Bring back Stache and Spielman Jay Fielder as new OC!

I miss the days of Wannstache and Jay Fielder when I complained we were stuck in mediorcity going 10-6 or 11-5 every year and either losing in the wildcard game or just barely missing the playoffs!

I am getting a Tom Brady Jersey for XMAS

He is and will always be a Business Man first and a smart one at that. Just look at his biography at a Professional career. As one example, remember when he bought out the remaining shares of the team to become full owner in 1993. He then pulled the Joe Robbie name off the building and sold that space to a corporate sponsor who later went under (Pro Player). They also moved the statue of Joe Robbie from the front to the back of the stadium.

Sure, he has always spent money on the Dolphins to make the team better because he's a smart business man that knows in order to make money, you must spend money. He did the same things for the Marlins when he spent millions in on acquiring players. After they won the World Series after the 1997 season, then the team was completly separated to save money.

IMHO , I would not be surprised and have no doubts about him selling the team or not. Especially , if he can make a profit of it.

Incorrect, there are several interests that wanted the Marlins, but all were rebuffed by MLB.

True, the guy takes alot of **** but he is a good owner.

Perez and Ross both have ties to Sofla, I doubt they would relocate the team.
    The Fins arent going anywhere.

  6. Please explain to me how this is an indication of compentency?

For example lets say I am a new writer out of college and I buy the most expensive typewriter on the market. That does not prove I am a good writer or that I even have the best typewriter available for my particular needs.

Also he has ALWAYS shown a willingness to raise prices as well, Any monies spent has been passed along to the fans

LOL @ "thats it" perhaps thats it is your opinion my opinion however list one or two items to go onto his list of mistakes.

From the start that entire situation was a mistake. It was completly classless how both Wayne and JJ conducted themselves in regards to notifying Shula he had been replaced.

Personally I was never impressed with JJ as a head coach and believe him to be highly overated. Just because he put together a good team when he had a multitude of prime draft picks an an open check book does not make him a proven winner. I'll give him due credit in Dallas that when given that opprotunity he did put together a winning franchise but the Walker trade gave him a huge shortcut too sucess. Could he of built that same caliber of a team over time without all those picks, maybe, but not proven. Wayne gave him carte blanche under the assumption he could, thats irresponible ownership. I will grant you the circumstances of JJ's situation could not of been predicted but irregardless it was a disasterous decission on Waynes part. I'm adding this too to your brief list of Waynes mistakes

I think this qualifies as another mistake made by Wayne, does it not? Acctually if you break it down it was a multitude of mistakes all wrapped up in that section of your quote. Your certainly entitled to your oppinion in letting Wayne off the hook for the Failed experiment we call the Wanny years but I can go on n on pointing out mistake after mistake of how Wayne reacted to mistake after mistake made by Wanny.

I love this part of your quote: Another great hire???? another implies there was a previouis great hire by him, Who would that other great hire be?

Using your same logic here would you say drafting Ryan Leaf was a great draft too since he had been projected to be so sucessfull. While I understand what I think your trying to say in that most people would of thought Saban was going to be more sucessfull then he was prior to taking over, you still can not say he was a great hire. This in fact I would say was also an irresponsible choice by Wayne. He brings in another unproven coach and gives him free reign with no safegaurds in place. It's like giving a 16yr old kid who just got his drivers licenses the keys to a ferrari because he got high marks on his drivers exam. This was a big mistake made by our owner.

I agree with this much of your post, you have to be willing to spend money to be sucessfull in the NFL. However spending money is not the only ingredant required to put together a winning franchise. In my opinion you are over simplifing a very complex equation. Perhaps Wayne is making the mistake too and we can add that onto the list as well.

I guess Im in the "dont get it group"

Well I am very nerveous hearing the news that Wayne is not considering BUT in negotiations to sell!! the team.

As for the threat of the team moving, I dont see what benefit it would be for a new owner to buy the team & stadium and then move the team, so as long as the stadium is included in any sale of the team I feel it safe that the new owner will not move the dolphins.

