http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-dolphinsassistants Did we let our new Offensive Coordinator pick his own assistants or did Sporano and Ireland pick the assistants for him? The last thing we need is another hodge-podge of Dan Hennings that are not on the same page. Are we making the same mistake AgAiN~? "Coach Tony Sparano also hired his son, Tony Jr., as offensive quality control coach. . . ."
The selection of this OC when Cleveland's offense was worse than ours last year will be like sinking the Titanic over and over and over and over again. All of these offensive coaching moves (made out of total desperation) are like finding the dumbest guy in the world and putting a siren on him. Sporano is everywhere where he doesn't belong and no where that he should be. I still think he should have been fired for being the fumble fingered meddler that he is - and remains to be. I am very skeptical that anything will improve the way this is being addressed. Unless something changes 7-9 here we come. Don't they even trust this new OC to find his own staff? Pretty sad. This is kinda like your first birthday party, everyone else gathers your friends for you and most of them you don't want to play with. This offense has failure written all over it.
You do understand that offensive quality control coach doesn't really do much, right? He's basically a glorified film watcher. I'm not too worried about Tony Sparano hiring his son to watch film.
it's not just tony's son though, they moved dorrell feom wr coach to qb coach with no experience there even though word is our new o.c will be the "qb" coach as well(do we really need another 3 coaches for one position?).they also hire ike hilliard to coach wr's which he has never done before(good reciever though) and tony got tired of seeing his son layed up on the couch and pretending to be a defensive coach so he hired him for the offense and we hired campell(another ex player) to coach the tight ends.lots of green coaches on the offensive side of the ball this year.
Yeah and I think the excuse will be to Mr. Ross, when they bomb next year, will be that that just need one more year to get it right. These guys are gonna snow job our boob of an owner for another year, just wait and see.
I wholeheartedly agree. This has all the makings of a cluster#uck because they are falling into the same stupid routine that they did last time. Putting people in positions with very little, if any, experience and expecting superbowl results. The only true result is that when something "out-of-the-box" happens these rookie coaches are oblivious and then we implode on the field. This has all the makings of an offensive mess. Even some of the guys on ESPN have commented that this FO has no idea what they are doing. Everyone from our owner and his HC fiasco, to the new OC, to Dorrell, to Hillard and beyond is a patchwork of goofballs. I would say cut this years expectations in half and then in half two more times. These problems are bigger than Tony Jr. I have said it before and I'll say it again; if I wanted to hire a guy to fly a 747 I would hire one that has actually flown one before. When a new OC isn't allowed to pick his own assistants there is a problem already.
Snow job our boob of an owner? Riiigghhhttt. A man doesn't become worth 6 billion freakin dollars by getting snowed. I think people need to step back away from the circling drain for awhile.
I guess you like your nepotism up front. There is something wrong about hiring your family to a coaching job after what Daddy produced last year. I guess the family will collect more severance when they both get fired. It's all about the Parcells buddy system.
I just don't see the Dolphins improving the offense with the offensive coaches they have hired this off season. With only one pick in the top two rounds of the draft and a big question mark as to whether any quality free agents will want to come to a team with this coaching staff. I think it is far more likely that the Dolphins will be in a battle with the Bills next year for third place in the division than in a battle for a playoff spot.
When he came her Dorrell was thought of as future OC material, so this is a natural progression. People forget all the great coaches all started somewhere.
No? You mean you can't believe everything you read on the intrnetz? - Whassuppp Peter Stitches? Are the fishermen coming back to your area yet?
Let's wait and see what happens, it cant be any worse then last year! Henning was a joke as the OC. The jury is out.
I imagine a little oil just helps it slide down...besides, that nasty "blackened" food they make down in those parts couldnt taste any worse.... no? Of course thats just my opinion. People around here cant get enough "blackened" anything.
Like it or not, Sparano might be the only HC crazy enough to take on this circus. A rookie owner making rookie mistakes, the local media stirring up the pot endlessly and a fan base on the verge of mutiny. And oh by the way, there's a good chance training camp with be abbreviated. I can’t imagine many assistants would want any part of that either. As far as I’m concerned, Sparano is the only one flapping in the breeze and can do what ever he wants.
I don't usually get "blackened" but if it is cooked correctly (which it often is down here at local restaurants I frequent) it is really quite good.
As sad as that is: you may be right, and I apologize to everyone for my acidic comments regarding the new offense, that really is doing nothing new. I am just very, very irritated and I am not alone. I am sorry if I directed my fury at anyone, it was not my intention. My blood is just boiling after yet another 7-9 season at the result of the revolving door of faces that were totally ineffective. If 'ignorance is bliss' - the handing of our favorite team is Eden.
I dont care until I see the product on the field. We could have hired some 12 year old kid from Bosnia for all I care as long as he get its done on the field. If he fails with the product on the field then we can criticize, until then, just a waiting game.
