Was on between 7:30 and 8am.....made some new points, confirmed some others..... 1) Bill Parcells is GONE. Not even "consulting" for us anymore. 2) Jeff Ireland is running the show, with "help" from Sparano. 3) Says that the FO has heard and continues to hear from fans, and asks for patience, they will get this right, just give them time. 4) Mr. Ross is interested in the team, not just glitzy orange carpet celebrities. He gets that the fans are disappointed. 5) Wants $ 225 million from Broward County bed tax to keep Super Bowls coming to So. Fla. Says that the Florida Panthers should keep their mouths shut about asking for public money, as they asked once again last year for $ 7.5 million (and got it) from Broward, and they are feeling threatened by the Dolphins. 6) Give Dabol a chance, he can't be judged on the talent level at Cleveland. See what he does here 1st before making a rash judgement. Much of the rest was fluff PR stuff. I hope later today there will be a link so y'all can hear it yourselves.
Could'nt be more happy about Parcells being "gone" at this point. What I find interesting is this sibling rivalry between the Panthers and the PHins. Had no idea this was going on. What on earth did the Panthers need $7.5 Million from Broward County for?
i thought it was a good interview... i liked how he spoke about information and the day and age we live in and the reason for the Daboll press conference, and the round table, etc... maybe we'll stop being so tight lipped about everything with Parcells gone and the fans will have access to some information...
Well at least Parcells is finally gone. I'd love to kick him in the nuts. I think a titty twister is in order as well.
I was informed last night that my ticket rep was Laid off, apparently many of them were. I wonder why Dee didnt mention that? Not a sign of good times if they are laying off ticket reps.
Nah, they are planning for the lockout. As for Dee's points, sounds about right, people may not like or want to hear it, however those are the facts of the matter.
I think they are getting dealt with a bit of harsh reality. The Dolphins have taken the fans for granted and now with the Heat putting "heat" on them, all of a sudden this openness and friendliness with the media. No doubt about it, they not feeling the love from So Fla right now and are doing everything possible to become KING in So Fla again.
Well if you haven't noticed (not that anyone does, and that therein lays part of the problem), the Panthers have one of the highest ticket prices in the NHL and can't draw more than 6,000 to 8,000 a game ; have crappy merchandise sales ; have TV and radio contracts that make them next to nothing ; have a cheap azz owner who refuses to spend any money on the team or FA's ; ohhhhhh and they haven't been to the playoffs in 11 years. They needed the $ 7.5 million just to stay afloat. And Broward county still owes so much on that stadium, they have to have them as a tenant just to pay off some of that debt. EDIT : There are 14 NHL teams with lower per average tickets than the Panthers $ 48.76 per ticket (for 41 games, that's almost $ 2000 for a season ticket per seat).
That is the reality of things, a bummer for the Dolphins Franchise as they can do very little to inject some positivity into the aftermath of a disappointing season. Which is a part of the reason why I think they should add some more CFLers to change the script to something a bit more fun to talk about during this loooonnnnggg offseason.
If you guys havent yet, i would go and listen to this interview on wqam.com Dee is one sharp dude that seems to get it. I have faith.
Don't tell me, show me. Anyways, I'm glad Duane Charles Parcells is FINALLY out of the building. Overrated blowhard accomplished a big fat pile of NOTHING for this franchise.
Did he talk about what hes going to do with his neutral site stadium problem.? It is this franchise's biggest weakness.
It's been 38 years since the last Superbowl win, 27 years since the last Superbowl appearance, 19 years since the last AFC Championship game, 11 years since the last playoff win. How much more damn time do they think we should give them?
As long as it takes. This is one of the more humorous things about the current Sturm and Drung, as if fans being pissy will mean SB's will be reached.
Certainly fans being pissy won't make us get to the SB faster, but those same fans are under no obligation to continue buying tickets, merchandise, etc. And if you are not going to make any changes, outside of swapping one bad OC for an OC who was even worse last year, then it is perfectly reasonable to expect less people to support your product. since that is what Dee cares about, he needs there to be progress this year. Patience is menaingless without corresponding progress. It's part of the reason I believe chad Henne won't take a snap next year, barring a calamity and that a first round QB is at least a possiblity
Of course, I'm sure Dee noticed that Cam Wake's jersey was not carried at the Dolphins Pro Shop due to a lack of interest. Well, the way I see it there has been measured progress, as fans also tend to forget: -AFCE is the toughest division in football, the Jets and Pats have been to what, 8 of the last 10 AFC Championship games? -3rd toughest schedule in the NFL in 2010 -7th most injuries in the NFL I see those reasonable points, then hear the pissiness, and it leads me to the conclusion that dolphins fans can be rather dumb at times as wishing crying pissing moaning does nothing to improve anything and even then we are: -3-1 vs the Ryan Jets -played all 4 teams in the Title games this weekend reasonably well, save the Bears and that was mostly due to the short week and Long tearing up his shoulder -added even more youth on the roster To me, going 7-9 with as crappy as Henne played in 2010 was a superb coaching job, then again I pay attention to such things. Imho Sparano will reap the inverse of keeping his job due to the CBA issues, it will be incredibly difficult to make a Qb switch in 2011, that means Henne very well could be the starter in 2011 by default. And yes, I think that is one tough break.
