    just take the numbers and hope for the best.

    Next time we need to do something where we have a little control over the slots we have.

    Lawler is a good call, I wasn't even thinking of him.

    Alberto Del Rio wins it. Fairly suprising. I figured he would be in at the end, but didn't think he would win it. I really thought they were going to go with the Santino shocker which would have been HILARIOUS, but probably would have sent the internet fans into a complete meltdown (including Finkle). Pun's faction had a pretty good outing, and had a nice, extended run to help get his group over, although I felt they should have prolonged his personal experience.

    Quick Stats:
    Punk had the most eliminations, Cena was second. Cena lasted in the rumble the longest, Punk was second. Either Justin Gabriel or Zach Ryder were in the Rumble the shortest. Diesel and Booker T were the two main surprises and both got BIG pops.

    I will have the updated points for this site to find out who the champ is, shortly.

    Edit: the John Morrison spider jump was INSANE. Definitely a highlight reel spot that will be replayed for years.

    C.M. Punk = 5.5 points
    John Morrison = 0 Points
    Michael McGuilicutty = 2 points
    Great Khali = 1 point
    Heath Slater = 0 points
    Dolph Ziggler = 0 points
    Santino Marella = 0
    TOTAL = 8.5 Points

    2. Ray Finkle (2, 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38)
    Daniel Bryan = 1 Point
    Yoshi Tatsu = 0 points
    Chris Masters = 0 Points
    Mason Ryan = 2 points
    Kofi Kingston = 0.5 Point
    Diesel = 0 Points
    Alberto Del Rio = 17 Points
    TOTAL = 20.5 Points

    3. TheAnswer (3, 9, 15, 21, 27, 33, 39)
    Justin Gabriel = 0 Points
    Husky Harris = 0.75 Point
    David Otunga = 0.5 Point
    Booker T = 0 Points
    Jack Swagger = 0 Points
    Drew McIntyre = 0 Points
    Randy Orton = 3 Points
    TOTAL = 4.5 Points

    4. Big E (4, 10, 16, 22, 28, 34, 40)
    Zack Ryder = -5 Points
    Chavo Guerrero = 0 Points
    Tyler Reks = 0 Points
    John Cena = 11.5 Points
    Sheamus = 1 Point
    Alex Riley = 0 Points
    Kane = 1 Point
    TOTAL = 8.5 Points

    5. Unluckyluciano (5, 11, 17, 23, 29, 35)
    William Regal = 0 Point
    Mark Henry = 3 Points
    Vladimir Kozlov = 0 Point
    Hornswoggle = 0 Point
    Rey Misterio = 3 Points
    Big Show = 3 Points
    TOTAL = 9 Points

    6. V.O. (6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36)
    Ted Dibiase = 1.5 Points
    JTG = 0 Point
    R-Truth = 0 Point
    Tyson Kidd = 0 Point
    Wade Barrett = 3 Points
    Ezekiel Jackson = 1.5 Points
    TOTAL = 6 Points

    I changed the scoring to eliminate the negative points for being eliminated since...most of us would end up negative. And Lucky and V.O's scores were adjusted to compensate for the lack of an extra wrestler.

    Congrats to Ray Finkle on winning the Rumble Pool. If only Santino had pulled it off!

    E,
    Ryder ****ed you as he was the shortest entrant. Had he stayed in slightly longer, you would have gotten 5 more points simply by him getting a zero. You would have had second place. Cena was a money pick.

    That may still change as Gabriel went out quickly as well. Matter of fact, now that I think about it. A FEW of these guys went out quickly. I will adjust if need be once the actual numbers come up.

    I would have LOVED it if Santino won. I've been on record numerous times that I think a mid-card wrestler should win the Rumble once out of the blue, just to give the Rumble more unpredictability. Plus it would give the mid card winner more of a rub/heat for the time being until he finally loses his WM title shot in a match at the next PPV. Although it would have been better if Hornswoggle won it by last eliminating Khali.

    I read the results and it looks it was a very meh PPV in general. I wonder if people liked seeing a 40 man Rumble or not. I'm surprised Triple H didn't return last night but maybe the WWE figured people would be expecting it so they backed off.

    Obvious WM matches:

    Cena vs. Miz
    Edge vs. Del Rio
    And some form of CM Punk vs. Wade Barrett, either it be a huge Nexus vs. Coree match or just one on one, unless they want to have Punk face Orton

  12. Samphin

    Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

    Punk vs. Orton is the rumored match. Miz vs. Cena and ADR vs. Edge seem to be the top three feuds.

