http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports/columnists/hyde/blog/2011/04/_position_by_position_draft.html Here you guys go. This time we talk about more than just quarterbacks. No, really.
So, we've met with all the QB's except TJ Yates? Well that settles it then. Meet your new Dolphins QB.
Very fun article. Thanks guys. What's cool is that it shows how, even though you guys are great at breaking down film and assessing players, you can all still have differing viewpoints, which IMO is what makes the NFL draft so much fun. If we get heated up here at times (me definitely included), then I'd love to be a fly on the wall of an NFL war room prior to the draft!! Those guys must come unhinged when a billion dollar franchise is at stake. lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's scratching his head over Carpenter getting little love. Good to hear that 2 of you are against Torrey Smith. The thoughts of trading back and drafting him made me cringe. Next year you'll have to break the backs down into 2 categories (every down & COP)
I'll go crazy if we reach for Ponder at 15 especially when he has injury issues http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1116559
The Clemson injury came making a tackle on DeAndre McDaniel. He played through much of the 2010 injuries.
I don't care if a trainer squirted Gatorade in his eye by mistake, missed games are missed games. I'm an FSU fan since the Peter Tom Willis-Casey Weldon days & I have to say, I just don't see it. A west coast QB maybe. But a Dolphin at pick 15? Nah. The guy plays recklessly, not with the ball, with his body. And if does that in the Pros he's not going to last long regardless of what system he's in. PS: If he hadnt thrown the pick, he wouldnt have had to tackle McDaniel in the first place .
Before people think we're the same person, I won't post my comment. I too was going to comment on him making a tackle.
Because he threw 4 interceptions while playing with broken ribs. So while it may interesting to jab at his interception total from that game but until that point he had 12 TD's & 1INT.
If he weren't spending so much time trying to tackle people, then maybe he wouldn't have broken ribs. Ok, I'm reaching here. lol.
glad you like Tony Dye from UCLA he should be pretty good this year. I take it his "good hip movement" came from his Hockey background. another bruin to look out for in the future is FS So. #1 Dietrich Riley.
I'm fairly certain that Chad Henne would not be lauded for throwing 4 (or 3) INTs in a game vs Clemson (or Cleveland) where he was playing with bad ribs (or a bad knee) .
Christian Ponder's got some of the same disease as Jake Locker. They seek too much contact. Ponder was a running quarterback in High School and he's still an option quarterback at FSU. There's a mentality he has to him, same as Locker...need to learn to not take contact. I think Cam Newton, Ryan Mallett and Blaine Gabbert will be more natural at trying not to take significant contact.
