With the 155th pick in the 2011 GM League Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select ...

Owen Marecic, FB/ILB, Stanford

Throwback. That's the first description that comes to mind when discussing Owen Marecic. The former Team Captain played more snaps than any other player in FBS las season - mainly due to his versatility. Last season he started at both ILB and FB for the Cardinal, racking up over 50 tackles and scoring 5 TDs, winning the Paul Horning award in the process, which honors college football's most versatile player.

At this level, we won't ask him to be learning the linebacker spot. Instead, we'll be asking him to focus on his blocking and short yardage techniques. While the Chiefs primarily plan to use a spread option passing attack, there may be a time where we need to simply pound the ball for an inch or two. That's where Marecic comes in.

This guy is a tough, physical dude that's just as willing to engage on lead blocks as he is to take the handoff and fight for yardage. We envision using him as a classic lead blocker when the time arises. In addition, he can give us even more physicality when we need to run the ball. Lastly, his tough, aggressive streak will lend physicality to our special teams unit, where we suspect he will be an absolute monster.

Look around to other NFL teams, there's always overachievers. Guys who may not have the highest ceiling, but through their hard work make it on to the team. We feel that Marecic is one of those guys - a guy that just screams "Football player." We're excited to have him on our team.

With the 5th round comp pick, the Carolina Panthers select: CB DeMarcus Van Dyke, Miami (FL)

I don't have too many needs as of now, other than depth and that is exactly what Van Dyke will provide. He would be able to compete for the #4 or #5 job at the CB position, as well as participating on Special Teams. DeMarcus ran a 4.28 at the combine and has loads of athleticism.

He never really stood out at Miami (never started a full season either) and is only around 170 LBS, but he had some solid performances and I love his athleticism/potential for a 5th round comp pick.

Just adding to my already loaded secondary and defense.

With the 163rd pick in the 2011 GM League Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select ...

Denarius Moore, WR, Tennessee

We're very happy to add Moore to our core group of wide receivers, as we wanted to get faster as a unit. Moore has the straight line speed that makes him a natural deep threat in the NFL - he averaged 21 yards per catch playing in an inconsistent Tennessee offense. Like Luke Stocker, Moore emerges from college battle tested, having gone through 3 different offensive coordinators during his time at Rocky Top.

Take a look at the scouting report from NFLDraftScout.

Or, if you really want to go deep insde the numbers, here's a very detailed overview, presented by the underrated UniversalDraft.com

With both Javier Arenas and Dexter McCluster on the roster, we really aren't looking for more help in the return game, an area that Moore struggled with at Tennessee. Instead, we'll be using him primarily as a deep threat when we go four wide. Moore should also be able to contribute on special teams, as his straight line speed will be an asset in that area.

We're very excited to have him join the Chiefs.

With the 182nd pick in the 2011 GM League Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select ...

Frank Kearse, DT, Alabama A&M

Late in the draft it's all about looking for raw potential and guys who you think can develop into solid contributors down the road. For us, it was a no brainer to take Frank Kearse at this spot.

At 6'4 and 315 pounds, Kearse is a big physical guy who we will be grooming for the NT spot down the road, though with his height we could push him outside to the 5 technique if the need arises as well. Versatility is never a bad thing when you're looking for depth along the defensive line.

Because he's from a small school, Kearse is a bit unknown. You can take a look at his measurables and socuting report at Consensus Draft.

Kearse is a motivated and intelligent player. He was voted Team Captain last season, making second-team All-SWAC. He also is on course to graduate in May with a 3.2 GPA.

After a very solid Pro Day, which put him on the map of teams like the Ravens, Steelers, and Patriots, we started looking more closely at Kearse and came away impressed with what we saw. While he didn't face NFL-level competition at Alabama A&M, he still has the raw physical skills and talent to make the jump to the next level. We're willing to give him that opportunity.

With the 183rd pick of the draft, the Carolina Panthers select: NT, Anthony Gray- Southern Miss

At 6'0, 330 LBS, Gray has great size and strength for a NT position in a 3-4 defense. In 2010, he recorded 43 tackles, 5.5 for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Notable awards:

-2008: 2nd team- All Conference USA
-2010: Outland Trophy Pre Season watch list
-2010: Pre Season Conference USA First team (Coaches)
-2010: 2nd team- Conference USA (Coaches)

Pro Day stats:
40 yard dash: 5.17
Short Shuttle: 4.61
Three Cone Drill: 7.93
Vertical leap: 31.5 in
Broad Jump: 9-4"
225 Reps: 39

I liked Gray a lot more as the draft went along and felt that he was one of the few true NTs with potential. He will be able to come in and compete with Louis Ellis for the #2 job immediately.