As for Cameron and Mueller another poster claims Hank Goldberg stated that if this team is not sold Wayne is cleaning house I believe that and I also feel that the end is near for Cam and Randy their is no way a new owner buys a team that is 0 for whatever and leaves everything status queo NO WAY

For Mueller and Cameron thanks for the memory guys good luck.

  8. I'm curious as to what is the motivation behind his desire to sell the team?

Is it because he thinks this team is at it's peak monitarily?

Is Wayne so embarassed he dosnt want to be associated with?

    Is he having money problems?

Strictly in terms of owning the team as an investment it certainly is a profitable thing and Im curious why he wants out. I wonder if he would be best served by bringing in a junior partner who knows football and could make sounder decissions to get this team turned around and headed in the right direction again.

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

    Numbers are way off:

    2 AFC East titles (1994 and 2000)
0 AFC Championships (Got that one right :( )
    7 Playoff appearances (1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001)

It has been since 2001 that we have sucked so horribly... Which, strangely enough, was when Wannstadt had full reign...

    Get over this crap already.

LA is just as much of a NFL town then any other football town. We just dont bend over for the nfl for a new stadium. NFL has gotten every tax payer from nfl cities to pay for part if not the whole new stadium for their franchise. LA tax payer will not pay for the stadium hence the reason we dont have a team here. Not because we are not a nfl town. I bet USC has pack more fans in there stadium then the dolphins have and USC only plays 10 games. They even pack 90,000 for a game vs. Idaho. I dont want the fins to come to LA but the crap of LA not a NFL town is stupid.

  11. If thats true about LA fans good for you. Pretty sad how these teams can be worth a billion dollars but cant afford to build its own stadiums.

    Sale opens Questions.

So lets say that wayne does...in fact sell the team. Does the time factor enter into the new owners ability to field a complete package on opening day of 2008???
What I mean to say...is...how long would it take for the NFL to OK the purchase(and also the principles)??? Would they have enuf time to set up a front office...scouting dept...support system...etc.----hire a GM---and have him assemble his staff...from assistants to his coach...then the hiring or retaining the asst. coaches.....let alone have all the neccessary peeps in place in time for the Draft...free agency...trade deadline ...etc.
Then there will be the evaluation of players now on the team and those on the market as free agents.
Time will be the telling factor what quality(or a least improved) product we will be able begin the new season with. Will it be Half-a---d, make-shift or a work-in-progress over 1 or 2 seasons or more???
I don't know the ans....but common sense tells me that- -to put together a one Billion dollar Franchise(PROPERLY) will take longer than 8 or 9 months.
I'm sure some of the Knowledgable Posters here have good opinions on the Questions.:confused1:Thanks in Advance

    Rebuilding the Team

My opinions here, feel free to disagree:

    The steps to restore the Miami Dolphins to an elite franchise;

    1. If the team is going to be sold, get it done as fast as possible. I have never held Huizenga directly responsible for the teams results. However, if he is to the point of wanting out, I would prefer he sells to someone with a fresh, positive approach.

    2. Clean out the front office. I understand there are some good personell in that front office. However, a fresh start means you change out the litter, not just scoop out the poo. There are a lot of promising candidates out there. The status quo we have in place have not given us anything to base any loyalty on, I think it's time to make the change.

    3. Cam Cameron has to go. 1 year may not be enough for some people, but he is obviously in over his head. His decisions leave a lot of people scratching their heads. The 2006 San Diego offense playcalling was often criticized, and labeled as "Marty Ball", however Cameron was the Offensive Co-ordinator. In the 2007 Draft, with everyone knowing the pick was almost surely going to be Brady Quinn, he pulls out a stunner by taking Ted Ginn Jr, and then makes us even more uneasy with the pick by announcing that Ginn would make a huge factor as a "Punt & Kick returner". He just does not show the promise of being "the guy".

