I believe it was during our 2nd game against the Bills. Not sure on the exact formation. Henne drops back. He turns to fake a handoff despite there being no one there to fake to. Then he turns around and heaves the ball downfield, overthrowing Kevin Curtis who is open running free.

My brother and I couldn't help but laugh at that play when it happened. It epitomized the Dolphins offense in 2011. We called that play, "Playaction to no one, then bomb it to the new guy." We both figured when Henne threw the ball that it was headed for Brandon Marshall. You know, since they had more chemistry and timing than someone who just joined the team a few days prior to the game. We then tried to envision the coaches installing that play in practice earlier in the week. "Alright, here's what we're gonna do. Henne, you're gonna need to really sell this fake. Most NFL safeties are dumb, and will think its a run even if there is no one to receive the handoff. So after you fake it to no one we need you to quickly locate the receiver you have the least familiarity with and throw the ball as hard as you can in his general direction. Got it?"

Thats Henne's Way Of "Stretching The Field" , Throwing the Ball As Deep As Possible With No Intent Of Completing The Ball, Teams Caught On, He Became More INT Prone

Play faking to no one is no more useless than play faking when it's 3rd and 15....

kevin curtis, fresh off the street, and a battle of testicular cancer, he became the man in our explosive offense...fuc$ing Henning didn't care anymore..subconsciously.

Chad Henne and Ronnie and Ricky are about the worst play fake combo in the NFL. It was stupid silly watching them even try to attempt it last year. Another big reason why our running game did not work and defenses did not respect our passing game one little bit. They knew they only had to make sure the first 15 yards from the LOS was covered.

Why would we send Marshall deep? Curtis is faster and thus, was a better option for a deep threat. It was overthrown for sure, but the playcall actually wasn't bad since, Curtis was there and open and Henne made the right read. It was actually one of Henning's better plays...evne if the play action was pointless.

It just deepens my belief that Henne is not a real NFL starter. You HAVE to complete that ball to get ANY respect from the bad guys. If you cant threaten the deep ball, nothing else will work, including the running game.

Yeah you complete it to a guy you have practiced with for about 3-4 days.

    Makes sense.

Kevin Curtis our lone deep threat? Thats pretty neat Henning.

because it's something we "would'nt do"?we were so terrible at setting up plays last year it was utterly redonkulus.i remember one of our last games i think it was that we kept having marshall run these curl patterns on the left side of the field and i kept expecting that after the 2nd or third one we would actually have marshall run down the field in hopes the cornerback would eventually bite on the curl leaving marshall alone and open deep ala "setting up the play" but no,we kept throwing the curl route and after the 4th or fith one the cb broke the route and intercepted or came close to intercepting the ball.it befuttled me that henning was oblivious to what how to "set up" plays.

Being fast isnt the only way to get open deep. Running good routes, setting up corners, and executing double moves is how you get open deep. That's why you use Marshall, instead of the guy that Henne has no timing with. How is Henne supposed to anticipate Curtis' speed after only playing with him for a few practices. Thats why it was overthrown. He was throwing like it was Ted Ginn. IMO, it was a horrible play call. Utterly ******ed in every way.

Still useless. May as well run a fake punt on 3rd down. Or better yet, a real punt.

OT: I actually experimented with a strategy in Madden where I punted on 1st down every time, and allowed my defense and field position to do ALL the work. I won 14-0. Never ran a single play. This was against a decent level of opponent online. Needless to say it was humiliating for that person.

iam not a henne fan, but you cant expect accuracy on the deep ball with how infrequent its pulled out in real games....The lack of ryhthm on our offense was condusive to innaccuracies.
