thusly I won't bother replying since we won;t have a productive conversation. Your feelings on my thoughts are clear from that statement. Unfortunately, it also ascribes to me an intention I obviously don't have.

KB...I know that is what you believe is correct, and Im not saying it isnt at all. But...I think what Ross is saying..is he wants an offense like the Colts, Patriots, Bolts, etc....those are explosive offenses that do very well in the NFL.

All of those offenses would be considered exciting and entertaining. How bout the Greatest Show on Turf offense? Hell, we had an exciting and entertaining offense with Marino for how many years?

If you were the owner of the team....Im quite sure you would state what kind of team you wanted. Lets say for example....you owned the Phins...and your GM and Head Coach wanted to either trade for Mike Vick, or draft Cam Newton. Your telling me with a straight face that you would sit there and not say a word? Lol.....yehhhhhh righhhttt....

Ross isnt telling them who to draft...he's saying he wants an exciting brand of football....and I see nothing wrong with that...because if I was in his shoes....your damned right I would want the team to have an exciting and entertaining style of play....but thats because thats what I LIKE. Some people prefer 4 yards and a cloud of dust...being safe....winning with a great defense. Its not MY PERSONAL CHOICE.....so, if I spent billions on a team....I wouldnt hire someone to run a team that way.

I think youd be naive if you didnt think there was certainly some of that in Ross intentions. But seriously...we all have our preffered style of play. Some of us prefer a 4-3 defense run straight up vanilla, some of us prefer a 3-4 blitz heavy style of defense. I think it goes with the offense as well.

Why is it bad for Ross to state what style of offense he would like to see.....especially since he is the owner? I dont get it....its like spending 75,000 on a sports car, and then staying within the speed limits all the time...because someone else told you you get better gas mileage and thats the way you should drive your car. If you spent 75,000 on a sports car....your gonna drive it the way you damn well want to....right. Its HIS TEAM.

I don't think anybody, well at least I am not, is arguing if he has the right to do what he wants. People are arguing if it is wise for him to do so.

I have the right to refuse medical treatment if I am ill. But that probably isn't the wise move.

The difference is, I probably have forgotten more about football than Stephen Ross knows. It is a completely different perspective. I know exactly what kind of team I would want because I know what wins in the NFL.

Stephen Ross is a friggin putz that needs to keep his damn mouth shut and keep his input completely out of the football side of this organization.

I guess I'm failing to see where Ross has done anything other that open his checkbook and say, "I want to win and I want to have an exciting football team."

I agree with that however, you cant dictate scheme philosophy..imo, that was wrong.

He very plainly stated that he wants to see a hurry up offense that throws the ball alot.

I didn't read that. Do you have a link? What was the context? Meaning, did he say something like, "I want an exciting offense. Something like the hurry-up, pass happy offense we see around the league." or "I told Tony I want an offense just like the Colts hurry-up, pass happy offense." ??

Because if it was the former I'd say he was just giving an example of "exciting" and not necessarily dictating scheme philosophy. If it was the latter, then yeah, he needs to stay away from that if he expects to own a Super Bowl winning team.

I have seen that. However, I guess I got something different out of this than what you did. What I got was Ross saying that he wants the coaches to get back to the "good ol' days" of exciting, Dan Marino football. The WINNING times. He wants the coaches to use any and all advantages they have there in South Florida. He's also trying to create a buzz and excitment and expectations of excitment for the Dolphins.

I haven't seen anything that shows me that he's a Jerry Jones or Al Davis. The moment I see him pick a player in the draft or sign a FA without the total support of Ireland and Sparano is the moment I start complaining.

At this point he's trying to get fans happy and excited. I doubt there's anything else to this.
