Parcells never liked him, and offered him a laugh, that's all. Parcells wanted to get rid of him so he knew if he offered him crap, he would say no. That was Parcells way of making himself look good and JT look bad.

This might be true. I prefer Zach, but JT was awesome. I think the best all time could arguably be any number of guys from the 70's team (Jake Scott for example), but you could make an argument for JT.

Kinda like Danny? How many SB's did he win?

EDIT: A me guy would not have given money back to make the team better. He did that twice IIRC.

If you wanted JT to get a ring with the Jets then you were rooting for the Jets to win the SB...... Busted.

None of the 70's defenders lasted long after the SB runs, the Vern Den Herders and The Bull all more or less peaked during those SB runs.

Now the argument could be made that John Offerdahl was a similar defender, but Taylor was the guy for a decade and won a DPOY.

We were far more successful a team with Marino than with Taylor, that is not even close.

Taylor won that DPOY award and we finished..6-10, sadly enough he was our best player in a very dark era in Miami Dolphins Football.

He and Ricky Williams are symbols of a decade of really bad football punctuated by great individual performances.

I knew the JT versus Dan argument was coming. I was sitting here in suspense wondering who would be ridiculous enough to go there. Congratulations for biting.

Bagging on Marino to support Jason Taylor. You should have your fan card revoked. :wink2:

JT was offered a fair and reasonable contract to stay on here. Anything else said is horsecrap. He wasn't pissed it was on a sticky note, he was butt hurt he wasn't going to start. He rubbed it in after he left. He was also more responsible for our 1-15 season than anyone else IMO, as well.

F*** JT in the goat ***.

Agree with everything above, but how was JT most responsible for 1-15? The few 1-15 images left in my memory bank are Beck, Lemon, Ginn family, and turning our thumbs this way ^

JT repeatedly called for Capers to be HC before he ever met with Cam, in the papers, the locker room and in the front office. He publicly trashed every decision Cam made before the season even started from the draft to his offense. Then when the games came around JT "short armed" his play the whole year and it was his defense that cost us the whole first four games of the season. He was a major cancer to that team and Cam never had a chance to get the locker room away from him. Then when it was all said and done, he went on dancing with stars and basically told this FO to piss off.

he could of went anywhere besides the afc east and i would have 100 percent supported like everyone on here would just like we did for zach when he went elsewhere or madison or surtain or any other great dolphin but to go to the jets was wrong dead wrong IMO

I noticed two "Yes" votes. So we have two Dolphins "fans" wanting the JEST to win a Super Bowl. I think a round of bans are in order.

I agree. Anywhere but any of the AFC East teams.

KP...you were the first to go there. You can't bring up an argument against JT by saying he hasn't won us anything and not expect anyone to say a plethora of names of people who didn't win us anything. You could argue that he did more for his role to win us anything then 90% of any other players who won us nothing.

No one bagged on Marino. Where is the bagging? I must have missed it. Most people here who dislike JT do it because he was on DWTS. Some others because he went to the jest. But to ignore what he meant to this franchise, for a decade, is silly.

i will forever love what JT did for the franchise but it is going to take a long time to heal him going to the jets, if he went anywhere else there would be no hard feelings

I think we'll forgive in time, maybe his name in the ring of honor will look something like this - Jason Taylor*

I'll let you guys fill in the asterisk with some truely witty comments

I used to view Dan Marino as a god among men and I wouldn't have wanted him to win a Super Bowl with the Jets. So needless to say I voted no. We can go back to July 2010 and reproduce the rest of this thread/argument. JT's character gets trashed and Parcells largely gets a free pass. I will never understand and am not going to worry about trying. Tuna directing the Jets to hire Rex and then giving him coaching advice has done more to help the Jets win the JT's play ever could.

If JT had "hit" Rex over the head with that Gatorade bucket instead of over him i might have more sympathy. That memory sticks.
