You gotta admit these things: . The construction of this Jets team has been marvelous. Almost textbook. . Santonio Holmes was the best value trade in years. . They deserve everything they have earned. . They are the best team in the division. . They walked the walk after they talked the talk. . Mark Sanchez manages to pull these big passes out of his *** on a consistent basis now. . They are wonderfully coached. I could NOT BE MORE IMPRESSED. You Jet fans, deserve congratulations. Honestly..if these guys wore any other uniform other than the Pats, or Jets..I would LOVE this team. having said that...I hope they get their asses kicked this weekend. Honestly...I think Polomalu makes such a big difference that he was the difference in the last result. Steelers win by a touchdown in a great game.
The Edwards trade was a good one too, and the Jets caught a lot of crap from opposing fans for it. Edwards is a complete receiver. He's fast, he's got good hands, he's tough, and he can BLOCK. Loved the way he dragged the two NE defenders into the endzone.
I still cant get over the ********ing he got by the NBC announcers after he got busted for DUI. " Braylon Edwards is overcoming adversity" The same adversity he created.
Couldn't agree more about the coaching. You can hate Parcells for many reasons. Sending Rex back to Baltimore and hiring fist pumper is the biggest reason to hate him IMO. Braylon Edwards as a human being is waste of space.
Yeah, I took some heat when I said I wish Rex Ryan was our head coach about a month ago but it's hard to argue now.
Ryan has done a very good job. But we can't forget that Mike Tannenbaum had already assembled quite a roster before he got there. The defense was loaded. The offensive line was already the league's best. The running game was up near the top. An athletic TE and the league's best special teams coach. The offensive coordinator was already there. Remember, they were in 'win now' mode in 2008. Reminiscent of when Gruden arrived in Tampa. Tony Dungy and Rich McKay built it and Gruden put it over the top. What you like about Ryan is that he's one of the best in one aspect of the game. But do not lose sight of the fact that he's working with a seriously talented roster.
Wait. What?! Their defense was loaded? Are you kidding me? It was amazing that they finished #1 last year and as high as they did this year with no defensive lineman. The Jets have an outstanding CB in Revis and the rest of the secondary is average to below average. The line is filled with a bunch of no names. Scott and Harris are decent, but loaded? Rex is proving to be an excellent coach. And you might want to check that 2008 roster vs. last year's and this year's. They have one WR in common, no RB's, and Slauson is a rookie this year on the OLine. Didn't realize "win now" teams lasted for 3 years. Lucky Rex.
LOL! After the Jets lose to the Steelers all of you will come crashing back down to earth. Granted, beating the Patriots was awesome. However, if you look at the Jets-Pats games over the last 10yrs it's been a pretty even match-up. Even though the Jets have been horrible during most of those 10 years. Hell, even the "lowly" Dolphins don't have that bad a record against the "GREAT" Patriots over the last 10 years. Big Ben won't back down from pressure, if they even get to him, like Brady does. That Steeler defense is NOT the Patriot's defense. I hate the Steelers as much as the next guy, but the Steelers are going to roll over the Jets.
If you want to call Brady's sub-70 QBR 4 out of the last 5 games he played the Jets as "ownage"...well. Let's just say I wouldn't.
I have to give the Jets props for having the balls to trade up & getting their man. It has paid off for them big time. Wish we had balls like that and we did get the wrong fat man. I hope the Jets get slaughtered next week by the Steelers but big props for getting it this far.
The Jets start falling apart next season. They arent built for the long term. They basically have to win this year. Its actually a failed strategy in my book since they pinned their hopes on a rookie QB last year and 2nd yr QB this yr. If they were smart they would have added a vet QB two years ago to guide them through their playoff runs. Then they might have had a chance
well lets take a look at your team free agents QB Kellen Clemons (NYJ) WR Santonio Holmes (NYJ) WR Braylon Edwards (NYJ) WR Brad Smith (NYJ) OT Wayne Hunter (NYJ) ILB David Harris (NYJ) CB Antonio Cromartie (NYJ) CB Drew Coleman (NYJ) FS Brodney Pool (NYJ) SS Eric Smith (NYJ) OVER 30 CROWD QB MARK BRUNELL (41) RB LADANIAN TOMLINSON (32) ROG BRANDON MOORE (31) ROT DAMIEN WOODY (34) DE SHAUN ELLIS (34) NT KRIS JENKINS (32) NT SIONE POUHA (32) TREVOR PRYCE (36) OLB CALVIN PACE (31) ILB BART SCOTT (31) OLB JASON TAYLOR (37) OLB BRYAN THOMAS (32) tick tock, tick tock, tick tock
That's the PATRIOT'S all-time record while Brady is there. (If that number is right, I didn't look it up) However, and the stats clearly show, Brady has NOT owned the Jets. At least not recently. And you wrote "Brady owns the Jets", right? EDIT: I went back 5 years and their record is 4-6 against the Patriots in the regular season. (The 2 games are from the 2007 season where the Pats beat everyone...except the Giants.) If you add this last playoff game they are 5-6. Not "ownage" in the least.
They are still the PUNKS I thought they were....who doesnt still think they are punks???? What they are is a Blair White 3rd down drop from being eliminated in round 1 vs Colts. And a HORRIBLE day at the office from Brady who was off from the get go - INT on easy screen, and missed open guys all day, or held the ball and failed to hit the open guy immediately. They beat a DIV opponent which is common with 3rd time facing off, etc. In the NFL parity they are what I thought they were...capable of of advancing if the other team lets them by being off. The Jets get credit for being in the right place at the right time; but how they act, how they brag before anything is earned, how they conduct themselves - even following this NE game is CLASSLESS and PUNKISH. They are who we thought they were.
True, but right now they are in the AFCC game. Thats what they were built for. A quick run to the top. Throw it all out on the line and hope you can get a quick SB win. Sort of reminds me of the Marlins...sort of. Whether they can sustain it depends not on who they lose obviously but who they can bring in to plug the holes.
Jets are the luckiest team ever. Two straight years they lucked themselves into the AFC championship game. I can see things breaking right one year, but 2 straight years?! It's borderline miraculous. sent from my EVO 4G
It's CRAZY....hey, wait, I see what you did there.....as I say to both my Brothers-in-laws....enjoy the run......this is a game of runs for franchises that care.....and its yours in a small way right now. Go PIT, Go NFC in SB! BUF enjoyed their run as 4-time lovable LOSERS in SB. NE enjoyed their run as CHEATERS that won SB until caught. JETS can enjoy this small run as Punks that lose in championship game!
Yeah, lets act like PUNKS....the NFL needs that. Classless is a great way to be - what a legacy! Basically, lets be the like the old Pistons of the NBA (until they got what they deserved). Man, PIT cant win this game soon enough to put this to bed.
