http://www.katytimes.com/articles/2011/01/30/sports/doc4d45dfeda6d81420831503.txt This is the most interesting article I swear I have ever found. If what Dalton's father is saying is true, it means Bill Parcells remains a part of the Dolphins and will assist in this years draft.
He has said that he maybe would stick around for the 2011 Draft, say what one will about him we have not had draft misses with high picks regularly since he was hired.
A team can miss on an occasional pick, but we did not have Jason Allen/Ted Ginn/Samson Satele/John Beck back to back to back to back. Missing that much just kills a Franchise. Put it this way, no one is comparing Vontae Davis to Jason Allen.
I guess I'll give him credit for Bledsoe. Thought he inherited him. Pennington is solid when healthy, but never achieved much success. Although both are capable of winning a Super Bowl under the right conditions. To Parcells, the ideal quarterback is one that won't make mistakes. In this regard, Pennington was perfect. It is also not a coincidence that a Parcells team was most successful running a package that featured no quarterback. Simply because its the one position he could never fully control or understand.
Lol no, I agree 100%... I was trying to convey a sense of sarcasm with the smiley, you know, with all of the Henne-related emotions around here
Time for him to go...... this draft is where Ireland needs to show us what he's got. No more blame game when it comes to who wanted who.
Pennington didn't have much success and Parcells never could fully control or understand a quarterback? Get real. Bill has his faults. He's not very good at actually evaluating talent himself, but his approach with quarterbacks, his 11 quarterback commandments, and his philosophy concerning quarterbacks is sound and proven. As far as Chad goes, he's only the most accurate passer in NFL history and has a strong career yards per attempt average that shows his accuracy wasn't because he just dumped the ball off to running backs all the time. Chad is a perfect example of why physical skills is overrated and mental skills are underrated when it comes to scouting quarterbacks. There are very few quarterbacks that understand the passing game the way Chad does.
That I agree with, not that I mind Parcells being involved, but "Daddy" has to say goodbye sooner or later.
I have no respect how he executed his departure under the teams current state of affairs, but he agrees with me on Dalton...one of the few that have him pretty high in the qb rankings.
I honestly don't even want his input..... he just needs to go away. And hell, how do we know which team he's going to recommend what player to? Seems he gives better advice to those that just ask for it.... At this point I believe I know what we have as far as the coaches....... not much other than Nolan. I want to see what Ireland is made of.......on his own.
I was thinking the same thing last night when I was reading through the thread I was just too damn drunk to type it. Thanks for helping me out with that buddy.
he's gonna be like a case of herpes. Just when you think he's finally gone, he shows back up at the most inopportune times.
Why? Isn't the goal for the Dolphins to win more football games by making the best football decisions possible, not validating or discrediting Jeff Ireland?
what makes you think the offensive line debacle was Parcell's fault & not Sparano's fault? looks to me like he walked away after Sparano screwed things up with the line & insisted on starting Henne. seems I recall a few comments made to that effect... think about it. they were in open disagreement on these issues
I agree having said that: could be, should be aren't enough it all begins on the offensive line I would not assume we have potential franchise, pro-bowl quality players @ those positions on the current roster Incognito and Garner are not proven commodities @ left guard & center bring in two linesmen that are already top tier or top draft potential to build on then they can compete competition is the elixir of success
Thank you for bringing that up...Iam not gonna let my former admiration for the man change how I lost respect for him and how he conducted himself, and his goals as our President of football operations....If Tony and Irish come out of this and succeed and have our futures back, than I will apologize.
HUH ? I'd say Bill swung and missed on Merling, Pat White, and most likely Henne. Jury is still out on Odrick. That is not a great track record.
then he's made a bunch of BAD decisions the last two years, because we are 14-18 in that span of time.
Not necessarily, and one cannot play at "oh, 08 doesn't count" as it is a part of his track record like it or not.
Thing is, are we, or are we not, deviating from Parcells blueprint, and if we are, is he simply accepting it, and willing to advise in whatever transition its going to take? Was his ongoing influence with the team, made known to Daboll prior to his acceptance of OC? If not, and if Bill simply called Ireland out of the blue last week, his sudden inclusion, and thus influence in the Draft room, could reflect a significant conflict of interest with Daboll, not to mention the wrench it could throw, in the newly etablished working relationship between Sparano and Daboll. I wouldn't have a problem with Parcells merely advising Sparano in his coaching decisions, or ideas in his organizational approach, but a ticket to the War Room, unless we've been completely out of the loop, regarding their relationship with Parcells, seems to me inappropriate to say the least, at this point. Otoh, in the unusual event that Ireland possibly phoned Parcells out of the blue, in some personal state of mental overload, or concern of buckling under the pressure, and believes he needs his support, then so be it. Whatever the case, don't approach our draft flying solo, on the brink of a nervous breakdown.
