http://gamescom.gamespot.com/story/6273910/dragon-age-ii-updated-hands-on?tag=topslot;thumb;4 For the several Dragon Age fans on here. I'm reconsidering giving this game another shot. ' I just found it too difficult, couldn't effectively win battles. Part 2 looks to be pretty amazing though.
I thought DA was pretty easy on the easy difficulty. Medium can be challenging though for those that don't have a lot of experience with party based RPG's. Back to the topic, can't wait for Dragon Age 2. Dragon Age was one of my favorite games of all time. Great modding community, great gameplay. Loved that it offered a challenge as opposed to games like Oblivion where it was so easy it bored me at times.
Enjoying this game. Less complex than the first one, but more fun to play for the less harcore RPG gamers. Graphics are a step up from the first one and the characters are almost as compelling.
Bioware is catering to the mass market and it shows...but the games are still outstanding even with less depth.
is it running the same as the first game as far as gameplay and engine? i'm guessing yes. I really liked the first game, then when I got the Awakening add-on, i just couldn't play past the first 5 or 10 minutes for some reason. I realize add-ons are essential just more of what you liked, they're not all that different, but for some reason I found myself INCREDIBLY bored by it. so i put it down for a long time (months). I just tried again the other day and again I just couldn't get into it, which stinks bc I really did like the game at first. I'm scared if I start DA2 I'll just get bored again. On the same note, I've never been able to finish Oblivion. My first game got like 120 hours in, and never played through the storyline bc I was busy maxing out my character and got bored (which I suppose is my own fault). Also the game became way too easy. I tried again, got 100 hours in again, and stopped playing from boredom. Maybe the story just wasn't compelling me enough.
pennphinfan - judging by what you wrote about dragon age and oblivion, this game would probably be perfect for you.
The difficulty curve on Dragon Age II is, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, SUPER HARD, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, HARD, SUPER HARD, HARD
I've started playing it on Hard. Then when I get stuck at a certain spot i switch it to normal to get past it. I feel it's like cheating but at least the game flows.
I installed it and haven't even touched it yet. Kinda disappointed that there is no dual wielding warrior. Anyways, I made it up to Kirkwall and never touched it since. Too much hack and slash. I will give it another go but when I do game it is ArmA II Ace Mod 2.
I'm fairly disappointed with this. They pulled the same carbon copy environment shenanigans in mass effect side quests, there doesn't seem to be any difference to main quests, secondary quests, side quests or companion quests so I don't know why they are all labelled differently. -the lack of armor for companions is lame - 90% of "loot" is already labelled as trash and just clusters your bag and is worthless to sell? - you have to constantly be evil or nice to certain companions to get a perk, can't change it up or you'll stay in the middle and get nothing - only 3 areas in the game, 2 of which only differ by the brightness of the screen - characters aren't very compelling, nor is the story - using the first game references shouldn't be used as a crutch to make me forget the weaknesses of this game - Merrill is just a lame attempt to copy the salarian (mordan?) from ME2 - Most fights are structured the same way. there are some pros.. I like the crafting system and combat is smoother. That's about it though. This was mostly a miss
