I just found this in the Sun Sentinel and thought it would be cool to share

Tim Robbie, son of former Dolphins owner Jim Robbie, and former President of the Dolphins, has been named the President of the soccer team Fort Lauderdale Strikers, which is the current reincarnation of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the 70's and 80's owned by Joe Robbie. They're home opener is April 9th at Lockhart.

Link doesn't work but thats cool, Florida needed a MLS (i'm assuming) team. Now just to see if they can compete.

Edit: after 2 seconds of searching it isn't MLS but North American Soccer League. Never heard of it.

The NASL is the league that Pele, and all those famous guys in the 70's played in. Now its the 2nd division of US Soccer. If Miami gets good crowds this year, they'll be back in the MLS in a couple of years

Yeah the largest sport in the entire world. Who cares.

I would enjoy going to the games and having a team to support but here in Orlando not much to do sports wise other than the Magic who I hate. Long drive to watch a Soccer game.

I grew up watching the Strikers......going to Lockhart for games was awsome....I remember Jan Van Beveren, Teofelo Cubias (spelling?), Brian Kid....man those were good times....

I even had the red, black, yellow jerseys.....

Is this going to be for MLS?

Have you ever watched rugby ? It's an amazing sport, and the father of our football. Magner's League in Ireland, Wales & Scotland, Aviva Premiership in England, Top 14 in France, Super Rugby in Austrailia, New Zealand & South Africa, not mention the 13 man game of the NRL in Australia & New Zealand and Super League in England, France & Spain. I'll give you some clips from You Tube......

Remember in rugby, no pads, no helmuts & no cups.....REAL MEN PLAY RUGBY !

I got turned on to this game about 4 years ago, and now its almost about to overtake baseball as my 2nd favorite sport.

The rowdies are back. Orlando has a team that plays in a different league and if the Strikers get good attendancr, they'll be in MLS by 2013. Tim robbie will be talking at 640AM radio at 9:45 AM
