This is not Dolphin related but hell, it's the Super Bowl, and there's not a whole lot to talk about. Time to plan for great food to go with the game. If ya go by a team theme, we would have a wedge of cheese covered in ketchup. I am hoping for a few better ideas. Anyone have any?
Yeah. I'm gonna look for a prop bet that a punter will hit the suspended tv system. It's gotta be like +5000 or something.
"Prop bet?" I never heard it called that. The guys in Veges call them "Sucker bets." You must play Lotto.
I'm going to smoke a butt and take it over to the actual party location. Wife won't let me throw a party at our house this year.
Can't win if you don't play, or so they say right? My buddy and I share a Bowmans account, and we usually do well during the season, and then bet it all for the Supe Bowl. Go big or go home. Most of our wager goes on the spread or money line, depends on who we like that particular year. We bet the Giants on the ML for 50% of balance, then Giants on the spread for 30% of balance, and the last bit we bet props - we made a killing that year. Plus we both one a half each of the squares game at the bar, another $300 each. Then took PIT on spread and lost but won some props and squares again to off minimize the sting. We then gave everything back the next year, as we bet hard on IND. Anyways, prop bets are ok. We don't play the coin toss, or first score type, kind of bets. We look for value with nice plus lines, like, and this one has comes through more times than not, no team to score three consecutive times. We look for things like that to keep the game even more interesting. Just a Super Bowl thing, we don't prop any other week.
Humus is for chicks man....... Screaming hot Chili. Homemade Jalapeno Poppers stuffed with cream cheese. Hot wings and TONS of beer. Yep I am off on Monday!
I used to make homemade meatball subs. I'd make the meatballs to about 65% the size of a cue ball. Homemade sauce of course. Then get baguettes from Publix. Cut them open, and spread a teaspoon of minced garlic on each half. Then slice 1/2 a stick of butter long ways into strips and lay them on each half. Get a block of mozz and slice it up and cover each bread half. Sprinkle lightly with garlic salt. Back at 350 until the cheese starts to melt then leave the door open and switch it broil. You have to watch it at this point, and soon as it hits a very light brown take it out. Slap on the meatballs and you're good to go.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/asian-glazed-wings-recipe/index.html Here's some great wings from Rachel Ray. Not scorchers but, ya can adapt. Good stuff, quick and easy.
Just ground beef, egg, and bread crumbs and garlic salt. Then bake them. I do the same thing but I fry them in a pot and then add a basil tomato sauce to finish off the process. You can then freeze them in portions and just re-heat with the sauce on demand. They make great sandwiches with provolone cheese.
I used to fry them, but they came out too "soft". I bake them on 425 and they get crisp on the bottom and come out a better consistency, IMO.
Probably BBQ a roast all day and put some chicken thighs on later in the day, some cole slaw and maybe some fresh bread.
A little Mex for Dallas. Shreded beef, pork, and some fish taco's. Fresh red and green salsa, re-fried beans, burritos, Mexican green rice, and tacitos.

Ha I'm doing something similar to take to my buddies Super Bowl party! Right on. 1. Huge pot of Spicy Hot Chili 2. Sausage jalapeno poppers...(I slice the jalapenos in half, fill them with sausage/cream cheese/crushed red pepper mix, then wrap them in bacon...and into the oven they go) Tasty little twist 3. My famous homemade eggroll pizza rolls and marinara sauce. Made in a deep fryer.
Wife will be hitting Publix tomorrow. 12 pack of Hieniken light , shrimp ring , chicken breasts and legs for grilling , Some cubed beef for grilled skewers and Veggies and dip. Might do some Turkey chili as well. More then just a Superbowl , its also a celebration becuase the Jets are not there and we were sparred a weeks worth of Rex Ryan at his obnoxious Ahole best.
I'm going to keep it easy this year, Spicy Beef Chilli, Meatballs, Shrimp Ring, Mozza sticks, probably some Ribs, and some Wings. Maybe a few other finger foods here and there, and of course some beer. Just haven't decided what I'll be drinking yet.
We sometimes make a killer meat lover's chili with cubed beef, pork, and Italian hot sausage. Something else worth trying is mini pierogies, a mashed potato and cheese filled dumpling, which we deep fry. Pain to make but Publix sells them frozen, Mrs T's is the brand. Great with salsa or just plain. One more is a sweet potato quesadilla, mashed sweet potato, shreded pepper jack cheese on a flour tortilla. Brush with a little oil, sprinkle with ancho chile powder or cayene pepper, and grill or pan fry.
Not bad, but try mixing hamburger with ground pork sausage (Italian is best) 3:1 ratio, add dried oregano, basil, parsley (fresh is best, chopped), salt, pepper, minced garlic, egg and bread crumbs (not much)....then bake them at 425 and you have some really tasty Italian meatballs....
Had them last year....very, very good. You can add some minced ginger as well.... Adds a bit of a bite to them...
For me, too often people try to complicate beef. I've always found that simpler is better. Like meatballs or even steak. Steak with just garlic salt, onion powder, lemon pepper and some butter are better than any blackened, rub, marinade, beer base, etc., I've ever had.
Grilling hamburgers & hot dogs (already cooked in beer), dip & chips, and Cheetoes, with homemade banana pudding for desert !
Funny, we actually did and kicked up the hot pepper flakes a few notches, think it was double. They were still not "Hot" but really good and quick.
