Have you scene him play this year? he is not a game manager For the first three quarters of games he plays like Heath Schuler, in the 4th quarters of games he turns into a Hall of Famer. The guy plays lights out when the game is on the line. I hate the Jets, but the guy steps up when the game is on the line.
Well the first time he butted heads with Bill Parcells. Parcells surely did this on purpose because why would the old dinosaur egomaniac want anybody else around in Miami with HOF credibility like him. The fact of the matter is that he intentionally blew the TV program out of proportion to get JT out of town. Michael Strahan sat out Giants camp in 07 b/c he didn't feel like going. He was fined, came back, and helped them win a Super Bowl. I'm sure no NY fan has any ill will towards Strahan. And Coughlin [a coach who has won a Super Bowl more recently than the 1980s] had enough sense not to run off a vet who could contribute to his team and who was a fan favorite. And in 08 I would say that JT still could have contributed something to our team. I don't really feel the need to get into this much anymore but Bill Parcells is the biggest douchebag in the world as far as I'm concerned. We are not better off due to him, possibly we're worse off than we would have been. Even if you were pissed at JT in 08 things should look at least a little differently now in light of how Tuna has ripped our team off and conveniently hit the road before everything boiled over and we hit new lows.
While I don't disagree with your Parcells points, Taylor needed to be in camp with all the new coaches, not dancing. Taylor showed he was not about the team, but about himself, which is fine, he dug his own grave that year. I really have learned to dislike the guy immensely.
I think 11 years of being about the team and the city overrule one summer. Find a Giants fan that will complain about Strahan 'not being about the team'. And the regime had already given him permission to go on that show. It's his fault they were fired and replaced by the biggest douche in the world?
Taylor wasn't offered a contract by any other team than the Jets. His choice was to make several more millions by playing for a team that was once a rival, or retiring. It's easy for a fan to say, "I'd never do that! I'd never take that money." But once you leave fantasy land, no one in their right mind is turning down that kind of coin. Hey - it's not like he is tearing it up. He's been a huge dissapointment and if the Jets win a championship, he will have had almost nothing to do with it.
Prove it. Nobody but him and his agent know how many contracts he was offered?? Along with the rest of it, if you thing Jason went to the Jets for the money you have completely pulled the covers over your eyes. The guy went there to chase a championship. He'll make great money after football being an announcer or analyst on one of the pregame shows on Fox or CBS. This guy gave up on his team, and went to the enemy to try and get a championship. He's taken a reduced role, stepped out of the spotlight, became an average player, all to try and get a CHEAP ring.
Ok. I believe you. I don't care one way or the other. He's been a disappointment for the Jets. You should be happy.
I think the media would have at least tweeted something if there were all kinds of offers out there. JT played here 11 years through several regimes and nonstop futility. He went through JJ, Wanny, Saban, and Cam. But fans jump all over him for two reasons: 1) He had the nerve to stand up to the franchise 'savior' Bill Parcells. [He really did great things for us didn't he? What a great Dolphin Bill Parcells is. It's evident how much he has always put the Dolphins first since signing his contract he's still collecting a check from.] 2) He signed with the Jets for the only real offer he had to play this season. It's his fault he didn't want to sign a post it note contract from a man he probably didn't trust anyway [and none of us should ever trust] in the middle of last season or that he didn't want to sit around and wait for fist pumper to decide if he wanted him. The man spent years going out of his way to spew venom at the Jets. Just last year he spiked a TD ball into their logo at the Meadowlands. But yeah he just couldn't wait to go to those guys. I can always come to these threads when I want to see logic go out the window on account of petty kneejerk emotions.
He's helped the Jets win a couple of games. Was someone expecting 06 JT? He was only ever going to get maybe a handful of sacks and a couple of fumble recoveries or so. JT at 40 will make more plays than Vernon Gholston ever will to put it into perspective.
That doesn't mean Henne is a worse QB than Sanchez. Did you watch Sanchez against NE? Yeah, he put up good stats, but he also continued to over throw receivers like he has since coming to the NFL. He is simply being carried by his defense and players/coaching staff around him. I can admit the Jets are better coached/have a decent amount more talent than the Fins, but no way can I say their QB is better than Henne because he has more wins.
He was looking bad early in the game but after the first quarter he was making all the throws as far as I could tell. He's better than Henne because he's better at coming through when it counts.
I agree. It's just that some people make it sound like he's come to the hated Jets and carried them into the AFC title game. I did expect a little more from him, but he's been a solid role player.
I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Does Henne make that fade pass to Holmes or bounce it off the defender's helmet?