    4. Bring in Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer or Bill Parcells. Any of these 3 guys would serve as the model to follow. Personally, I would prefer Cowher for the job, because I think wherever he goes he is going to be there for a long time. He is a proven winner and there is no doubt about who is in charge of his teams. Marty Schottenheimer would be my close 2nd choice, He has almost the same style as Cowher and possesses the approach and style needed to rebuild a team into a contender. Parcells would be my third choice. I do not forsee Parcells as a future Coach for this team, but when it comes to coming in, cleaning house and getting a team stocked and rebuilt for the future, he has a proven track record. You could not expect him to be there for more than 2-3 years tops. Bottom line, you pay whatever you have to for Cowher or Schottenheimer, if that isn't feasible, try to bring in Parcells. A few others to strongly consider would be Holmgren or even Wade Phillips.

    5. Purge the roster of players that can not help us beyond 2009. If one of the Coaches mentioned above are aquired, then they should have the majority decision in this area. Like Parcells stated when he took over the Cowboys franchise, "If you want me to cook the Dinner you have to let me shop for the groceries".

    6. Re-Connect with the Fans and the Communities. This franchise needs to be supported by its community and fans, but it needs to show them that the organization is committed to winning and restore its proud tradition.

That is my BluePrint for success.

Hardly. UCLA and USC football home games sell out quickly and the attendance at each of their individual home games is enough to support an NFL franchise. It'd be more than the amount of people who watch teams like the Cardinals.

Those two moved out for reasons that dealt with political/economic issues just like any other franchise. I'm just saying the fan base is still there. I see it every day. And don't forget, Houston had its Oilers move away and people still support the Texans. And don't even get me started on the Browns and Baltimore. People here in LA will support a pro franchise if it gets started. There's a foundation here ready to be activated. Just because we don't have a franchise doesn't mean we don't like football. I am using the collegiate ranks to support that statement. If a team wants to come, they will find that the same people who go to those football games will show up on their doorsteps. It's up to the fat cats in the NFL and city councils to recognize this.

For some reason I think that if he sells. The new owner really would not take complete ownership until the following year, but will have all the input on decisions and such

Bro we are working on it. We are having to retrive 7 years of info. Everyone on staff is a volunteer, and we all have full time jobs. We also have to ensure that we do the needed upgardes as well, and ensure that the hacker can not come back and hack the site again. This person or persons is still out there. We will be up as soon as we possibly can.

That this once great franchise is considering getting sold.

The name Miami Dolphins will die. Everything related to Miami dies.

    I don't like this at all......

    Deeper Into The Darkness

    Dolfans

As I hear rumors of a potential sale of the dolphins I cant help but wonder what does this all mean.

The first thought I have is there is no way a stong headcoach(Cowher/Schottenhiemer)will take the job with an unstabel ownership ordinarilly thats a strong point for Wayne.

I also thought perhaps there was some merit to the rumor that Wayne talked with Parcells about coming onboard and was turned down leaving Wayne feeling hopeless and thus making an offer for the team more appealing.

Whatever the "truths" are about the rumors the fact is when you consider the glorious past of this franchise from the perfect season, the legendary players and caoch shula to the current state of affairs its sad.

As a fan dealing with a losing season is tough experiencing a winless season is even harder, right now as a fan of the miami dolphins all I can think of is how this team has fallen deeper into the darkness.

This year, was a bit different for Wayne.

His cards were still in play, his decisions still fresh on the table, and was barely unbuckled from his negotiations seat, before this pair of would be saviors, sent us barreling recklessly toward an impending cliff of history making inevitability.

With his own handshake still binding, the ink on the contracts had barely dried, when half of Findom has already called for their heads, alleging breach of contract, and derelection in duty, for placing the dignity of this franchise in such a sorry state of irreparable shame.

To think that by losing the next 3 games, these two will forsaken us, to become the inexorable successor of Tampa Bay's irredeemable past conviction. After more than 30 years, we will be committed as the sorry souls to relieve them of their unenviable post.

We will be doing so, not by one of equal merit, but with the preponderance of
even greater ineptitude, having surpassed their humiliating feat by overwhelming margins of incompetance. We will rule the spoils.

We will castforth the foulest condemnation, and upon all who draw near,
shall fall our reigning shadow, of sublime impotence,

an effect I dont believe Wayne had in mind last January.
