    To my colleagues,

It is clear to me that a question of ethical practice has been raised in light of my recent activity. I fully understand the concern expressed by fellow GMs. Retracting bids was never something I intended on doing. I truly didn't think that issue would ever arise. Upon releasing Peyton Manning, an estimated resigning salary was made based on the teams eligible for bidding. It was estimated that it would cost me between $20-25M to resign Manning, leaving me an extra $12-17M to spend elsewhere. This move was made out of desperation, in an attempt to advance my franchise. When the Redskins decided to make a "just for fun" bid of $28M, this cut significantly into my projected budget. This forced me to do something I didn't want to do, but still was within the guidelines of GM league free agency policy. I apologize for the disruption this caused in the bidding process of a few highly sought after players. I assure you these practices were done as a last resort in good faith, and not out of disregard for my fellow colleagues. I wish you all good luck in the remaining events. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    [IMG]

He says in his own statement that "retracting bids was not something I intended on doing." Yet later stats that what he did was still in the guidelines of the GM free agency policy. When will he learn to read rule # 8.

Rule 8. Bids cannot be retracted

Gish prior to this whole debacle the Titans were in my top 5, more than likely top 3 teams in contention for GM of the year. But after this debacle you're slightly above the guys who quit before ever really getting started.

Only you could take a top 3 finish and flush it down the toilet. Nice work!

whatever. nothing i did made any impact on another team or broke a rule. in the end i made the right move and saved $7M. i would have saved much more and avoided this controversy if not for sean playing the role of antagonist.

what does Buffalo have to do with this? Ralph Wilson is too cheap to get into that kind of bid.

wrong. he acted on his own. what i meant was my finding a loop hole in rule #6 didnt change anything for anyone. all it did was expedite my bid by a few hours.

What loophole, you didn't have more than ten bids that I recalled. You only broke rule 8, but retracting bids and tried to hide it by actually deleting your previous post and putting in void, hence preventing GiK to see your actual bids. Shame on you. At least I was open about my retraction and put out what I had bid, and the reprecussions -shakes head-

i wasnt trying to hide anything. like i said before, this impacted absolutely nothing. stop crying about something that effected nothing. i got manning fair and square. stop trying to make it look like i cheated to get manning. i would have got him either way.

what we should be focusing on is how your false bids on manning prevented me from using the cap money i saved from resigning manning by dragging out the process illegally for a few extra days. you are the only one who broke the rules, by over $10M.

it's really very simple. Retracting/voiding bids is against the rules. PERIOD. To say it's not is lying. That being said, it's done and there is nothing else we can do, so to talk about it is worthless. We all know the rules, I'm sure during the voting process that will be taken into account. Lets move on and enjoy the rest of the game...

Yeah youre right, and rule #6 said that having 10 or more open bids makes all bids void. All I would have had to do was make a few more bids and they are all voided, then rebid on Manning. At the time this was being talked about I told GIK i would do that if he wanted me to, but the same can be accomplished by simply stating that exact message. I didnt break any rules. The rule was changed so you dont have to worry about this happening again. NOT THAT IT CHANGED ANYTHING. I like how you guys are making it out to seem like this had any impact whatsoever on anything.

To be fair, I think I learned something from this. I learned to change the ten bid rule... No longer will all your bids be retracted. Instead only your most recent bids will be retracted to put you at a total of 10 bids. Same goes for going over the cap. Only your most recent bids will be retracted to put you under your salary cap.

I'm not mad at what GISH did... I am thankful for him putting a magnifying glass on a few loopholes allowing me to fix them.

which is fine. I personally don't think gish or anyone else should expect their to not be any backlash. In fact Im willing to bet gish weighed that there would be backlash and decided to go ahead and do it anyways. In which case, he needs to man up, and take it. He manipulated the system. Plain and simple. I don't hear of very many people getting awards for doing so.
