I'm curious as to how everyone did in their 2010 mock drafts and Dolphin picks. Does anyone know how the draft experts fared and/or how forum picks fared? After doing well in our 08 and 09 drafts, I had Kindle as our pick. We not only passed on him with our first pick, the trade down, but in the 2nd round as well. If I had picked 100,000 times, I would have not picked Odrick and Misi.
You can check the Huddle Report if you wish. I know I missed on Gresham and the Missouri LB ATL took in the first last year. Can't remember his name in the life of me. That hurt my score, otherwise I did alright I thought.
I have no idea what "The Huddle Report" is but. glad you did well. What about the Phins, Odrick, and Misi?
Yeah, thats right, you did beat me. I was doing good until those two picks. I hate getting old. I still have bad feelings about those two picks. I ****ed that right up.
Well, we were talking to Jared Odrick around the Senior Bowl timewise and we mentioned we heard we were interested - he clammed up. The Draft Winds series has that. We spoke of Misi and IIRC correctly Chris brought him up. I called his pick the night before the 2nd round, but that was mostly about who was left at the position.
Don't feel bad, I have never been good at mocks, if I do get one right outside of the top 10, well, even a broke clock is right twice a day.
Honestly, I never would have selected Kindle. Misi I chose because he had the height, we'd met with him and he was what I considered the best left at the position. I said we'd take him the night after the first round. It wasn't like I had a crystal ball and called it 3 weeks before.
I've never been wrong on a mock draft yet. That's probably because i do mine afterward. I'm also 100% picking busts and booms 5 years after they're drafted.
Still, as I recall, the national media was saying that Kindle was the Phins pick an hour or so before the draft, and were sure we would take him in the second. Misi has had some criticism on the pass rush, and I thought Kindle, barring injury, would have been a better fit. What made you give Misi the edge?
Sean Weatherspoon. I was Atlanta in the GM league and zeroed in on him from Day 1, luckily McKay felt the same.
Here's mine: Round 1 (12) - OLB Jason Pierre-Paul 6046 270 USF (junior) Round 3 (73) - FS Reshad Jones 6012 214 Georgia (junior) Round 4 (110) - LB A.J. Edds 6035 246 Iowa Round 6 (173) - WR/KR Antonio Brown 5101 186 Central Michigan Round 6 (174) - ATH Joe Webb 6-4 223 UAB Round 6 (179) - CB Jamar Wall 5102 204 Texas Tech Round 7 (212) - OG Reggie Stephens 6-3 314 Iowa State Round 7 (219) - ILB Josh Hull 6026 237 Penn State Round 7 (252) - C Kevin Matthews 6-3 298 Texas A&M Obviously I was very happy about us drafting Edds in the 4th and Jones in the 5th. I also liked the John Jerry pick a lot. Still do. I believe Jerry is going to lock down one of the guard spots in 2011. I hope Odrick and Misi turn out to be better than Jason Pierre-Paul. Jury is still out. We really missed on Antonio Brown. I believe he would have been a much better addition than Nolan Carroll. Webb obviously made the Vikings' roster. Wall made the Eagles' roster (although he was drafted by the Cowboys). Stephens made the Bengals' roster. Hull made the Rams' roster. And Matthews made the Titans' roster (as an UDFA).
I agree on Jerry. It is seldom that a guy on the OL can come in and make an impact. Normally, the have to get stronger, and understand the guys on the other side are much better than what they have dealt with.
I know there was a contest on this site for who could get the most Dolphin picks right. I only remember b/c somebody congratulated me for how many I got, but I don't recall who I listed.
For me personally, I'd rather have a guy who is quietly solid and consistent over a guy who makes a draw dropping play one minute and then potentially gives up one the next.
I did a search, and found this thread. This the one you're referring to Raffy? http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...-Draft-Contest!!!&highlight=The+Phins+contest
With the trade back I had 2 scenarios in my mind that I couldn't decide between (could've flipped a coin for me): 1. Jahvid Best (or Rob Gronkowski) 2. Gronkowski (or Koa Misi) 3. Jacoby Ford or Mike Williams (didn't care who, just wanted one of them) 4. AJ Edds 5. LeGarrette Blount 5. Reshad Jones 7. Dekoda Watson 7. Probably too drunk at the time to remember.
No, it was the top 20 contest. Pick 20 players you think have a chance to be selected. Here's the thread: http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...-be-Dolphins....&highlight=2010+draft+contest
