With the calendar turning over to the month of April, and the draft just a few weeks away, I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we could all make our draft day predictions. Then we could revisit after the draft and see how we all did. And, it can be any prediction you want to make, whether it's Dolphins related or not.

For example, say all the experts are predicting Gabbert will go #1 overall to Carolina, but you think it will be Newton. Or, maybe you think another team will trade up to take one of the top QB prospects #1 overall. Whatever you think might happen, regardless of how realistic or how outlandish it may sound. And, take it as far as you want (i.e., a full seven round mock for the 'Phins). Or, keep it simple and just predict who our first draft pick will be. No rules, just throw it out there, then we'll see how it all plays out on draft day.

So, who wants to go first?

Dolphins trade down to somewhere between 23 and 31, with likely trade partners being the Ravens, Seahawks, Eagles in that order.
With our first or second pick we take a QB (likely target Mallett).
Our other first or second pick will either be a WR or OL.
If we don't take a WR there we will take one in the 3rd.
We won't pick a HB before the 3rd round, more likely it won't be until the 4th (I see us targeting Daniel Thomas and/or Kendall Hunter)
If we don't get a QB early on we take Tyron Taylor later on in the draft, if we get a QB early we don't take Taylor unless he is there real late.
    Overall I see us drafting:
    One QB
    Two HB's
    One WR
    Two OL
    One TE
Two players on Defense (probably DL if its between rounds 4-7 or LB if its between rounds 1-3).

I think this year the Phins stay at 15, but still draft for the trenches. Perhaps an OT like Carimi or Smith. They may target Pouncey or Watkins if they trade down, but I think they stay put unless they get a really, really enticing offer. Like Carson Palmer.

This is exactly what I see (however with the 2 defensive guys being a CB and OLB).

How? Unless you have an additional bold prediction that the lockout will end prior to the draft. I could get behind that!

Trade down to mid 20's ... pick up a late 2nd

I'd be very happy with this draft:

    1. QB Ponder or QB Mallet
    2. WR L. Hankerson or T. Young
    3. TE DJ Williams
    4. HB D. Locke

Then pick over what is left of the interior O-Lineman & maybe a project NT

I predict we will draft players. And ya know, that can be considered going out on a limb because of the current NFL labor situation.

I predict this year will be the first year Ireland doesn't draft someone from the Big 10 (Long - Michigan, Davis - Illinois, Odrick - Penn State) with our 1st round pick. You can all thank me when Gabe Carimi's name is called.

I used to think the lockout would end before the draft. Not any longer. I’m just offering the opinion that I think Ireland would trade down if it included Palmer.

Was hoping this thread would garner more interest. Oh well, here's the first of my predictions for draft day (er, night?).

The Dolphins WILL find a trade partner and trade down out of the #15 spot. SD and Denver both have extra second round picks to play with (as does NE, but I don't see a deal between them and us happening). Of course, any team could pony up their only second rounder. Then, there's always next year's and/or lower round draft pick considerations. I just think based on what happened last year, that appears to be this FO's MO. Maybe I'm predicting this because it's what I'm hoping for. But, I think there's a good chance it happens. So, that's my first prediction.

    More predictions to follow...

I predict your all nuts for thinking we can trade back into the 20's and still get Mallet.

Denver realizes they can take defensive linemen in the 2nd round and picks Von Miller.
