First Round - Ideally, Miami will trade back into the mid 20s area and recoup the second round pick they traded away in the Brandon Marshall deal. This would likely be a second round pick in the 50s or so. With the first round pick, I would then solidfy my offensive line by taking either Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida or Stefen Wisniewski, OG/C, Penn State. The Dolphins have a desperate need on the interior of their offensive line. At right guard, right now they have to hope John Jerry takes a step forward in his second season. He had a down rookie season at that position and really needs to show that he is dedicated to progressing forward. Right now, Joe Berger is simply overmatched at center, and the Dolphins have no one who can fill the pulling left guard slot well at all. Either Mike Pouncey or Stefen Wisniewski would come in and start immediately either at left guard or at center and help give Miami the kind of punch up front they need in the running game.

Second Round - After getting this pick by moving down in the first round, the Dolphins will ideally address their second most pressing need on the board - the tight end position. If the Dolphins are picking in the 50s at this slot, then the guy I would target is Luke Stocker, TE, Tennessee. Luke Stocker has the kind of size this team is looking for at the tight end position. He is a very good receiver who was sorely underused in that department at Tennessee. He's a solid blocker overall but could stand some improvement. I see a lot of Jason Witten in him at times. He would come in and immediately give the Dolphins a second tight end that they would feel comfortable with utilizing in the passing game in their two tight end sets.

Third Round - With this pick, the guy I would be targeting is Syracuse tailback Delone Carter. Delone is a compactly built guy at 5'9", 225 lbs, but tackling him is like trying to tackle a bowling ball. Delone is a terrific in between the tackles runner that has a good burst, is quick to and through the hole, and has impressive power after contact. Delone would be a good start towards rebuilding the Dolphins offensive backfield.

Fourth Round - Field position is very important when it comes to winning, so with this pick, I would take a guy who is a jack of all trades sort of player. He has experience as a return specialist, wide receiver, running back, and quarterback. With this pick, I would target Kentucky wide receiver Randall Cobb. I might even trade up into the latter part of the third round to ensure that I get both Carter and Cobb. Randall Cobb has the kind of ability this team needs to improve their downfield capabilities on offense, but more importantly at this time, he would give their special teams unit a shot in the arm.

Fifth Round - With this pick, an ideal situation would have the Dolphins being able to double up on the tight end position. There are a couple of guys I like, but the better value may actually be at quarterback. With this pick, I would take Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy. The Dolphins will be on a quest for a guy who brings similar ability to the table as Chad Pennington, and McElroy could very well be that guy. Greg has been a very smart, heady, and accurate passer at Alabama over the past two seasons. He has been a winner and does everything you could want a quarterback to do.

Sixth Round - The Dolphins don't currently have a 6th round pick. They traded it to the Dallas Cowboys for offensive lineman Pat McQuistan. With that said, if the guy I'm thinking about with this pick is still around, I would make a move up to get him, using one of my seventh round picks and a future pick. After trading up, I would select South Carolina tight end Wesley Saunders. Wesley Saunders was a very overrated prospect coming into the season, and he has had some issues off the field. I normally don't take fliers on such players, but this is a guy I might burn a pick on just to see if I can keep him in line and get him to play up to his ability. He's a monster sized tight end who has the ability to be a complete guy, but he has been a career underachiever to this point. This is the kind of pick that if it pans out in the long run, you look like a genius for making it.

Seventh Round - With the final pick for the Dolphins in this draft, I would go with another offensive lineman to help bolster the depth of this unit. Toledo center Kevin Kowalski would be my pick. He's got decent size for the position and exceptional power.

I would be fine with Pouncey and Carter. I like McElroy too, as you know.

    Well.....

It fits the bill of what you think an NFL team should be built like......addressing our interior line is important...although I would really like to see if we can land Logan Mankins...and if that happens I cant see spending a high round pick on another interior lineman. Although late in the first....the idea of Mankins and Pouncey with Carey and Long...thats a mighty good line

Good draft. Good work. My only complaint is that you don't have us drafting Cam Newton!!!

    Kidding!

Would be very happy with this, Im a big fan of fixing our interior OL one way or the other. If we could do this AND get our 2nd back? How can anyone complain?

A solid OL and alot of players start to look better than people thought they were.

I'm all over the first pick.
I prefer Wheezy, and think he's gonna be a better Pro, but I think either is a VERY solid pick.
I have to strongly disagree with Stocker.
While I think he will be an "okay" TE, what we really need is a seam buster, and he's waaaaaaayyyyy too slow for that IMO. The kid I would take at TE is probably Rudolph if in the 2nd, or wait till later and take Greg Smith, Lance Kendricks or maybe even the kid out of Nevada.
I like the rest of what you have A LOT, but think we also still need to address ILB and perhaps another Olineman somewhere.
All that being said, I could live with what you have projected at this point.

Been hearing a lot about Carter as of late. MJD/Michael Turner type of back? How is his overall speed?

Stocker is the only pick I really dislike. If we went TE in the 2nd I'd much rather have Kendricks or DJ Williams. Heck, I'd almost rather another OL than Stocker personally.

We kept that 6th rd pick by virtue of finishing with a better record than the Cowboys KB.

I think we need an edge rusher on the defense as waiting for Misi or Francis or Moses to learn how to do that seems a bit foolish to me, one man passrushes are easy to stop, we need a partner for Cam Wake.

We were never "losing" a 6th rd pick anyways, it would have just been a swap of 6th rounders if we were worse than them.

    Stocker can't block my mum.

But I think Pouncey and Wis are outstanding.

Hmm, should have made that "if McQuistan plays worse in Miami than he did in Dallas we get a second rd pick"

I like KB's structure, never cared for theoretical trades as who knows if they pan out, and who would we trade with as the Chargers are picking #18 or #19 this yr, a 4 slot jump is not worth a #2.

Remain convinced we have to add another passrusher.

    From GBN Report:

Luke Stocker also dominated Von Miller when blocking him one on one. He's the best tight end prospect in this draft, not Kyle Rudolph, though I think they are easily #1 and #2 for their complete ability.

Also, Lance Kendricks gives good effort as a blocker, but he just lacks the size and strength to be effective at it. I like him as an option to move around as a H Back type, but for my 2nd tight end, I want a guy who can be an in line blocker in two tight end sets. Luke Stocker can be that.

And how many 2 TE sets do you feel we'll be running compared to using a TE who can be moved around after hearing this regime state they want to open things up?

If we can find a good second tight end, I feel we will be running more two tight sets than many people want to think about. Listen to Daboll talk when he says we will spread it out when we have to, and we will tighten it down when we have to.

Many people look at the New England Patriots and think they are a spread team. They aren't. They play just as much two tight as they do four wide. They even play a good bit of three tight with Aaron Hernendez flexed out.

i hope we avoid Wes Saunders like the plague, his character and work effort are both awful. dude was given so many chances at SC it isnt funny. if you want to take a late round flyer on a Gamecock, grab 6'4 WR Tori Gurley, who will be a good value for someone as a 6th or 7th rounder. great character guy, caught 44 passes in Alshon Jeffries shadow at Carolina this year, with a QB who almost never made it past his first read, which was Alshon.
