Guy I know has a dog that's 16 yrs old and has cancer. The dog isn't in pain and still lives a relatively full life. The guy has had the dog since it was a puppy. His wife hates dogs and has pushed him to put it down for awhile. He's always refused. He goes away on business for a few days and gets a call from his vet. The vet called him when his wife brought the dog in to be put down. So she tried to have his dog killed behind his back.

He believes this is a divorcable offense and I agree.

    Curious what others think.

Divorceable? Certainly, but then again you can get divorced for pretty much any reason.

Of course, if she'll go behind his back about this, what else would she do behind his back?

FTR, I didn't mean from a legal standpoint. I was asking on more of a principle standpoint.

If my wife tried that crap I honestly don't how I could trust her again, I'd would very consider either dumping her or bring her to the vet to have her put down. Don't ever mess my dogs man.

Well, considering my second statement I'd have to guess I agree that it is from a principle standpoint.

That is just wrong on so many levels. To even attempt this, would be a deal breaker. That woman is evil.

I totally agree that it is a divorceable offense. My wife agrees, too, and she really doesn't like dogs, either.

Bros before hoes applies to dogs, too. ;)

    I didn't know my ex-wife had remarried.

This is one of those rare cases in which I would be perfectly fine if the guy put a serious beatdown on this *****.

As far as I'm concerned, it'd be worth the arrest.

I'm a dog lover and this ***** certainly pissed me off going behind her husband's back trying to kill the dog he's had and loved his entire life. However, I'd need to know a little more about this situation before I call it a divorce-able offense. How long have they been together and how has their relationship been up to this point? Either way, she needs to be punished somehow. What a horrible thing to do.

Also, something no one has mentioned yet...that's a tremendous job by the vet calling him first before going though with it. Kudos to them.

IMO the divorce would be based on a lack of trust. The wife knew he didn't want the dog put down. The dog was something he obviously cared a ton about and she went behind his back to destroy it. I thought that maybe the dog took a turn for the worse but if that had happened then she would have called her husband. I just don't see wanting to be married to somebody you couldn't trust.

It is a trust issue all the way. Maybe when he gets old, she'll put him down too.

I would have the wife's mother put down behind her back and then make the wife take one in the butt.

Assuming she has never done anything else to warrant a divorce, and assuming that other than this instance he is happy with his wife, he should sit down with her and have a heart to heart on what a lousy thing she did and how she violated his trust. At the end of that conversation, if she didn't admit complete fault and remorse, I'd file for divorce.

Now if he has other issues with her and has been thinking about a way out, I'd ride this one straight to my attorney. It's the perfect out.

I hear you, but IMO, this is on par with infidelity. They are both about a betrayal of trust. There's no getting that back once its gone.

Trust is hard to gain back, so I hear you. But it's not impossible. Again, that one conversation should be able to answer that question. Complete remorse and total admission of guilt. Everyone makes mistakes.

For me, if she didn't know how important the dog was first, that's a mistake. To plot, plan and carry out the deceit (a deceit that is designed to kill a being another person loved) is unforgivable like cheating. This was a premeditated act of spite & selfishness. She could apologize till she's blue in the face but how could that even be trusted? You'd never be able to leave the house without the dog without it in the back of your mind.

Just curious. How long have they been married? He had the dog before they were, correct? Also, what did the idiot wife plan on telling her husband when he got back? Rover just passed away in his sleep? I mean, she had to know he was going to find out.

I don't know if he can use this as a ground for divorce. But one thing that I know for sure is that his wife is violating animals right. If he wants he can sue his wife by attempting to kill his dog.

    I'd give her an option..

Option A: Divorce and a smack in the face

Option B: Spread peanut butter all over your cooch (after a nice douching because from the sound of this she probably has some stench down there) and repay the dog for your deed by allowing him to lick and slober all over the peanut butter pie you created. Rinse, wash and repeat until the entire jar has been consumed. Call it a day and bond with the dog. Problem solved!

What makes you think the peanut butter is enough to make the dog want to enjoy that pie? :shifty:
