like to hold on to him in a coaching/advisory capacity
clearly the best offensive football mind in the franchise

I don't think he'll get many offers. The NFL can see he's probably done. Maybe a team like the Cardinals bring him in because they have nothing else.

Not unexpected. The guy is done. I hope he retires before he loses that arm.

Also, I'm not sure where everybody gets that he's some great "coach". I don't think the guy is a dummy, but what makes anyone think he could coach? Did he coach up Henne? No. Did he get Lee or Henning to do anything different? No. I'm not saying he couldn't be a good coach, but right now anyone who suggests they know for a fact that he could be is doing nothing more than guessing.

Great. Now who do we get to take 2 snaps and hurt himself then ride the bench for the rest of the season?

Well, I've learned not to count CP10 out, however for us he is just to superflous for our needs, if Henne plays badly or is injured having another injury prone backup behind him whose arm is probably done simply makes no sense.

I'd rather have Kerry Collins as the backup for a host of reason, but besides health, I suspect Henne has learned pretty much all he can from Pennington, and Collins and Henne skillsets are/were very similar so to me Collins can help Henne in areas maybe where Penny cannot.

It would be more of a shock if the Phins DID resign Pennington. 4 shoulder injuries to his throwing arm = NFL playing career over.

I thank Pennington for his time as a Dolphin but father time has taken toll on his ageing body.
That said for the team we need to fluff the pile in Qb's and put atleast one if not two new students in these spots for open competition. The answer is not J Russell either lets bring in fresh meat, someone who really churns for that chance to make things happen, a drive to win. Not a spoiled whiner either (hint Vince Young).

Unfortunately he's still the best QB on the roster.

Isn't Ronnie Brown technically still on our roster until the new CBA is finalized? :jt0323:

  17. I like Penny but lets face it he is done. I can not imagine him passing any team physical after last season. I dont know if he would make a good coach or not but I do not want to see him on our player rooster, it is a waste of a spot. I still think V. Young offers the most value and would be a good replacement for Penny. I like Orton but do not want to give up picks for him or anyone else. I think we are forced to look for a veteran QB who has some starting time to compete with Henne I would preferr to do it via FA. I do not think a new OC is going to put faith in a QB with an arm as questionable as Penny's.
