He was on 790 last week explaining how things went wrong with him and how his wife has stuck with him thru all this. He said he is still struggling so he needs all the support he can get.

    Been there done that...

In the last 15 years, only two Dolphin quarterbacks have recorded a passer rating of 90 or better in 4 consecutive starts.

    Chad Pennington, and Ray Lucas.

That honestly wouldn't surprise me. He had Ricky Williams, who was KILLING it that year.

I don't normally pity people with drug problems, until they get help. Still don't really feel sorry for the guy, but at least he's trying and that's what matters.

In my case, I'd be the perfect one not to pity. I chose to do all the recreational drugs. It took me a long time but eventually it got the better of me.

In Lucas' case, he started taking the pain killers because he was in pain. Little did he know, he had an addictive personality. That's something we are either born with or not. It's not a choice.

I'm certainly not saying Lucas was the greatest thing since sliced bread... I just think his first start with 6 turnovers overshadows his performance in the other games he started. It's not Lucas' fault Ricky averaged 2.6 yards per carry against the Jets and it's not Lucas' fault the defense gave up two 50+ yard TD passes against the Bills. That last game against the Bills, Lucas got hurt so Fielder came in, he went 5 of 9 for 15 yards and an INT.

Please explain what sins he committed for his addiction to be considered comeuppance. Because he didn't light it up on the football field one year? Really?

Apologies if I'm misreading the post.

    You're misreading.

I meant that I wished him well in fighting his personal demons (addiction).
My comment about karmha was regarding some comments on the situation
that I think are less than classy. Addiction is a hell of a thing, and I just
think that if we are supposed to have all this "class" as a fanbase, we should
probably be more charitable, that's all. YMMV.

I see him all the time on SNY....I would be tapping that Jeane Coakley chick and converting her to becoming a Dolphin's fan. Anyone having to report regularly on the Jets would have to be hitting the bottle.

If that Buffalo game can net you a 93 I now have zero respect for a "qb rating" that many already laugh at.

I hear ya, I think it's skewed that way because of a TD pass in 11 attempts gives a high TD percentage without any interceptions. NFL recognizes passer ratings in games if a player has at least ten pass attempts. The passer rating number also doesn't take into consideration fumbles, which was a problem for Lucas.

But even still, that's a heck of a piece of trivia for Lucas. Fiedler didn't have 4 consecutive games with a rating over 90 in over 3 years as starter, neither has Henne in 27 starts, neither did Marino in his last years going back to the start of the 1995 season.
