If that's the case, the new CBA can't happen soon enough. I'd make that deal in a heartbeat.

Let him play the retirement card, the Bengals would still own his rights and CP would also lose his money.
I would take Orton over Palmer, Young and Hassbeen.

The comedy value was from you giving up a third round pick in a heartbeat for a washed up QB.
I've read that book before bro. The ending sucks. :wink2:

sorry you took it that way but it was in no way to rub it in non-club members.
it was more it'll change your thinking that Palmers washed up like many think he is in this thread(me too before i read it). You see things different once a member breaks down a game and posts facts about player.

If a member of a fan board is so smart, then why is this board member not a GM somewhere?

We also had one of our top board members tell us that we're going after Vince Young. This was BEFORE, we even hired a real OC.

we also had one say Harbaugh was our HC its only a matter of time. Were are not 100% right all the time.
How many people thought Brees and Warner were washed up? I bet 90% in this thread did.

I still see no reason Palmer would accept a trade to a dysfunctional team when his goal is to ... escape a dysfunctional team. Just because we are slightly less dysfunctional?

maybe we should go after Caleb Hanie? he made some nice passes in a high pressure situation against a good defense. wouldn't offer much at all.. but hey, I found myself saying "Chad Henne couldn't have made that throw" more than a couple times when watching him..

Palmer would be a good choice for the Dolphins if the current regime thinks they have to win in 2011.

Making a change for the sake of change is no way to run a franchise.

How about try to get Palmer, and still draft a QB in the first round??

We don't have to settle for one or the other, you know!

  18. Hurricane

If it was that easy, I'd be on board, but the problem is, we would need to give up a draft pick to get him. The word around here (which makes sense) is a 3rd round pick. That would leave us without a 2nd AND 3rd round pick this April..... for what? A stopgap?

We could get Seneca Wallace (familiar with Daboll), Hasselbeck, Moore, A.Smith, Leinart, Bulger, T.Collins, Hanie, Quinn, Stanton, T.Edwards, L.McCown, Pennington, Thigpen, T.Jackson, J.Sorgi, Clemens, Boller, Gradkowski, D.Dixon, Volek, T.Smith, K.Collins, R.Grossman and possibly V.Young and D.McNabb without spending a draft pick.... assuming Vick and Manning get the extensions we all know they'll get.

From that list, I particularly like Wallace, Thigpen, Jackson, Gradkowski, Dixon and Smith for the mobility they have.... which I've already stated is the attribute a successful QB in the NFL today requires.

What I'm getting at is, I don't like the idea of giving up anything for a stopgap... Especially not a 3rd round picks; there's still a lot of talent there.

Neither is settling for mediocrity. But, you seem OK with that.

I'd rather have Gradkowski for free. We need all the picks we can get.

There is a difference between "settling for mediocrity" and thinking that the NFL is run like a game of Madden. It gets really exhausting seeing people come on the forums and say stuff like "We should trade our first round pick and vernon carey and cam wake for Peyton Manning." I swear I saw someone post that the other day. This isn't Madden people, the Colts would never take that trade. You can't just sit here and think that because we offer something for a player that team is going to give them up. And in the NFL you can't make changes simply for the sake of making changes. Look at the Patriots, Colts and Steelers. Arguably the 3 best teams of the past decade. Do you see them going out and making trades for the sake of making trades? It takes patience and shrewd business to build a good team in the NFL. I'm sorry if you can't understand that.

lol +1 He can bring Zach Miller and Michael Bush with him.

Gradkowski hasn't been able to stay healthy either though.

i really dont want to see palmer we need picks, we need to find A LONG terms solution at qb and not keep playing qb musical chairs every season let alone keep playing them in season

Am I the only Dolphins fan left who still thinks Chad Henne can be our long term solution?

no i agree i think henne can be the long term solution i think a lot of woes this year were the lack of communication between the oc and henne, i think henne has too many people in his head at this point, i think a new oc will do him good

I still have faith in him. Considering our Oline, Run game, OC, and Hartline being injured, I don't think he is the biggest problem here.

i agree the oline was banged up most of the year had no running game and an OC that was not on the same page as henne, i think we need to keep him as the qb because i really dont see much in a longterm solution in the draft.

No, I still do too. But we can't go into next season without serious competition. Rebuilding mode should be ending now, we need to start winning.

Probably. Henne regressed terribly in his third year, and he's lost his teammates. Kind of hard to expect improvement in Year 4. Hell, only reason this team is even keeping him is because he's in the last year of his rookie contract.

Trade our first this year to Carolina for their first and second next year. Package it together to move up and draft Luck #1 under a rookie wage scale next year.

As far as that goes this year is gona be short or lost but whatever it wont mean anything. Lets trade out and stockpile picks for next year. I am willing to wait it out one year to see a true re build
