$850,000 in debts for Jewelry and sports tickets.

We can say all we want about the inappropriate question from ireland but you can't fault the concern in all areas of this kid's life.

And, when Deion Sanders - about as much of a bleeding heart as there is (and I don't mean that derogatorily) - rips you for being untrustworthy ... Unreal.

He still has a chance to get it together, but this kind of hole can really put a player in a place of great compromise as well as borderline disaster. He may yet be a great player but the risk factor is at its zenith.

This is especially disturbing since he sloughed off his troubles last year as overblown.

The bottom line is, when you slough off that you have problems - that is your biggest problem. As C.S. Lewis once put it, a man's most "fatal flaw" is his inability to see his "fatal flaw."

He's an *******, down to his core. And while others argued that the reports of bad behavior and caring less about his job than about stylin' didn't mean anything, I told you he was bad news—and I'm really damned glad we didn't make the mistake of drafting him.

But hey, keep making excuses for this piece of ****; people like him live off that ****.

    Oh boo ****ing hoo.
He is rich, talented and he has all the things going for him. He is in a dark place because he can't find the freaking ON switch. Walking around with baggy *** pants, cutting in line, not paying for jewelry. The guy thinks he is hot ****. You didnt see Adrian Peterson, or Chris Johnson do that after being successful early in their careers. Why? Because they have some common sense. This guy is a moron, and no matter how talented you are, a dumbass is still a dumbass.

Shame really, the guy is so talented. I hope he can get it together for his sake, but its hard to change this kind of behavior.

There are those who are born on the wrong side of the tracks (being poor) that become good people because of those who lovingly nurtured them and kept them on the straight and narrow. Others had the misfortune to miss out on a strong upbringing and whatever they acheve will only be because of an Iron will. Sad to say but Dez Bryant will never make it out of that dark hole, why? He has no guide lines to go by thus no Iron will and if he can't even listen to someone like Sanders he is truly lost! Another Pac Man Jones waiting to happen. So sad!

I'd take a Santonio Holmes who smokes the occasional weed in the offseason over some simp who can't even function in everyday society when his life consists of playing football for milliiiiiions.

OJ Simpson was in a real dark place, through many moments in his life.

This kid happens to be immature and has a habit of stealing ****. Let's not blow this out of proportion.

$850,000 in jewelery debt. The things athletes do with their money. And that is exactly why young athletes should be required to attend financial planning classes.

"Black people can be rich. There are rich black people. But you'll never see a "wealthy" black person. Why? Well, a white man with some money will buy a Wal-Mart. Start a business. He will then become wealthy. Black people think that Shaq is wealthy. No, the white man who signs Shaq's check is wealthy. Shaq is rich. Black people will never be wealthy. Why? Because when black people get a little money do you know what they buy?

    Jewels. And big rims.

A white guy builds a business and a black guy buys a diamond encrusted pacifier!"

Yea it would be so much fun to have millions of dollars, realizing that after spening all that time looking forward to being rich, that being poor was not the reason for the misery, thus money will not solve all your problems.

Imagine reaching your dreams and still feeling empty and miserable.

Not saying that is the case, however money does not buy happiness. Studies show that after the bills can be paid the amount of money you make has little effect to how happy you are.

lol If you aren't saying this is the case then what's your point?

Do you really think Dez Bryant has that kind of deep-thinking mentality? Obv not. And I can't see how anyone could think so.

    So how is this relevant?

What other excuses can we make for him? Maybe he was dropped on his head as baby, ate paint chips or grew up under powerlines?

All of which would be better excuses than he just realized money wasn't everything after spending 800k on jewelery and not paying for it.

My point it is, the money is meaningless to the coversation. Just by having money doesn't make his life awesome.

You think that mentality is deep? It is pretty basic. Theory: Poor = misery, Money = happiness.
    Reality: Get money, still miserable.
Result: Aw I am still sad.

I am not making excuses for him. If he is in a dark place, he is in a dark place. Having 800k in jewelry just makes it so he can wear bling in is dark place.

Yea, it'd really suck to never have to worry about paying a mortgage again and basically having your family set for life.

Certainly no reason to be happy about that.

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure as **** buys opportunity and the freedom to do whatever you want in this country (to an extent).

If Dez isn't happy about that then he should just sign his checks over to someone who actually needs the money or could do something positive with it.

I am not saying it does't bring opportunity and freedom.

However if you are miserable, getting money just gets rid of one of your excues for being miserable.

It is naive to believe that money solves misery.

What's so miserable about that man's life?

If we're going to throw a pity party for him then I want more of an explanation than Deion Sanders saying he's in a dark place.

Unfortunately there's truth to this, and there's a very unfair and derogatory phrase that I won't mention that describes this lifestyle. And it shouldn't apply to just black people. I've known PLENTY of white people who have terrible money management skills, finance everything they own, live paycheck to paycheck, etc. Hell, once upon a time I was one of them. Chris Rock is making a joke, but some people absolutely think that jewelry, automobiles, other expensive toys are necessary status symbols. Folks who are financially educated understand it's all about net worth, income producing assets, savings, etc. The league is taking steps to help young players understand the importance of money management skills and financial planning, but more needs to be done, in my opinion.

And it's also naive to think that simple-minded people don't throw out the, "oh mentally I'm so miserable bull****" as an excuse to make whatever poor decisions they want and not have to deal with the consequences.

That is one of the symptoms of being miserable. Happy well adjusted people generally don't make very poor decisions and when they do, they deal with the consequences.

Where has Dez Bryant say he is miserable?

Absolutely. Miserable people who come into money are going to remain miserable. Mental problems, depression, anxiety, whatever might be going on in someone's life who is miserable isn't going to just disappear because of money. It's liable to make things worse, because now those problems are forced under the microscope especially when talking about athletes always under the public eye.

On the flip side, I think people who are already happy will remain happy and probably enjoy life more with extra cash.

I am not trying to talk for Dez Bryant. I do not know why you think I am.

My entire point is simple. Having 800,000 dollars to pay for jewelry does not make someone happy. period. To believe having a bunch of money means that the person should be happy is naive.

I have to agree with you on this one Dupree.

When I was younger and struggled to pay bills all I ever thought would make me happy was if my bills were paid. Well, I'm now in the position that if I wanted to I could retire. I have no debt, no mortgage, no car payments, no nothing except monthly bills. Well, I am paying some medical stuff because the wife is preggo...but anyhow, once I had "made it" I thought things would magically get better. They didn't. I had to make myself happy. Do things that I enjoyed etc etc. The funny thing is, if I had known this when I was "poor" I would have been just as happy as I am now. Albeit with more stress because of the bills situation.

Bc having that much money makes your life dramatically easier.

I don't care who you are or what issues you have, not having to worry about all the bull**** that comes from lack of money is a huge weight off your shoulders and like I said, the opportunities it brings are unparalled. Especially when you consider that all he had to do for that money was get drafted.

My point is why the hell should anyone feel sorry for a kid who's biggest problem is he's too much of a dumbass to listen to anyone's advice or learn from his own mistakes?

I don't care if Dez is happy. If he's too stupid to realize what he has and the fact that he could pretty much do whatever he wants, then maybe he doesn't deserve to be happy.
