Sad news. Denver had it last yr with Darrent Williams and now Washington with Sean Taylor. The Gun culture topic is for another day but what i do know the NFL lost a very good player and a father to a 1yr old child. R.I.P.

If this was an assassination, then why shoot him in the leg? If they wanted him dead they most likely would have shot him more than once, and not in the leg. The phone lines were cut outside the house, which is pointless in todays era of cell phones, but that indicates possible intent to be in the house for an extended period of time. All signs point to a robbery to me. I think they broke in last week and were scared off, perhaps forgetting their weapon, the knife, in the bedroom. But they came back thinking the house was an easy target.

I hope they catch the perps that did this. This is a horrible tragedy. I feel for Taylor's friends and family, and pray they have the strength to get through this.

If this wasn't a robbery/break in, then I can't help but think that this is karma. As bad as is sounds, just because he was a changed man, that doesn't mean his past couldn't have caught up with him. It's always sad to see someone with all the advantages in life choose to lead a very immature lifestyle. But we all make mistakes and have the opportunity to learn and do the right thing. Apparently Sean Taylor had really turned the corner in his growth as a human being. He did not deserve such a fate and it's sad to see this happen to anyone. As a 24 year old myself, it's very heart breaking and eye-opening to see someone like Taylor struck down in the prime of his life. Hopefully his loss can serve as a message to other struggling young adults. Using Taylors turnaround in his life as an example could help get many young athletes on the right path early in their athletic careers.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor, gone but not forgotten

I think Taylor will be with his teammates on the field Sunday. I would not be surprised at all to see the Redskins play a truly unbelievable game on Sunday.

I think if you cut the phone lines its more then a robbery, MUCH more. If you want to rob a place and you have any brains at all you wait until the house is empty, go in, clean it out, and move on before the owner returns.

This is sounding more and more like it was gang related and Sean was a target, either for an outright kill or for roughing up due to something they either wanted him to do or wanted him not to do.

Then why leave a knife on his pillow the last time you broke in? It was a death threat.

The guy knocked down his bedroom door to get at him.

It has hit or payback all over it.

I feel for the family, girlfriend and his daughter. From what I read he turned his life around, but sometimes the past can come back and bite you.

I guess time will tell, but they just said they are investigating if this was payback on some stolen ATV's???

And the other reason I don't think this was a robbery is the simple fact that they didn't take anything. First they break in and leave a knife on the bed while stealing NOTHING, and then they come back later, cut the phone lines, shoot the owner, and still TAKE NOTHING. You can make the argument that they second time they freaked out after shooting Shawn and wanted to get out before the neighbors called the cops but the first time? If these guys were robbers there is NO WAY they would have left without taking something. A dvd player, jewelry, something. I mean you know there was some stuff laying around since this was a multi millionaire football players house. These guys have some toys.

I feel so sick right now. I just woke up to this news and it really hurts me. I said before, it feels like I know him. I've followed his whole career basically since he started as a Cane and I've just loved watching him. His legal problems were always tough but when you see someone overcome a situation like that, and like he did for his daughter, it is moving and powerful.

After last night, it seemed like he'd be getting better. I thought he'd be okay, but this is just devastating.

Rest in peace Sean. I still can't believe you're gone.

I first heard about the shooting incident on the radio coming home yesterday thinking he would be ok, but that it could quite possibly be career ending. When I woke up this morning and saw the breaking news that he had passed away my heart just sank. Such a talented guy, and so very young. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and teammates. R.I.P Sean.

I'm too lazy to scan through posts. Though as tragic as it is, i'm going with Michael Wilbon and saying it's not shocking in terms of the guy. That is just based on his past. As someone who does some journalistic work, alot is left to be uncovered. I just hope that everything about him turning his life around was true.

I posted earlier in this thread regarding will to live. Sean had that will.
You can bleed out from a femoral bleed in less than 10 minutes, and, having
worked BLS units on volunteer and professional basis, I can definitivly tell you, will is the most important thing. If the person is ok with dieing, they'll die. If the person is isn't ok with dieing, they won't....Most times. That Sean got to the hospital alive is somthing to be celebrated.

I don't know if stuff from his past got to him. I keep a Mossberg 590 by my bed for protection, and, I don't have any enemies that I know of, so, that "Machette for protection" stuff is hyperbole and wrong.

This sounds like a systematic attack on him and his family. He should've gotten a protective detail.

**** of this is...Everyone's asking.."Did he havd a gun?".....Well, by god, if he had one, he might'vestopped this and saved his life.

Oh..BTW.....Burglers somtimes don't give a **** if you die or not.

I'm not in the buisness of cowering in a corner if my family is confronted.

Just remember....It can happen to everyone of us.
