I would love to see this combo this season. However, many don't think very highly of Fasano, which is surprising. He can't get down the field and drops too many passes is what I've been hearing. Let's confuse the issue with some facts.

Last year, Fasano was thrown to 55 times, catching 39. He averaged 13.5 yards per catch, which was #5 of all NFL TE's. V Davis had 16.3, Gates had 15.6, Boss had 15.2, and Dreessen had 14.4. That's it.

Fasano also had 5.4 YAC's, whitch is great, two dropped passes, and is a top 5 blocker.

Shockey was thrown to 56 times, catching 41. He averaged 10 yards per catch, 2.9 YAC, and dropped 3 passes. He is not a blocker but, is bring the altitude of attitude.

I really want this pair. Last season, our "second TE" caught a pass in week 14 or so. This duo gives Henne so much more security and options.

Add in Haynos, as a 3rd TE, and we should be in great shape at TE.

Well, Fasano's problem, besides not being flashy, is he does not create long plays SB, his career long is 30 yds.

3 yrs in Miami and his longest play went for 30 yds that is hard to do much with down the field.

I thought Miami already signed Fasano to a contract extention.

If Shockey is a Dolphin the better comparison would be with Shockey and umm, the other guys.

The averages don't lie Padre. Hard to go down the field when you're mostly blocking and having a 0 as a second TE.

Averages do not lie, they also do not tell the whole truth.

And I agree with Aqua, Henning would have went jumbo packages constantly with Fasano and presumably Shockey.

Don't be surprised if Shockey surfaces elsewhere though, he is trying to get a deal so he is being responsible for shopping himself around to teams that want to kick the tires.

Shockey wants to be here. True story. He will sign if Ireland is fair. Fact.

Shockey worst season was better than Fasano's best season. The only question with Shockey is he has gtten banged up.....sounds like Shockey has just been signed by us!!!!!. I am listening to ESPN2 with the guy substituting for Scott Van Pelt......and Clayton will be on soon with more news about this.

Heard the same thing, but it was not announced, I tweeted it but am glad did not start a thread based on it.

Adding Cox and Shockey hopefully will turn up the Dolphins Attitudes.

I don't think the problem is Fasano, he is a pretty well rounded TE. Sure he could use some speed but otherwise I think he's a good TE. Henning is gone now and I'm excited to see if we use Fasano more in our offense. The addition of Shockey would or should I say could be a very good thing. If Shockey plays well, that will open up plenty of different options in the offense. Of course if Henne or whoever doesn't play well it won't make a difference

There's no way we can do worse than than what we have. My only questions would be can Shockey stay healthy? And is he OK w/ being a backup?

I think that is one of the holdups GMJ, Fasano is making 3 million, Shockey was going to make 4.6 million, the Saints wanted him to take a paycut but wanted him back, we would have a hard time paying him more than Fasano is being paid.

Basically, Shockey knows what the Saints want to offer him and "we" have to decide if we wish to match or exceed that offer, and of course another team could enter the mix, which is why it can be until next week before he signed, if he is signed at all.
