31 is not young but its not old either, still plenty of rubber left on those tires
I think a second or third round pick would be perfect, @ 15 its a stretch but doable
if we want to compete in the near future, this is the way to go

A high draft pick & 11 million per season for a declining QB who was only marginally better than Henne ($550,000) last year?

I'm wondering how many of the guys in favor of a deal like that actually saw Palmer play in 2010.

I don't think anyone is talking about paying him what his current contract calls for. I know I'm not. He'd obviously have to be willing to cut a new deal. And, my guess is he'd be very open to it to simply get out of Cincy. Having said that, I realize that's purely conjecture on my part.

I saw him play...and I'd be OK with a deal.

You've got to understand there's more dynamics to Palmer's play than just him. His offensive line isn't that good, OC Bob Bratkowski's scheme was one of, if not the worst offense in football...it was worse than Dan Henning's. That's just the plain truth of it. And he had to throw to T.O. and Chad...his production went up at the end of the year when both were out of the lineup and he had to throw to Andre Caldwell, Jerome Simpson, and Jordan Shipley. This is just to be fair to Palmer, he's still got the ability. You just have to look through a bit of muddy water.

But, in the end, Carson Palmer's not going to go anywhere except retirement at this point.

Move Carson Palmer to a nice golf resort on the coast in Southern California. Thats the only place Carson Palmer will be in 2011.

I thought Dan Hennings scheme was the worst in football. Wow, was I wrong.

Mike Brown is too stupid to even get a 3rd out of Palmer, he will just let him retire...he IS that stupid.

Mike Brown is far from stupid, Bull headed ? absolutely but stupid, no. He has had other players demand to be traded or else and he has stood firm and never gave in. He is not about to do it now. It could be the first pick of the draft and Brown would not do it. Besdies, no players can be traded until there is a CBA and it looks like there will not be one before the draft. So, to all the trade experts, please, explain to us normal folk how this trade is even possible to happen. ( I seriously would like to hear someone try to explain this but no one will because its impossible)

How would you compare his play w/ Henne's? IMO the diff was much smaller than what you'd expect given their respective pedigrees, experience level & salary.

I cant say I disagree w/ any of that. What I can say is that Henne had to deal w/ all of that & more. Inconsistent OL play, no running game, injuries at WR & TE, bad play calling etc. And I'm more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to a 2nd year starter than I am to a guy who's been a starter for 8 years.

I agree. If Brown caves to one guys demands he may have a mutiny on his hands b/c lets face it, no one REALLY wants to play/live in Cincinnati.

I hear all these excuses, bad oline (not really) bad rb's(not really) bad WR's (not really) bad Def. (I dont think so) Bad play calling (probably) but you point all those things to Henne's lack of performance last year. Anyone ever think that maybe Henne stunk so bad he that made everyone else look bad?

We could not run the ball cause we could not get the safeties out of the box. Last time I played I dont remember a safety being a lineman's responsibility. Hence not even the wildcat could be effective. It does not matter how fast your wr is if he cant get the ball even in one on one. Brandon Marshall you can only run a route right into double coverage and have the ball bounce off of your hands into theirs so many times. I am sorry but for me it comes down to plain and simple Henne does not have it and I dont think he can learn those skills before its too late. Who is going to pay him that kind of money for something he should have already known as a 2nd round pick coming from a big school?

Really, I think we had one of the top rb tandems the best LT in an above average line and a good enough wr corp. Defense is making serious strides but was average atleast last season. D could have been better if they were not always on the field. Brings me to Henne vs Henning? A coordinator can only do so much if he is handcuffed by a subpar signal caller. I guess we may find out this year.....

Atleast we have seen Palmer play some great football so he has a few less questions in my book. I mean really did anyone on that team have a good year?