The Jets only started going to championship games the last two years. They were agressive in player acquisition and coaching and there they are. We are where we are. The division is not an excuse. Become a good team and compete with those guys. don't wait for Brady to get injured to make a move. Finally, if Henne is the starter, then we might as well fold up the tent now and start breaking down what bill cowher might think of Luck, Barkley, foles, etc.
Our division only has two good teams in it. They both made the playoffs this year and last. We are not the best division in the NFL. The AFC South and NFC South are better then our division and you might be able to argue the NFC and AFC North is better too. We might be better then the NFC West only. EDIT: Cowher is going to rake Ross over the coals next year. We will be paying him a ton more then we could have this year.
And Mangini Added Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Cotchery whilst we were "adding" Jason Allen, Ted Ginn and Samson Satele. Think it takes a bit of time to get over the effects of the worst drafting in the NFL for that time period? That is called 'reality', your opinion will not change the fact the Pats and Jets have been to 7 or 8 of the last 10 AFC Championship games, you may not like it, that is how it is. Well then, they had best get better at other positions and on other units to make up for it. That is also reality, Sparano got off on a bad foot in so doing by retaining Darren Rizzi to run the Special Teams, it is Sparano's *** on the line so if he wants his guy on ST then I won't begrudge him, however if we lose more games due to crappy Special Teams play he has no one to blame but himself for allowing it to happen. THAT is a mistake I can see from here, how can we finish 29th in ST rankings, and keep the coach, but finish 29th in TD's scored and clear the decks of the failed Offensive Staff?
Disagree, the AFCS has the Colts and also rans, the NFC South has had two terrible teams every yr for the last 6.
I understand that those two teams are good. They will be good for the forseeable future. That means we need to get better, starting and ending with the QB position. Once we figure that out, everything else will be relatively easy to fill and we can go about actually competing with those two teams. If this regime is too scared for their jobs to do the right thing, and identify the right QB then we are just killing time this season. Nothing of any particular value will be accomplished even if we win 9 games.
Kinda like us and the bills. Now it looks like Wanny is going to be the D coord in buffalo. That's makes our job even tougher. He was the worst HC in Phins history IMO (Worse then Cammy because I think the players refused to play for Cam), but he has always been a great D Coord.
Difference being, both Bills and Dolphins are climbing back into competitive status, in the NFCS the team that finished in first has finished last the next season and the last place team has finished first, that rarely happens in the AFCE as it is just to competitive. As for Wanny, remains to be seen as he is not the DefCord per se, he is more or less sticking a toe back into the modern NFL.
No, what's amusing is the people who think fans being "patient" will accomplish anything. If there's anything you SHOULD have learned from the last dozen years or so, it's that nothing we fans say or do means squat to the owners/front office.
Yeah, its sad isn't it ? 16 of the 28 NHL teams make it each year. The Florida Panthers are NHL's version of the LA Clippers.
Not so, not a single coach has made it three seasons, not a single GM has made it past 3 seasons since..well since Wanny was the "GM". And folks wonder why are results were so crappy from 04-07, 3 Head Coaches, 3 GM's, the idea that firing Staff is a cureall has been completely discredited out on the field, and yet there is the "waah" brigade demanding the same crap that has not work be done..yet again.
You are making the very unwarranted assumption that our impatience had anything to do with those firings. The OWNER made those calls, not the fans. And keeping a bad coach has never accomplished anything more than firing him. I can come up with an example of a bad coach kept that matches every one of our bad coaches fired.
What does any of that have to do with Wannstedt quitting, Saban quitting, or Cameron being one of the worst head coaches in history?
It still boils down to 1 win at home , fade down the stretch 2 years in a row ,that the gap has widened between Miami and NY/NE and we are no closer to having the QB situation resolved doesn't it? Still more questions than answers overall and for that after 3 years fans have a right to be snippy. This organization needs to take full ownership of why the fan base is angry and give them a tangible reason(s) to believe again.
