It's a stadium. It has a field, seats, rest rooms and concessions. It has parking. Why should we have to spend property taxes to build a faux Taj Mahal? Do you want to build a Seminole Hard Rock Casino-like place with your hard-earned dollars? Enough of the league types getting in bed with the politicians. NO PUBLIC DOLLARS.

Put two and two together. There's nothing to do in the area and the area is dangerous, therefore, no one would want to hang around the area. Not before, during or after.

I'm acting the way I am because you look like a ***** in your picture and back it up with stupid*** talk... it's not unexpected.... if you look like you live in a dumpster, garbage is probably gonna come out of your mouth every time you open it.

He's got a hat, so he's stupid? Your contributions to this thread were already pretty dubious, but that's really amazing.

So you think his hat is stupid? That's not what I said at all lol.

This kid and I have a week long spat that I imagine will end as soon as her cycle does.

    Stay out of it.

Ummm dude...the Cardinals went 5-11 in 2005 (the last season in Sun Devil Stadium) and also went 5-11 in 2006 (the first season in University of Phoenix Stadium). Average attendance for the 64,000 seat stadium in 2006 was 63,603. The final year (2005) in Sun Devil Stadium was 50,129.

    Yeah, terrible example.

We have a chance to fu$# this up 2 different ways...1, we add 250 million to no life stadium, the morgue, the corporate feel stadium, the cancer that it is, and 2, we do get the go ahead to build a new one and it not have intimacy and crowd noise built into the spec..

You guys gotta promise me one thing, if we do ever get the money to build a new one, you'll be with me trying to get the suits to understand that this subject, considering our history, is most important to us to be built the right way.?

I'm sure that anyone in the Dolphins higher-ups that have been around for both the OB and JRS realizes that the latter was a mistake and that the former is what a football stadium is supposed to be.

By building a multi-purpose facility, you please no one and screw everyone.

The Dolphins and Marlins are known to have a crummy facility in both NFL and MLB circles... I don't know how it is for soccer, but given the large latin-american population of Miami, if it were any good, there would be a MLS team there.

I defy anyone to name a good multipurpose stadium outside of Madison Square Garden.

Yes, it's absolutely a terrible example. The number fluctuates from year to year, first of all- that isn't being taken into consideration at all. Secondly, the increase came the same year a new coach was hired, and the Cardinals drafted a quarterback at the top of the draft. So you're dividing what, about a 10,000 person increase in between those factors?

Is there an emote where someones monocle flies off? 'Cause there really should be if not.

Maybe if the Dolphins, instead of being selfish for 15 years, would have helped the Marlins secure funds, and a new home 10 years ago, instead of forcing them to honor an extremely onerous and unfair rent agreement, the Marlins would have moved 8 years ago or more, and the funds for helping the Dolphins would be there at this time ?

That's what we always did when we were Seaon Ticket holders (1978-1989). Always used the Park & Ride from the FIU Campus on SW 107th Ave. Was the best to get there and back, no hassles or worries. Its for me the only way to go.

So the Dolphins are bad guys for not helping them move out and stop paying rent, and honoring a rent agreement that the Marlins voluntarily signed?

Seriously, I'm the biased one because of where I live(Despite the fact I dont actually live there huyuck huck) but stuff like that gets said presumably with a straight face? Even if I was a Marlins fanboy here I'd have a tough time stomaching something like that.

I love the Marlins. Are you suggesting that a pro MLB team having their own stadium is a dumbass idea? And what about the Phins fans clamoring for years to get the Marlins out of the Dolphins stadium? Now that they'll be gone, we want to criticize the way it was done? F that, they'll soon be gone leaving our infield intact, love it or leave it.

As far as our current stadium: No PSL's. I repeat, we have no PSL's. Why the Hell would anybody want a new stadium when the threat of having to purchase a PSL is a very real possibility?

Being a fan that actually goes to the games, unlike some in this thread who are clamoring for a new stadium, I say leave our stadium alone, it's fine the way it is.

It's not a dumbass idea for the Marlins to want a new stadium, and I'm quite happy the dirt infield will be no longer there... The location of the Marlins stadium was a dumbass idea for a team with rock-bottom attendance, and I don't like the fact that it's going to turn into a bigger debacle than it already is and poison the well for a team that actually has enough fans and financial impact on the area to justify public funds.

The true culprits are Huizenga & Mickey Arison (owner of the Heat). If they had been able to get along back in the late 1990's instead of two facilities being built (Triple A for the Heat in downtown Miami, and Sunrise for the Panthers in west Broward) and each one not being on an ego trip and insisting his team be the main tenant, only one stadium would have been built, and then there would have been money for the Marlins to get their own place, in which ever county had not built the Panthers/Heat facility.

The Marlins never willingly agreed to stadium terms. They had no negotiations about it. It was a deal signed by Huizenga himself back in 1996 when he formed the Stadium Corp, and he owned both the Marlins and Dolphins. He designed the media contracts for the Marlins to be handled and paid to the stadium corporation. He also designed it so that the Marlins didn't get but around 25% of concession sales and ZERO, NADA, NOTHING from the parking revenues at any Marlins event. He did this so that he could say with a straight face, the Marlins (which he owned) didn't have enough revenue and needed their own stadium. He cooked the books (legally) and it backfired when he couldn't get public funding for his "Blockbuster Park" idea with the Broward County commission. Then because of that, and the fact he was unhappy with the labor agreement of 1994 (Huizenga and Reisdorf of the White Sox were the only two that refused to approve the new agreement of 1994) he decided to go all out & win a WS (or try his best) and in 1997 the Marlins went out and signed about 3 or 4 big name free agents. It worked and he won the WS and then sold the team in 1998 to John Henry (who now owns the Red Sox). Henry said he would build his own stadium, with his own money, but then didn't go through with it. Claimed he didn't have enough money to build a $ 300 million stadium, and then in 2002 he bought the Red Sox for $ 750 million) Then in came Jeffrey Loria in 2002.....the poorest owner in all of MLB. You should know the rest of the story.

