I guess you could see this coming back when he was put on IR. No ill will towards him, I wish him the best.
Not going to get a lot for a 32 year old cornerback coming off a knee injury that caused him to miss a season and a half.
Finally we can put to rest the Will Allen will start here next season theories that surface from time to time. The guy is done.
Give that money to Champ Bailey, since we were desperate enough to sign Al Harris to have a veteran CB on this team we should go after Champ, he can contribute on the field and teach our young CB's some things
With all the young talent, it is the right move. A salary cap is coming, and that money could be much better spent elsewhere in FA. I expect Sapp to join him.
The writing was on the wall for this one last season when they put him on IR. His price tag was too high and his dependability was questionable. With guys like Vontae Davis, Sean Smith and Nolan Carrol at the CB position now we have the young talent to compensate. Interesting tid bit to illustrate just how much turnover we've seen in the past 3 seasons, Only 8 players from the 53 man roster of the 1-15 team are still part of this organization: Paul Soliai, Channing Crowder, John Denney, Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Yeremiah Bell, Will Allen, and Vernon Carey. It's possible that Soliai, Denney, Brown, Williams and Allen will all be gone this off-season, leaving us with only 3 players not acquired in the past 3 years, and 2 of them are average at best. When people want to know why we're not winning, look no further than this. Meanwhile you look at Pittsburgh and see that they have 11 returning starters from their previous Super Bowl team. Continuity goes a long way to achieving results.
He did last year, as did Porter a few years ago. We held on to long in both cases. Gotta give the Pats some credit on knowing when to stock up on picks with vet players.
The dolphins f'd will allen this yr and its only right to let him go somewhere else. He DID NOT need to be IR'd.
Love Will Allen. Very underrated and helped bring along Davis and Smith. I wish him the very best moving forward.
