http://nfldraftmonsters.com/news/character-concern-ryan-mallett/ Who knows if this is true or not? It will definitely be looked into by NFL security staffs and the scouting staff, and if their is a hint that this is true, Mallett's stock will drop like a stone in this draft. Not only does he have significant on the field questions, but he may also just be Matt Jones off the field. You cannot invest a lot into a QB with these kind of question marks, if true.

i have never had a problem with college players doing drugs per se. Thats college life for quite a few people. My concern where it pertains to character is what is his mindset coming out of college. Does he feel entitled to a pro career? If so I dont want him. If however he can convince me that he is ready to put behind his childish ways and work his *** off then I have no problem with it.
Well said Adam. I think what is important is how he approaches his habits going forward and not the mere act of doing the drugs. Going to a party school and being across the street from Florida State, I've seen my fair share of drug use. As I've moved onto the professional world I still see much of the same. What's funny is, many of these people are very successful at what they do. Judges...Lawyers....Engineers. I won't pass judgement on Mallet, because I'm no John Beck myself, but if he can show that he's dedicated to being a good football player, mastering his craft, and success in the league...I have no problem with what he does behind closed doors as long as he doesn't hurt himself, his team, or anyone else.
Hmm, why? If anything the future pro athlete realizing that coke would leave their system in 3 days or less would be a sign that at least they are thinking about the consequences. And folks, recall that this time of yr there are rumors a plenty on players, recall in 09 Matthews and Cushing were accused of using roids, turned out one did in the pros, one did not.
that's a good point. marijuana is the only drug that really stays in your system long. which is ironic because it's the least harmful. i wouldnt worry about it that much though. i think coke is not as bad as portrayed.
FWIW the version of this story that I've heard is that Mallet was seen doing Coke and Meth at various times, not MJ. I still like his game, think his footwork is poor like most other aspects of his game but then again, to me with a tall Qb that release is what seperates say Rothlesberger from Dan McGwire.
The meth thing would concern me but it is a totally 100% unconfirmed, unsubstantiated rumor. It would be like me saying "The rumor I've heard is that padre31 is a rapist". Prove you're not. So that's why I'd be careful saying things like that in public places. Also, I've been told that the the guys at NFLDraftMonsters are total bullsh-t and to not believe a word they say. Rumors of cocaine use for Mallett remain, to this day, totally unsubstantiated...IMO.
Pfft, this sort of rumor mongering happens every Draft Ck it means absolutely nothing at all. Like Carl Nicks getting a penny ante bust for public drunkeness prior to the Draft.
