Well with yet another Kolb rumor popping up, to me Young is far better than Kolb as well, and his acquisition cost is far lower, we have one Qb with a 3 yr plus body of work as a starter and we have the other Qb with maybe 7 career starts, one would cost a later round pick, the other a #1 pick.

The preferrable Qb is rather obvious.

Thing about Kolb to me is that the Eagles always win trades. It's damn near like 100% that they seem to get the better end of the deal by far, and if they are pushing a first or second, I wouldn't touch it. For a 4th I'd take a shot, but I think he is way overhyped.

Drafting a QB is still my main choice, but Young would be an ok short term backup plan. At the very least make Henne beat him out.

So then 17 and 3 against teams like the lions browns and bills? That seems a bit better than a team I remember playing in Miami this year

And they may be looking for payback for the Lorenzo Booker trade..

    Agree though, to me:

    1. Kyle Orton
    2. Vince Young
    3. Matt Hasselback
    4. Kerry Collins
    5. Alex Smith
    6. Matt Flynn
    7. Bruce Gradkowski
Those are my preferred options for a Qb in 2011, Kolb is not on that list as I'm not willing to go into a "must win" season with a guy with 6 career starts under his belt, with Flynn he would not be here to replace Henne, he would be here as legitimate competition.

I think Gradkowski is a solid darkhorse candidate, almost peferrable to Hasselback or Collins.

He is off the menu with the firing of OC Bratowski, apparently most of the offense did not like him Cedric Benson included.

I've, for the most part, disagreed with you throughout this thread, but for the sake of the conversation here, let's say we do actually get a veteran QB this year via free agency; how would you feel about Seneca Wallace?

He's very mobile and has experience with Daboll. Also, unlike Vince Young, he's not mentally unstable and can read defenses.

    Just a thought.

everything should be a consideration, if the price is right
we have an entire offense to rebuild & it starts in the trenches
why overpay or lose picks in pursuit for what might not be out there
better to focus on top franchise quality picks & free agents only

@ the right price, there are a number of competitive QB's available
without compromising the reconstruction of the offense for 2011
next season may be a better year for pursuing QB's
if everything else is set we can go for the BigBrassRing in 2012

nothing is written in stone, we'll only know after the fact

Well Wallace is an interesting prospect for us simply because he is quite accurate, but his problem is he is already 31 and really does not have more than maybe 10 starts in the NFL.

Say what folks will about VY, his play on the field is a definite known commodity and he is well under 30.

I've had this same thought, and think that having a QB that knows what Daboll wants done would be an asset for us, regardless of what other ways we choose to address (or not address) the QB position.

Absolute no to Kerry Collins. He's almost 40 and won't take you anywhere substantial anymore.

If I'm going to take a chance on a veteran that could recapture a little past glory I'd prefer Hasslebeck, Bulger or McNabb, if they think he can run the offense they want to install.

Other than that, I might take a gamble on a guy like Smith or Leinart and if they're lucky they could land a late bloomer. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

I think Collins would do fine in our offense and would be cap friendly, suspect Bulger is a lock for Arizona and McNabb looked like his legs gave out on him.

Leinart doesn't have enough career starts to really be what we need, and agree on Hasselback as to me the defenses in the AFCE are more clever than physically imposing, the Jets and Pats and Bills would not fool him via scheme.
