Keeping up with the GM-League this year I have noticed some silly moves, especially when it has come to the coaching carousel this offseason.

    WHERE'S THE LOVIE?

I guess one two NFC Championship games, and one Superbowl gets you a pink slip. Once again the Bears show off their mental stability by letting Lovie Smith go, and looks like the former Rams defensive co ordinator is getting offers to run the Colts defense.

It's the Bears, they figure that the Cubs can't be the only loveable losers in Chicago so just like that guy from the movie Pi, they made the brilliant move of sticking a drill in their collective heads and this is what they came with.

Granted Cowher is a great coach but the Bears aren't the Steelers and Bill won't have fourteen years to win a Superbowl, nor does he have that many years left in his comeback.

    X's AND O's

Talking about coaching decisions we've got two former linebackers up for defensive coordinator jobs with the Patriots and Eagles respectively. Mike Singletary has been offered the job with Philadelphia and Kevin Greene with New England.

Singletary is a former head coach not known for his X's and O's, but he is one hell of a motivator. I guess instead of calling plays he'll be pulling his pants down from the press box. I'm not sure he's seen any X's or O's other than the ones in his Valentines card, surely there was a more experience coach out there. I guess Andy doesn't mind letting his opponents rack up even more points next year, the Cowboys and Giants are chomping at the bits after hearing this bit of news.

Then you have New England who have had a long line of great coaches calling the defensive plays, ever since the new brain trust has taken over they have gone the complete opposite direction. Don't get me wrong Greene is a great linebackers coach, just look at what he did in Green Bay but unless the game plan is to stop Ric Flair and Arn Anderson I don't think things will go well in New England.

That's it for me this time around, just remember Peter Kiper is still football smarter than you!

Thats exactly why we hired him actually...

But in all seriousness Singletary has had a lot of experience as an Assistant Head Coach as well as Head Coach, so it doesn't really make sense saying "there's a coach with more experience out there." Also his abillity to motivate will help the entire team (think DeSean Jackson) and if you look at the stats he did a decent job with the 49ers. His defense was 13th in the league in yards allowed. Go ahead and look at the defensive line up and tell me if you think anyone could have done better with the talent and the injuries he had to deal with this year. He will bring a fasted pace, hard-nosed attacking mentality to our defense that we have lacked since Joe Johnson passed away.

Besides after all the talent I am going to acquire Gandhi could be the DC and have a top 5 defense.

I looked at Kevin Greene ut decided to go with Patricia who has coached oline, dline, and linebackers and has a degree from rpi so I know dude is smart. And his beard is epic!

We all know it's Belichick's defense. What I'm hoping is that Greene brings some enthusiasm and energizes BB instead of going with the status quo. Greene's specialty is getting to the quarterback and that was NE's weakness. We opted not to promote Pepper Johnson nor Josh Boyer... and didn't want to get into a bidding war for Patricia.

    From Petrino With Love

Once again it's that time of year that we see a college coach take the reigns of a pro team. This time we have both Stoops and Ferentz take the reigns of two struggling clubs.

Stoops arrives in Arizona to no quarterback and a chance that his best offensive player is ready to leave. The brain trust shows it's fiscal responsibility again and we're a mere year away from the Jake Plummer era returning. Stoops will not pull a Petrino, but the lure of college football will make his tenure shorter than Saban's.

I Bidwill you good luck Arizona.

The Broncos dipped into the college pool as well, instead of a bevy of cheerleaders we got Kirk Ferentz. I'd spell this out for the majority of you less intelligent than myself... he coached Iowa, that guy who's suppose to be running a PRO team is from Iowa, you do the math.

If you're from Iowa, it equals 4-12.

    Grading On A Curve

The asking price for Chad Henne is a first rounder. The asking price for Kyle Orton is in the range of two first rounders.

I don't know what kind of bell curve the Dolphins and Broncos are grading on, but Henne is just another in a long line of second round quarterbacks that just didn't cut it in Miami. I know the strategy of asking for a first rounder and getting a second but the Dolphins will be lucky to get a fourth or a clue.

Kyle Orton on the other hand has proven to be a very capable Quarterback but will not command the two first rounders, not with so many young pivots in the draft. He's hitting his prime, and may follow the same route as Matt Cassel and start elsewhere after working under Josh McDaniels.

I can see a first round being exchanged for Orton, but it'll be from a team not in position to draft a quarterback in the first round.

Remember Bidwill, and bid often because whether you grade on a curve I'm always in an A class of my own.

    PENNY PINCHERS

The name of the game for most this offseason is cutting as much salary as possible. With the CBA expired and many of the top stars in their last year of their contracts there have been some gigantic contracts that have needed unloading.

Denver had to move Elvis Dumervil because of his 14 Million dollar contract, now it's up to some of those teams who might not be considered an annual power but have the space to add some top albeit over paid talent to bring them to that next level.

Not everyone can be the New England Patriots and have a great young roster with plenty of movement under the cap, so to those teams thinking about adding the next 10 Million dollar man, just remember in a volatile market things can crash a lot faster than you expect.

    WHO'S TAKING MANNING TO PROM?

We all wanted to be there, taking the prettiest girl in school to prom but would lose out to the quarterback. What happens when the prettiest girl is that quarterback?

Indianapolis is in that position where they have the inside track to take Peyton to the prom, but here comes the Titans who have made it known that they plan on stealing Manning off their arms. Tennessee has been cutting a lot of cap to ensure they have enough to lure the NFL's best quarterback away from the only team he's known.

Is Peyton Manning worth 20 Million dollar or more and the lost of two first round picks? If there is any player in the league it is Peyton Manning, but much like Bret Favre landing in Minnesota it will be a win now mentality except the window in a little bigger with Manning.

This is exactly what the league needed this year, two division rivals fighting over the best player in the league, but it also leaves room for any other team with two first round picks to come in swoop the prize and possibly become the league's prom king.

    STOLEN DRAFTS

One of my insiders has stolen a possible draft plan from the Minnesota Vikings, the first of many possible drafts we will be acquiring over the next couple months.

Round 1 – 12 JJ WATT, DE (Wisconsin)
Round 1 - 23 NATE SOLDER, OT (Colorado)
Round 4 - 105 AUSTIN PETTIS, WR (Boise St)
Round 5 - 136 KJ WRIGHT, LB (Mississippi St)
Round 6 - 168 TERRELL MCCLAIN (South Florida)
Round 7 - 205 SCHUYLAR OORDT, TE (Northern Iowa)
