So, I've heard that it's been an on-and-off affair with putting together a JLA movie.
Now it's back on? makes sense with Green Lantern, Wonder Woman coming back with the new editions of Superman and Batman. Has anyone heard anything different?

    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=21147

more surprising, is that this link says that currently, Superman and Batman are not scheduled to be in a JLA movie. Seems really stupid considering how much this movie would cost to not include the 2 big guns. they want this to compete with the Avengers, but you don't see the Avengers movie without Thor and Iron Man

Great! Just so long as they don't miscast it like they did with the one that was cancelled.

Well, couldn't be as bad as the horrible idea of casting Nicholas "Duh" Cage as superman.

Christopher Nolan has been very outspoken about the Batman character appearing in that movie as long as he's heading the franchise and now with him being one of the ones in charge of Superman it makes sense there too. I'd have to think that once Nolan leaves the Batman franchise he'd still be involved in some form like he is with Superman.

Wow can't believe it's been nearly 2 years since a post in this thread.

"News" broke last night that Joseph Gordon Levitt is in talks to play Batman in the Justice League movie currently scheduled to be released in 2015 (although that will probably change due to the new Star Wars movie and Avengers 2 coming out that year as well as timing issues). JGL will reprise his role as "John Blake" from TDKR along with another character from Nolan's Batman films and speculation is Gary Oldman as Comissioner Gordon. There's another rumor that he will make a small cameo at the end of "Man of Steel" coming out in June to help bridge the two universes together (ala what Marvel did in setting up The Avengers movie) and set the stage for the JL movie.

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I liked the John Blake character from TDKR and think JGL is a very good actor, however I really don't have any interest in seeing him as Batman (or anyone else as Bruce Wayne as Batman). I'd much rather DC not do a JL movie and keep Superman and Batman in separate universes making their own movies. Or if they really feel the need to do one do it ala Pixar with all CGI animation.

I just think having a Batman reboot so close to a JL movie will end up hurting the Batman and Superman franchises.

Of course this is all according to a "source" so who knows if any of this is even true or will happen.

I would be on board more with JGL being batman, as opposed to someone else....at least it would make sence chronologically with how Rises ended.

But now you don't have Bruce Wayne as Batman and now you're extending Nolan's Batman Universe and almost forcing the next director of the next Batman series to follow the same tone/feel etc. Why not just get someone else to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Batman reboot instead and have that actor/director start fresh?

Look I totally understand the studios point of view trying to continue with the success of the Nolan franchise but Nolan said his story and it ended, it's time to move on and bring in fresh blood. If the studio wanted to do a "Batman Beyond" type movie with JGL I could have a better understanding for the reasoning behind it but WB is putting a lot of stock that the fans will "buy" someone other than Bruce Wayne as Batman not only for the JL movies but for the Batman reboot movies too. I just think it's way too risky and there's more harm than good potential here, especially since the John Blake character already had a lot of backlash from fans already.

I really don't see JGL being a good Batman, but I think he would make a great Nightwing. Justice League HAS to feature Batman, as basically he is the leader of the JLA.

I agree he looks just way too young to be a bad *** and all. He'd be a perfect Nightwing but yeah I can't see him being Batman ever.

He got a bad rap. Those Batman movies were horrible, but not because of him or Kilmer, but because the scripts were horrible and Joel Schmaucer is the devil.

Clooney as an actor would have been an excellent Batman/Bruce Wayne with a solid script and directing. Val Kilmer...not so much.

Agreed. It was actually the studio's fault for messing with Batman Forever, so I put the blame all on them for that one. The original cut of the movie was much darker and really went into the whole Bruce blames himself for his parents' death. The studio changed it to lighten it up and make it more family friendly. You can see the deleted scenes online or on the Batman Forever special edition DVD. Here's hoping WB will one day release the real cut of the movie like they did with Superman 2 and the Donner cut. I thought Kilmer was a pretty good Batman but kind of wooden Bruce Wayne.

Batman and Robin was crap but Clooney was a pretty good Bruce Wayne in my option. He played the "player" Bruce Wayne side perfectly. He'd actually be a great choice if WB ever decided to make a live action version of The Dark Knight Returns but that will never happen because of B&R.

