    "Let's trade a #1 and a..."

    Shut.up.

There are no trades of players until there is a cba, Commish Goodell has thusly decreed:

"No trades of draft picks for players until there is a labor agreement"

The point man on the Billionaires Ownership hijacking of a NFL season has further said:

"We will get a deal done by September, there will be no football games missed"

Owners plan is that once the players start missing game checks, they will surrender to Ownerships' demands that they agree to take a collective 1 billion dollar paycut across the NFL and a Rookie Salary Cap.

Meaning..THERE WILL BE NO TRADES FOR PLAYERS FOR A ****ING LONGTIME..IF EVER THIS SEASON, THERE WILL BE NO FREE AGENCY FOR A VERY LONG TIME THIS YEAR EITHER!!!

    Stop it.

(Not directed at anyone in particular at all)

You may end uo being wrong by the end of the month Pad.

The NFLPA forced a eharing before the special master on the "lockout insurance" the NFL negotiated with its television partners (ie; the league still gets paid roughly $4 billion even if no games are played). The union is arguing, smartly, that the owners are under an obligation under the current CBA to maximize the value of it's product so there is more revenue for the players to share.

If the union is successful in showing that the elague intentionally lowered the value of the tv contract by requesting lockout insurance then that portion of the league's tv deal could be voided. And if the league wants to appeal the decision, it goes before Judge Doty who they already tried and failed to have removed from his CBA oversight role.

Long story short, if the union wins, the league will see NO MONEY until games are played. Thus, a deal will be struck rather quickly.

If you care about football, root for the union in this instance.

Which all could be true, however at this point in time..no trades are possible and it kills me that people just plow forward as if this is not the reality of the situation.

From my little understanding of labor disagreements....

Things ALWAYS SOUND HORRIBLE....right up until the deadline and then they get a deal done.

I believe both groups recognize the need for a deal to get done now...and they will.

Yeah, something will get done. Espescially in this case, where it is impossible to argue that the owner's are losing money. They just want to make more.

Things are different in the NBA for example, where there are several franchises in real trouble.

but if the union is successful in voiding the lockout insurance portion of the tv contract, they will have huge leverage and a deal could get done rather quickly. Particularly because guys like Jones have debt payments on new stadiums they have to make.

Oh sure, the difference is I've come to believe such is impossible to happen, any picks for players will be 2012 picks and only after the CBA has been settled otherwise this is mental junk food.