    As for the updated ratings, that gives ME five extra points with Punk being the Ironman (I thought Cena nipped him, the announcers said as such) so I go to 13.5, Eric loses 5 points, but also gains 5 for Ryder and stays at 8.5., and V.O. loses five points for R-Truth and drops to 1 points. Finkle still wins.

    A couple of other things to point out. The Chavo Guerrero spot was pretty funny and well deserved. Booker T appears to be stciking around for awhile (mainly as an announcer) and I assume Diesel will stick for a little while too, even if it is just to get through Mania.

    I assume Kong will come out shortly and DESTROY Eve, who is the new Divas Champ. Natty's double sharpshooter was neat.

    Book Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes for WM as well, since the WWE went to Mysterio (who is legit injured and may need to take time off after WM) and asked him to hand pick an opponent and he picked Rhodes.

    Also there is talk of a possible Big Show vs. Kevin Nash WM match. Apparently the stare down between Show and Nash was booked on the fly during the Rumble match (when Nash was down a ref went over to him and told him about it). The WWE seems very happy about the reactions Nash got last night. Nash had signed a short term deal. I actually think Nash would be pretty good on the mike as an announcer.

    Booker T. signed a long term deal as a manager/announcer and part time wrestler but due to the reaction he got last night word is that might change, especially since many feel he can still go in the ring.

  15. Samphin

    Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

    Yeah, that was something I wanted to address as well. The 40 man thing went by somewhat quickly (The actual time of the match was fairly close to the 30 man version), but the crowd started to peter out towards the end. Especially when Cena was eliminated. I think the WWE knew that this might happen and structured the match accordingly, having Punk dominate early to generate heat, add Cena at the midway point to wake everyone up, and then backload the Rumble with "name" wrestlers like Orton, Booker T, Diesel, Sheamus, Kane, etc.

    Most of the jobbers and lower level wrestlers were in and out early one when the crowd is still feeding off the momentum from the match itself. I will say that a couple of the eliminations were overlooked or way too plain. C.M. Punk's elimination should have been made a bigger deal in my opinion. As should have Dan Bryan's, but that is nitpicky.

    Overall, the Rumble is always great, but it did start to have a law of diminishing returns aspect to it. Gun to my head, I go back to 30 wrestlers and cut out a lot of the fat. You can have the same rumble minus the following guys and probably not miss a beat:

    1. Zach Ryder
    2. Yoshi Tatsu
    3. JTG
    4. Tyler Reks
    5. Tyson Kidd
    6. Kozlov
    7. R-Truth
    8. Chris Masters
    9. Chavo
    10. Ziggler (he was in the title match previous)

  16. Samphin

    Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

    I would actually love to see Booker T and Nash work together as a sort of pseudo MEM in the WWE. Have them come out in suits and "watch" matches of young superstars. You can have them interact with a couple of the wrestlers during the interview segments (have them be impressed with Daniel Bryan, for example) and ultimately hand pick their prodigy to train and become a champion.

    Obviously the guy will be a heel to start and eventually, you can have one of them get the prodigy (lets say Dibiase) to beat the other mentor down. The beat down mentor ends up getting his own prodigy and bam, instant feud for a month or two.

    Was that just a promo/teaser for Sting that just played on RAW? If so 2/21/11 (the day after the Feb PPV) should be a interesting. Either way it was a pretty sweet promo.

    Not sure where Finkle got Sting on that promo. It WOULD be sweet if it was. But a western style themed vignette that showed nothing but shoes seems impossible to decipher. I assume it is for a "name" wrestler as you don't see that type of buildup for new wrestlers these days. I'm not sure who else would be out there to cue up like that though. Sting is th eonly real free agent unless someone like Brock is yanking all of our chains, but that would have leaked by now.

    Trench coat in the 2nd promo and it is very similar to the 1997 Starrcade promo with the rain/darkness.

    It's either Sting or a returning Undertaker, in my opinion.

    The only reason why I don't think it's the Undertaker is because 2/21/11 falls on a Monday and Taker is from Smackdown. Although at WM time Smackdown & RAW guys bounce back and forth all the time.

    Also you can probably add:

    Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole and Alex Riley to WM. Vince said he wants to reward Cole for his heel work and also Lawler since he never wrestled at a WM. I personally think it's a dumb idea (surprise huh?) only because this is the biggest PPV for the company and I hate seeing them put useless matches on the card instead of giving other matches more time. Plus the match will suck.

