How would no '11 Season affect the Dolphins?

Given the decertification of the union and subsequent lockout by the NFL, my thread is a question I would like to see the thoughts from our many smart posters on their opinion of how it will affect the Phins.

It gives us two drafts to get ready for 2012, no free agency to use for filling in holes? Could not playing a 2011 season help this team in any way? Will it hurt us? More than other teams?

With all the holes we have to fill, does having two drafts without a season help us or hurt us? On the one hand we obtain almost twice the players before we play our next season, on the other hand the players we select and those we already have under contract all will be "out of football" for an entire year. This has to be a bad thing IMHO.

It most certainly cannot be helpful to installing Daboll's new offensive system, no?
I felt like being in their second season under Nolan's defensive schemes would help our defense, does that go away?

Our big need at QB, is the QB class better in 2012 than this draft? I assume if no season is played, all the teams would pick in the same position next year (2012) that we do this draft?

In the 2012 draft are there any speedster WR's, Polomaulu type strong safety's, superior ILB's or other positions that are stronger in 2012 than this year that would help us in the 2012 season?

I figure with the pending lockout, this might be a subject folks would be interested in voicing some opinions on. I most certainly would enjoy reading those pinions. Flame on.

Not to sure how this lockout works but if we pick up a few heads we would be in better shape, Question is will or draft picks be able to practice ?

or come 2012 will they be rusty and lost.

I believe we're one of the younger teams in the league, so we might weather the storm better than most. Guys like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady only have a few MVP caliber years left and, by extension, a shot at the Superbowl. To lose a year would be devastating for their teams.

Older clubs probably have the most to lose. I imagine the Patroits, Vikings, Redskins, Cowboys, etc. might take a step back

Well we could claim we tied for first in the division! A Major improvement over the last two seasons! Tony would probable get a 5 year extension as well!

Just means we don't win the division or make the play-offs (again) in 2011... and save on expenses as well as a bunch of over-exuberant fist-pumps along the way.

i see no chance that there isn't football this year .... may not be a 'full' season - but it will undoubtedly happen. Players can't afford to not have a paycheck, and some owners can afford to have a work stoppage for over a year.

If this is potentially a partial season, then it might be wise to draft "best player available" throughout so that we can increase our team's overall talent level...... and then address any remaining needs in 2012.

I'd probably go after guys with great work ethic whom I'm confident will not become complacent and lazy during time off.

we'll be better off than the majority of teams that have established, aging veterans to contend with during an unproductive empty season

No 2011 season might mean grabbing defensive end, JJ Watt, if he's available b/c Langford will be a FA next year, and Starks will have 1 season left under contract..... and Odrick's injury history makes him a question mark.

If there was no season I don't know if anyone would really benifit, that is why they will play, even if a few games are lost everyone knows it's all about money.

Patriots are younger than the Dolphins I believe. Tom Brady may be older, but most of the team is younger, especially on defense.

If the owners can somehow be allowed to hire replacement players like in 1987 for the season it greatly improves our odds of winning the Super Bowl.

Jake, not sure about that .... for players under contract -- we are very, very young ....... without Ricky, CP, Fergie, and Al Harris - we only have 1 player even close to 10 or more years .... Will Allen. I would 'guess' our average is no more than 4 years at most.

I really no longer care. Those we draft can't be talked to or signed, there is no FA period, and the Players and Owners are acting like spoiled brats fighting over who will play with the most Monopoly money.

I have stopped having any NFL related expense in my budget and will continue to do so until further notice. If there is even one missed game I'm thru with the whole process and will only watch what is on local TV if I happen to be home at that time. This sport will never again be the end all of my life Aug. thru Feb. Sorry but thats how I feel.

I would definitely trade down as much as possible and try and trade for top picks next year. With 2 years to develop, all the value is 3rd round and lower!
