Lions RB Kevin Smith to Dolphins: "come get me"

This proves? A blogger for the PBP is not GM of the Miami Dolphins. I specifically used the qualifier "if" (you may have heard of it), and him getting a shot does not mean he's talented. Still not gonna fly bro. Lex hasn't shown anything in his time playing and compared to Kevin Smith's stats, and skill set, he's just not nearly as good. But by all means, have feelings about things. Feelings usually bring Championships, don't they.

So, wait a minute, you're saying you'd be comfortable next year with Hilliard as our starter, and Kevin Smith as our backup? No Ronnie, No Ricky?? Wow...

Thank god for Jeff Ireland then.

Sorry bro, just can't get on board with that, not at all.

Don't you understand, this is thephins.com. You must be 110% in support of one person an 1,110% in opposition of the other. There's no middle ground here.

If Ricky and Ronnie go in free agency they will not be options to start in our backfield. Lex will obviously move up from his special teams role and Smith would compete with him. From what I know of Smith he is injury prone and probably couldn't handle being an every down back. Since Smith will probably never come here we are all debating in a vacuum.

IMHO if Ricky is that miserable being in Miami and wants to move on we should let him, and the only reason Ronnie Brown didn't get injured this year and actually played for a full season was because he played at half speed and miked it knowing that if he got injured he'd be worth nothing on the free agency market.

It is my hope that neither Ricky nor Ronnie return to their part time and half speed duties in our backfield. It's time to move on with younger, faster and more resilient backs. If it's Lex - fine, if it's Kevin Smith - fine, if it's Kory Sheets - fine. Lets just move on.

I think you should find another person in another thread to pick a fight with. I am sorry you didn't like my opinion. Thank you for the insult.

I get the feeling that if Kevin Smith didn't go to a Florida school, then this thread wouldn't exist.

Kevin Smith is a below mediocre running back. Plenty of better options available after the 2nd round of the draft and in free agency.

That kid is a good versatile RB. Surely better than most of the Patriots RB's. He's a better Kevin Faulk who can come in and take a good chunk of carries. You must have never watched him play in his Rookie or Sophomore years.

Considering the first time I heard of him was when he played for the Lions, I'd be here ITT.

I'd really like to see us pick up Darian Sproles (sp?) from San Diego. I think he could add some real speed here. Doubtless; the Free Agency market this off season will be very interesting.

    I thought you might like the following tweet. . . . .

"Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland has a much higher opinion of Lex Hilliard than Tony Sparano and thinks he can rush for 1,000 yards if he had ops".

Really, you resurrect a thread that hasn't been posted in for 5 days to try to get in one last jab, and you come with a tweet from Omar Kelly? I just want to point out two things, first being that this is not a quote from Jeff Ireland, this is Omar's "impressions from his time in Mobile, Alabama." Second, and most importantly, twitter is not your friend. In a time of the year where the best liar wins, don't expect any truth to come out of any GM. Especially if you're reading it on twitter and damn sure not if it's Omar Kelly's twitter, neither are a reliable source.

I'd still love to have Kevin Smith on this team even though it wont happen due to him being an RFA. I seriously don't get how people in this thread can call him "below mediocre" and say the things they have about him. They must have never seen him play, that's the only explanation

I also sent KingMotion a private message about this saying that I hope we get Kevin Smith. This wasn't meant to be a stinger. I am not the kind of guy who likes to fight with anyone. I just thought he would find this interesting, I wasn't trying to be tart-tounged or nasty about it. I just remember how this threat ended and thought it was worth posting. This is hardly an "I TOLD YA SO" thing. It's just general babble.