For Batman Forever? Yes, the studio forced edits and cuts to get away from the darker tone of the film to a more family friendly one. For Batman and Robin, no, never, he's to blame and even he admits it.

Of course, I actually like Batman Forever even with its silliness and flaws. It's my 2nd favorite movie from the old Burton/Schumacher series. That's not to say that it's a good movie but I watch it when it's on and watch the DVD at least once a year.

Really? What's not to like? Every Batman suit should have nipples on it.

In all seriousness though I pretty much liked the designs of the 2 costumes, but Two-Face and Riddler were HORRIBLE in this movie. Both of Schumacher's films were horrendous, mostly due to his overuse of neon ****ing colors used in every thing imaginable in every scene.

unfortunate series of events culminating in me having to take my daughters to the worst movie ever that was Ice Age 3 (or 4, I can't keep track). So, I could agonizingly hear batman in the next theatre while I watched the crap movie that my daughters didn't even like.

I tend to overlook silly things like the Bat-nipple. Yes its completely silly but something small like that wouldn't bug me.

Anyway Tommy Lee Jones totally hammed up the Two Face role and was trying to "out Jim Carrey" Jim Carrey but I thought Carrey's Riddler was fine, definitely a throw back to the 60s TV show. Again I don't take the movie very seriously in the same way I do for Nolan's films. I think it's a fun Batman film but not a great one. It hasn't aged well at all and it totally a product of the 90s (a film like this would never get made today with the way comic movies have evolved). I thought the way they handled Dick Greyson/Robin was pretty well executed. I think some of the unfair criticism of the movie is because it gets grouped in with Batman & Robin but when it first came out it was very well received. Don't get me wrong it has plenty of flaws and things I'd change but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.

I'd agree on Carey. when you take the film for what it is, Carey actually made a very good Riddler. Jones was a terrible two-face.

Batman Forever and Batman & Robin sucked balls...period!

Gotham City looked like neon spiked, LSD tripped rave that was so ridiculous, it completely took away from the original storyline by Tim Burton, the darkness of Bruce Wayne/Batman and replaced it with an LSD & XTC laced Saturday morning cartoon.

I was so thankful Christopher Nolan rebooted Batman and brought the Dark Knight back to his roots.

Burton definitely had that dark feel for Gotham and the characters however Burton's films are far from perfect, especially Batman Returns (which really isn't even a Batman film, just uses the characters). Burton had a lot of flaws in his two Batman movies.

I do enjoy Christoper Nolan's movies. I am sad that he turned Batman into a pu**y.

I do disagree, I enjoyed Batman Forever. That was a fun movie and did a good job of introducing Robin in a movie setting. Honestly that is one character that is difficult to get right. Of course he totally destroyed the good character with Batman & Robin, which is one of my least favorite films of all time.

I wonder what I hate more Electra or Batman & Robin?

agreed. Burton's movies were slightly better, but still a travesty. When you select "Mr Mom" to play Bruce Wayne, the movie is already severly handicapped.

I thought "Mr. Mom"'s portryal of Bruce Wayne was much better than Christian Bale's and his Batman voice was about 10x if not 100x better.

I think the problem with Burton's movies are for a movie named Batman, Batman never felt like the main character.

It might have been my mindset, however I thought it did a horrible job of capturing the character Elecktra. It totally didn't understand the villains and destroyed Typhoon Mary. Jennifer Garner is a terrible actress. The beginning scene is the only scene in the movie that I felt worked. The little girl story line was boring. Elektra passed the first scene is boring. For some reason the villains die in a puff of smoke.

That is all I can remember now because I haven't seen the movie since it came out.

I didn't mind Keaton in the role. I thought he was a pretty good Bruce Wayne, probably not the most believeble Batman build wise though but still thought he did fine.

And yes one of the main problems with Burton's films was that he focused way too much on the villains because that's what Burton was more comfortable with. In Batman Returns, Batman/Bruce Wayne are barely even in the movie. Again I like Burton's films because I grew up watching them so they will always be special to me but as stand alone Batman films there are a lot of problems with them.
