For whatever it's worth, 10 wins would not have made the playoffs. I disagree on the other two as well.

I find it hard to believe that some believe so many getting this team into last year's playoffs. How would they have overcome play calling, OL, RB's, and injuries?

I could maybe see top tier QB's getting there but, not the second tier, which is all that is available.

You left out Marino and Griese. :) I am very surprised you believe the surrounding talent and coaching would have allowed sooo many QB's to lead this team into the playoffs.

if Newton / Gabbert can be had in round one @ 15, or Locker / Kaepernick in round 3 when we pick, I think its an open & shut case & we will do it. don't see us going up in the draft for any of them.
before you do the "pouncey number" on me, understand this draft is very light on offensive, exceptional talent & unusually well-stocked on quality defensive prospects. essentially it looks to be a defensive draft, which could create a sudden drop in offensive demand benefiting the Dolphins.
following the same line of thought, I still think Mike Pouncey could fall as far as the third round in the draft.

sundry information about the above mentioned prospects:

    1) Cameron Newton, Auburn - Scouting Report
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 246.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
    Combine 40 Time: .
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Hand: .
Projected Round (2011): Top 8 Pick.

    2) Blaine Gabbert, Missouri - Scouting Report
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 240.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
    Combine 40 Time: .
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Hand: .
Projected Round (2011): Top 10 Pick.

    3) Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 225.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
    Combine 40 Time: .
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Hand: 9 5/8.
    Projected Round (2011): 1-2.

    4) Jake Locker, QB, Washington - Scouting Report
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 228.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
    Combine 40 Time: .
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Hand: 9 7/8.
    Projected Round (2011): 2-3.

we should seriously consider foregoing the draft seeking a QB this year
& focus on the offensive line & running game
just too many holes to fill in one season, next year should be a better draft for QB's

I agree that their ST's sucked big time. However, if you're going to give the Dolphins those 42 points you then must give back all the ST's points given up back to all of the other teams. I haven't done the numbers, but I would suspect that they would still fall below the top 10 and closer to 14th if that happened.

Don't get me wrong. I think our defense is on the right track. I think it can only get better. They are young, talented and well coached. However, last season they gave up too many points and too many big plays. Add in the fact that the offensive playcalling was horrible, the ST's sucked, the running game wasn't there, blocking was sub par most of the season and injuries to key players were rampant and you have the recipe for a 7-9 season no matter who the QB was.

because imo, a lot of the things you speak of are directly related to bad QB play..

Folks? all last season I kept saying on this board, ''when is the game going to slow down for Henne''?....It never did...all during the year he was patting and getting his footwork confused...This dudes feet are not catching up to the speed of the NFL game..and its been 3 years.

It just amazes me people will discount any argument for keeping Henne. Pure desparation. Its called panic, we have panicked for 7 years. Henne has started 2 years, yes he needs to turn teh corner, but he id show some promise that a real OC and QB coach should be able to bring out. People look at options and only see the strengths of those players but ignore weaknesses in order to achieve teh goal of getting rid of Henne, because that is teh goal, you see that as the only way the Fins improve, so that is the only choice. Trouble is, ask yourself why would the current team let them walk? Sure you have rare cases like SD had w/ Brees and Rivers. Remember all you naysayers, SD was saying the same thing about brees 3 years in, look where he is now? SO Henne cant? Is he brees? Not saying that, what I am saying is dont panic and lose him, bring in options to compete and potentially beat him and allow HIM to show why he should be the guy. He counts 550K, no harm. Only harm is to egos when proven wrong. If proven right, well we did bring in other options so still no harm.

I should have explained better. I left the special teams returns points on and took off the int's returned for Td's, and the blocked FG return for a Td, which is not really a defensive stat. The returns are a form of defense.

So that's only 21 points I deducted and according to NFL.com's team stats it put them at #8 overall.

The pass defense yielded way too many big plays. Absolutely! But the run defense ranked tied for 4th in Td's given up.

If We Were to get a Quarterback this Offseason
DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET CHRISTIAN PONDER
I Have A Really Good Feeling about this guy

People talk about "oh can he stay healthy"
Remember that guy who was drafted last year i think his name was ummm Sam Bradford who had a similar "problem" I Wonder what happened with that kid.

    Christian Ponder is OUR GUY!
