So owners and union bickering over millions of dollars is ok. But a player trying to make sure he haas a job when this is all over is a no-no. To me this is another blow to a once proud league.

Not Salguero's fault. Henne really should have checked before putting air under that one.

That said, it is a dumb rule. Dumb dumb rule.

Actually, its pretty sad when the reporters dont know facts...Henne was the one who organized the offense to learn Daboll's system. THAT IS ALLOWED as long as it was off team location which it is.

"What Henne is allowed to do if a lockout commences is organize workouts on his own.

He said that players have found a venue to conduct offseason practice sessions.

“That’s when I’ll try to help install the offense and get the guys on the right page, because who knows how long this could last?” Henne said. “Hopefully a lot of guys will come back and we can work out and build some bonding and camaraderie there.”

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed that the Dolphins will not face disciplinary action for new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's recent teaching sessions with Chad Henne.

The NFL has reminded teams of the rules, which prohibit coaches and players meeting for football work until at least March. The same rules prevented Rams OC Josh McDaniels from getting a head start with Sam Bradford. The league doesn't seem to be "overly concerned" with the issue, and the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington reports "many" quarterbacks met with new coaches over the past month.

I do not think Chads deication or loyality to his team mates and the organization has ever been questioned. I knock him to but I will be the first one to give him fist pumps if he succeeds in 2011 and will admit I was really very wrong.

That's what makes me want to see Chad succeed more than anything. He really comes across as a good kid, and it's not like he has attitude issues like Ryan Leaf. If he did I'd probably be indifferent towards him.

any qb whoses trying to be a starter in this league is doing exactly this.

The unfair part comes when you start to think about the Colts, Saints, Patriots, etc. They don't even need coaches. Peyton can run the whole practice himself in a high school gym, and since hes peyton, the entire team would show up without question.

There's been a lot of Henne hate this season, but you got to give him credit, he wants to see this team be the best it can be, and wants to prove to himself, his teammates, the FO, and us that he's the right man for the job. He knows this year is likely his last shot to do so and isn't about to let some Owners vs Players strife get in the way.

This looks like a mountain out of a molehill. The rule clarification in that National Football Post post only refers to activities done at a club's facilities. Players can organize elsewhere without wrongdoing. Heck, Daboll and Dorrell could quiz Henne about the new offense over lunch at Publix. That's why the league hasn't punished anyone. Hard to prove, harder to enforce.

I'm glad Henne is trying to run voluntary workouts during the shutdown. During the long, ugly strike in 1982, the Dolphins were able to bring in a good amount of players to keep up the practice tempo. I remember it being said after that season that the two teams who worked the hardest during the strike were the ones who wound up facing each other in the Super Bowl: Miami and the Washington Redskins.

As others have pointed out this was blown way out of proportion by an idiot Miami Herald journalist we all know and "love".

In reality it was all good news about Daboll and Henne.
Especially the dedication Henne is showing. Planning to take the reigns and schedule his own workouts. That's a leader if he can pull it off. I don't care if some players get their feathers ruffled or not over it.

No knock against the Dolphins franchise at all.
It's another knotch in the idiot belt for the sportswriters in S. FL.
The reaction about Henne organizing his own workouts during a lockout, as another poster put it, "is a knock on a once proud league"

He can work on his play fakes with his RBs. Oh wait, we have no running backs signed do we ? I seriously, seriousl doubt team menbers are going to be willing to practice when their boss has locked the doors and as I said, one major area of concern is the accomplishment of play fakes both on hennes part and our RBs part. Both parties were HORRIBLE at play fakes. I guess he can get a couple of blow up dolls and move them around on pulleys as RBs.

Same with Oline practicing plays. Long is recovering from surgery, Carey is rehabbing bad knees , Incognito is not signed. That leaves Berger and Jerry to practice with IF they even want to particpate. Considering the relationship between Marshal and Henne, no way Marshal goes. Maybe Bess or Hartline, not sure there either.

All in all it would be Henne, Berger, Jerry, Bess , Hartline and two blow up dolls as RBs. Great.

Strike is one thing, this is an all out lock out by the owners. Owners could care less if there is football in 2011. They made their money outside of football in order to pay for the team. These are human beings folks, not machines. Their bosses are about to lock the doors on them and then they go back to work out ? If they get injured they are screwed as their bosses are cutting off their insurance too. There is always Cobra for them but I seriously doubt many team members are going to participate in any drills whatsoever, especially the ones that are not signed. Cannot blame them either.

Eh, just depends, look at it this way, Henne has been in the NFL going into yr #4 now, whatever they were telling him to do in terms of play fakes clearly hasn't worked anyway.

Maybe Marino can teach him..yeah right, he'd just throw the ball anyway, everyone knew it..

Dude you just WANT to be negative about everything.
Now that the wind popped out of the balloon for charges being brought against the Phins for breaking rules you're moving back to another angle. Maybe Henne dosen't get other players to join him in self scheduled workouts. So what. The fact Henne is concentrating on improving himself and his team while a number of the players in the league are only focused on the prospect of adding more millions to their bank account is a positive enough sign.

On another note, a QB can practice play fakes in his own backyard alone.
Don't know where you're trying to go with that tirade.

Well, it is not just the play fakes, it is doing them correctly, David Lee may have been a WC innovator, as a Qb coach he kinda sucked CR.

Bess played Rb in HS, and we should have enough young, hungry, bubble players to be willing to stop by the Qb's house this summer and futz around practicing..the real key is doing it right, bad practice makes bad game habits.

To bad Bernie Kosar is working for the Patriots, he could be a huge help to Henne as Bernie is possibly the only Qb who Henne could beat in a foot race so Bernie should be able to offer some pointers.

No I am not. Do you honestly believe any player that is not signed is going to go to a mini camp held by Chad Henne ? Honestly, thats stupid. As far as Marshal, hell, he did not like Henne during the season when they were getting paid, now he is going to take time off and do it for free ? LOL I DON'T THINK SO.

This is reality Amigo. If you want make believe, fire up your Madden and go for it.

Stop with stating fact. Henne will make Bravehearts quest to free Scotland look like childs play at his backyard mini camps. The will put helmets on the blowup doll RBs to make it more real :)

You do realize that unofficial activities such as this happen all the time?

You think bubble guys like J Pruitt or Brooks Foster would not like the chance to get some run with the likely starting qb?

Think Kory Sheets doesn't know he is on the bubble as it is prior to the Draft?

How about Henne was the best man at Pat Cobbs' Wedding?

well, i'm getting what i wanted .... Henne to work out with the offense and WRs this offseason. Will see how it pans out - but it did help Sanchez, at least at the start of the season for the JESTS.

I can't say where Henne will lead us (and i know what most will say) .... but i will say - this year, if'n there is a year; will not be as bad as last with him. But, this does not change the fact that i want Kaepernick in the fold ....

Unfortunately, Mando desperately wants to have his name in a byline breaking some kind of ground breaking news....he's the little slimy reporter always hiding under a desk to eavesdrop on a juicy conversation. No more, no less.

Most of you guys are right in picking out the real story, and that is Chad Henne's enthusiasm with getting the team together to practice. I get the sense that Henne for the first time is REALLY excited about the offense we are going to run....he said it was very similar to what he ran in Michigan. We've all seen what the kid CAN do ..... at times he can shred a defense in ways we havent seen in a long time in South Florida.

Now if these *******s can just quit sniveling over their millions and get a CBA signed....maybe we just might have something really spicey cooking up in South Florida!!!

Im of the same opinion with Ponder. It will serve us well to get a QB like one of those two to develop even if Henne can get the ship going in the right direction.