    Cole has been learning to take bumps recently and if Riley is in th ematch, chances are he will be taking the brunt of the punishment. I am never a fan of announcer feuds as it takes the emphasis away from the wrestlers, but, I gotta admit, I would LOVE to see Cole get his *** kicked. Also, there is a certain flow to creating a PPV card. Sometimes you need a match like this to help energize a crowd for the next one. There is a reason the women's match happened right before the Rumble. It acts as a buffer so that the crowd wasn't completely burned out early.

    It is a weird balance though. If you add too much suck to a show, it brings it down all together. But a 10 minute segment where Cole gets his *** kicked, Riley is embarrassed and King gets his Wrestlemania moment, is fine with me...especially if it means JR comes out to replace Cole afterwards.

    Oh ans checking around, Sting is the fan's choice for who they WANT it to be. I have not heard rumors at all that he was looking to jump ship, but it would be huge news for me personally if he did. My initial thought was UT as well until I realized the dates. It also happens to be the date right after Elimination Chamber so perhaps I will try to finaglel some Raw tickets to see whoever this is live.

    I've always been a big Cena defending, I thought he got a bad rap from people because he was always a hard worker, never seemed to mind to job and was a good guy behind the scenes but yeah I think both Cena and even now Orton are overexposed. I'm frankly bored whenever either guy comes out now. I think it was kind of telling that during the Cena/Orton Rumble exchange the crowd was dead (whether it was because of the length of the Rumble and people were burnt out or people are just bored of those two fighting).

    I think Cena needs to turn heel to get his character fresh again, but the WWE will never do it since he makes tons of money for them as a good guy. And no matter how much Cena overkill there is I'd never wish for Triple H to return. Nothing will compared to Triple H's 2001-2004ish run of destroying everyone.

    Well either way it was a hell of a promo and kind of sad that more people are talking about minute promo that over what happened on RAW last night. I do think it is going to end up being Sting, either way I know I'm watching RAW that night. I really haven't been that hyped for a teaser promo since Jericho's 1st debut and his 2nd return.

    If it is Sting you can probably bet the WWE would release a Sting DVD by the end of the year which would be a must own. And you'd have to think he'd take on the Undertaker at WM this year since it appears Triple H is probably going to fight Sheamus (if he returns at all).

    Jericho gave an interview yesterday and stated he is talking with the WWE about a new deal and they are 90% complete, just have a few minor details to sort out. If true you'd have to think Jericho will be returning in time for WM. Wonder who he'd fight? Maybe he could face John Morrison (although last night it looked like there might be a Morrison/R-Truth feud starting up) or maybe Booker T. which would be a pretty sweet match. Of course he could focus on Orton (who put him out of action) and Punk/Nexus could go after Barrett/Coree.

    Either way having Jericho back is a GREAT thing.

    The NY Daily News reported this morning that Sting signed a 1 year deal with the WWE, so that that for whatever it's worth.

    Of course a local paper in Fresno, where 2/21/11 RAW is taking place was advertising the return of The Undertaker that night. So who knows.

    Maybe it's both guys returning?

    Main Event for the 3/28 RAW is apparently going to be John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton and Triple H (maybe he's the guy in the promo) vs. The Miz, Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk and Wade Barrett.

    I guess this might mean, if true, Triple H will face off against Wade Barrett and not Sheamus at WM.

    As much as I love Jericho, it's pointless to have him beat the Undertaker. Taker should retire with the streak or if the WWE really wants him to lose it he should lose it to someone like a Wade Barrett who's young and has a bright future ahead of him in the business. An established star is the last person who should beat Taker.

    I wouldn't give Jericho the streak buster either. At this point, it is probably better for Undertaker to remain unbeaten. But Jericho is a name and osmeone who could put on a good match with Taker and tell a story, similar to HBK, and honestly, THAT is what you need with this streak business now.

    And Barrett McIntyre or Sheamus would be my pics to beat Taker if they ever decided to go that route. I actually have scenarios for each.

    This! and it makes sense that it would happen on RAW because tons more people will be watching compared to Smackdown.

    maybe it plays out like this; Taker makes his return at the Elimination Chamber in some capacity, then shows up on RAW only to get destroyed by Sting, in his first appearance, to set up Wrestlemania.

    if that happens, i am buying a PPV for the first time in years! heck, if it is Sting and Taker at Mania, i am buying no matter how they set it up.