Just found this link on twitter :

Marlins sell premium seats behind plate

    Associated Press

MIAMI -- A section of premium seats behind home plate in the Florida Marlins' new ballpark has sold out.
The Marlins said Monday that all 379 diamond club seats have been bought for when the team moves into the park next year. The team says a majority of dugout club seats behind the first- and third-base lines have been sold.
The Marlins have finished last in the National League in attendance for six consecutive seasons.

There is something to do in that area silly. It's called a football game. A game that is set up to be in it's own little world and it's even surrounded by a big fence with cops on every corner near the stadium so people feel less threatened in a neighborhood that's not dangerous to begin with.

The only garbage has came from you. Just gotta love these dudes on the internet trying to be bullies

You're the only one having a spat here. It seems that when someone responds to you, even in a civil manner (whether they're right or wrong ), you tend to get really defensive, making you bow up and start growling like someones going to steal your bone.

What you envision is not all that likely or realistic in today's environment. NFL owners don't leverage themselves to make a more enjoyable environment for the fans. They leverage themselves so they can charge more for tickets.

And then I responded by saying you missed the point (and further explained that Foxboro was a superior model) and instead of addressing what I actually said, you focused your retort on me (Keep in mind, Padre must've thought it was a pretty valid point to put his own two cents in.... I don't want to put words in his mouth nor do I want to drag him into this, but it seems like a logical assumption).

    That's real mature, "dude".

I can and will continue personal attacks too!

Hey, since you're the 30-something adult (I'm just a college student), why don't you think of a "grown-up" way to settle this dispute?

Let's go to the skatepark and freestyle. I'm not sure I could beat an Ozzy-540, but I could try! Or no, wait! Let's go dumpster diving in Miami Gardens to see who can catch the most venerial diseases... BETTER YET! Let's see who can spend more time on here to get the most "rep power" and "buttons"!!!!

This is gonna be righteously gnarly!

(On a side note, if you wanna do the freestyle, let's post the vids on your myspace and let the phins community vote!)

No, I get it. Stephen Ross wants to be able to collect $500K+ just to lease a suite, not even including game tickets. He wants to sell a pizza for $50. He wants to raise the average season ticket price by 30%.

He can't sell that by creating another Orange Bowl. Nobody is paying $1M for a luxury suite because the stadium provides a college atmosphere. People pay $1M for a luxury suite because its luxurious as ****, over-the-top, and impresses people who don't even care to watch a football game.

No, you responded by acting like someone said something stupid. Unless of course when you said dangerous area, you meant to say something else because there is nothing, absolutely, nothing else it could mean! I could have cared less if you were comparing Gillette Stadium to the moon and yes I read it. I was explaining that the area JRS is in is not dangerous.

I don't think you'll be personally attacking me for long. I mean, I wish you wouldn't do it because I don't want people thrown out of here because they want to have a spat with me. I know the mods like to let things work themselves out but you'll only get away with it for so long. I mean if you wish to keep pawing at me just stay within the TOS and things will be fine. You don't have to like me.

Just for your information, I am not having much of a dispute with you. I disagreed with one thing you said, and you got all mad about it. Notice that you called me all kinds of things and I didn't bring them up? The one thing I don't dig, is when you do things like..........................over there..........insinuating stupidty.

  32. Hurricane

I did it because everyone else in the thread got it and the entire thread segued into extra-stadium amenities, but instead of developing an opinion of your own, you called me out based on the last thread you got upset with me in.

It's not my fault you jumped the gun, focused only on what I had to say and felt compelled to respond on an impulse.

I'm flattered you hold my posts in that high of a regard, but it's no way to conduct yourself on a forum, when you have anywhere from 1 to 10 different conversations going on between dozens of people.

Thoughts may have been misconstrued (and corrected), conversations may have moved on, etc, etc.

(By the way, no one, mod or otherwise, has said anything to me about my conduct other than yourself, so come on down from your high horse, Walker. Even if it was up to you and you kicked me off here, I could care less. It's a minimal part of my life. Rep powers and fist pumps mean zilch to me)

  33. Ozzy

    Ozzy Premium Member Luxury Box

Everyone else in the thread got what? See now you need to go back and read the thread again. The post where someone else was debating with you about it not being a dangerous place. That's when I chimmed in and provided a good reason as to why it's not. Out in the middle of nowhere? I said that, but dangerous? No! The only gun that was jumped was by YOU. I didn't even remotely put anything in my post that called you out. I just said that you were incorrect and provided the perfect reason as to why.

As for the other BS. I told you in a nice way the I wish you wouldn't attack me or call me names because it will only last so long before you're told about it. And it's because I wouldn't want anyone banned from here, and especially if it had something to do with me. So there is no high horse on my end. This is a pretty good forum, and if you don't care for me, don't let it ruin your stay here.

  34. Hurricane

    Hurricane Guest

Whatever. The last time danger was mentioned was in post 60 when I defended my own life experiences of being in rough neighborhoods.

By the time you butted in at post 73, we had moved on 100% and focused down on the reasoning of having a stadium centrally located in Miami-Dade county, rather than between Palm Beach, Broward and MD.

If you'd care to know the specifics, you can go back and look. I (and Disgustipate) know what we said. We said it.

At this point, we're in a circular argument about why we're arguing, so let's just bury the hatchet, because honestly, I'm tired of this. I was wrong, you were wrong, I don't care. I signed up to talk about the Dolphins, not this.

You can keep arguing if you want, but I'm going to pretend like I just met you.............now.
