Tell me Chris, when was the last time you heard one of these stories coming from NE, San Diego, Jax, or even losers like Cleveland ? Mike Holmgren would **** a cow if news like this came out.
last I heard, Ireland wasn't on the field during those collapses and doesn't coach the players, nor is he responsible for injuries. Our collapse, IMO, has everything to do with coaching and injuries and significantly less to do with Ireland and the administration.
Ok. Wrote the wrong thing lol. I can see why that comes off that way. Meant to say he's been pretty damn good in it and we are better with him in it. And here I thought I knew what you were talking about when you said you could get a decent OL. Oh lord.
You just don't read the stories is all. PFT hits all the teams, all the time. Your just focusing on the Dolphin stories. I mean just today they are reporting a Bucs assistant DUI, Ozzie Newsome's whiff on Sergio Kindle, A Falcons safety on multiple charges. There's nothing embarrassing about the Dalton situation at all (heck it only got 13 comments on PFT..that's a clear sign of a non issue).
Do you remember spy gate? Do you remember Vincent Jackson being suspended because of holding out for a contract? Do you remember the Panthers trading what would end up being the 1st overall in the 2nd round of this years draft for a hybrid QB from division 1AA? Rex Ryan and his foot fetish videos, mark sanchez eating hot dogs on the sidelines, tom brady getting hair plugs and wearing ugg boots, the bills possibly moving to toronoto or LA.....other teams have issues, it just seems more polarizing to you because you are a dolfan.
who cares? cam did it and got fired so it is better to hope and pray and think in your head if a candidate xan handle a situ rather try to actually find out as best u can? yeah stupid to try
look i am criticizing anyone, i just thibk we are so scarred as fans we get perception fever and panic jmo
Back on topic, I think it's incredibly embarassing for the dolphins to do something like this to Dalton. Like CK alluded to in another thread, is this REALLY what we are judging players on?! Are we going to truly make a draft decision based on some role play?!?! It's unreal to me.
It is my hope that the Dolphins use their pick in the first round to select Dalton. While he is a little shorter than some of the other QB's in the draft and his arm strength is not the same as a Mallet or some of the other QB's projected to be available with pick number 15. He appears to be a very accurate passer and he is extremely intelligent. He is being compared to Drew Brees and I would certainly be happy with the next Drew Brees here in Miami. As far as the methods used by the Dolphins to interview prospective players is concerned. If Dalton is the pick for the Dolphins, he really won't have to worry about the coaches and the GM beyond this coming season. With the schedule the Dolphins have in 2011, they will be lucky to win four games. So in 2012 Dalton will be the QB for a new coach and a new GM and hopefully a new offensive coordinator. I hope Dalton is the QB of the future for the Dolphins but since it is apparent that this GM and the coaching staff don't have a clue when it comes to picking the right player in the first round. It would not surprise me if Ireland takes a pass on Dalton and selects another defensive player in round one. Of course if Ireland screws up this draft, that would only give the next GM the opportunity to select Luck with the first pick in next years draft since the Dolphins appear to be headed in the direction of having a very high pick in next years draft.
Practice is nothing more than role play. Should teams stop practicing. Hell, coaches will pipe in crowd noise, wet the field down, hire sprinters to teach their DB's about angles...etc etc How is this any different?
Who gives a **** bottomline is they are a 7-9 team two years in a row.Bottomline is wins and losses!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rome wasnt built in a day. We were 1-15 a few years ago with literally NOTHING aside from Brown, Williams, Carey as legit starters and Paul Soliai as a raw unfinished product. Now we are a QB, RB, some interior OL work and possibly a secondary pass rusher away from being a legit contender. Look around the league...without being exceptionally lucky or finding a QB who can contribute in a big way instantly, any rebuild from 1-15 is a 4 year job especially when youre talking about having a salary cap. If we get better QB play you can point to 4 games and say we would have instantly won those games (Pitt, Cleveland, Detroit, Buffalo) and very possibly Chicago who we really played a strong defensive game against and just competent QB play may have put it as a 1 score game either way...
Comparing daboll yelling at a draft prospect to see how he reacts to our records is idiotic. Seriously.
I can't wait for the day one of these draftees flips the script... Mostly because, I think our HC and GM are just messing with kids for fun. I mean who honestly believes you're gonna get an honest reaction that way, right? "Am I being punked?...Ashton!?!"
While I agree that better QB play would improve the Dolphins. The problem is that right now it appears that Henne is going to once again be the starter next year and he has shown that he is not a capable starter in the NFL. Even if the Dolphins do draft a QB in the first round. This young QB will not be ready to step in and take over the position in his first year in the league. There are really no free agent QB's on the market that tingle my toes. The Dolphins also remain weak on offense on the offensive line and at running back. There is no way they will be able to upgrade all these positions in the draft or through free agency. They may not be as bad as the 1-15 team of four years ago, but it would not surprise me in the least if they don't end up with a worst record in 2011 than they had the past two seasons. In looking at their schedule. A record of 4-12 next year would not surprise me in the least.
No, its not. We're talking about how well the team has evaluated talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you think that the Dolphins since 2008 have done a bad job in this area I would absolutely love to see you justify it through side by side comparison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ummmm...and the bottom line STARTS with the players. Or are you saying that you wouldn't like to have P. Manning playing for the Dolphins?
yeah i think its important to see how a qb handles adversity. that they r searching answers to more than #'s can provide. as a leader how would you respond? you dont draft aguy on a hope and prayer, you try to gauge how he would handle it before u pick him, the situ happened to them and is n was divisive so they r addressing it, as they should.
Bottom line here is we have diva WR that we have to cater to. Otherwise you wouldn't see these sorts of tactics played out. It is really no different than Ireland asking Dez if his mom is a prostitute. It is all about the reaction.
Neither do I Lucky. You need to know. Dalton admitted he handled it wrong so the Dolphins got something valuable from it IMO.
Should have acted out a simulation of the OC (himself) Taking Dalton out of the game to call a play out of the Wildcat on 3rd and 14 from 32 yards away. Now, that'd be a lot more relevant.
Exactly my original point. Its just something that I have never heard of doing before. This kind of behavior may be a reason why he doesn't work for Holmgren or Belicek anymore.
LOL, the draftees are gonna need a human rights representative when they meet with the Dolphins. BTW- How great would it have been if Dalton immediately shouted "You're mom's a whore!" Then immediately dropped trou and dragged his *** against the carpet like a dog upon exiting.
ya because the patriots and jets have never had anything leaked to make us laugh at them... oh wait they have... patriots got caught cheating and the Ryans foot fetish... stupid things come out about every team
Everything you mentioned has something to do with gameday on the field activities.....seeing how he reacts to a diva reciever......really!? They met with him for one day, and they already were ok with how he did everything else? progressions, arm velocity, route trees, play book, pocket awareness.....i guess they ran out of stuff to test him on? I mean there are 30 more things i can think of that is more relevant to deciding whether or not to draft a quarterback, and i assure you, barging in roleplaying as a diva reciever is no where near the list.
Daboll should have asked him more important questions like: "Is your dad Ronald Mcdonald?" or "Does the carpet match the drapes?" and "How will Gingervitis effect your qb play?"
Just to play Devil's advocate here, when the Patriots did this to Tom Brady back in 2000, he replied with "Well **** you, guy. Sign with another team where you get the ball all the time and we'll go ahead win a bunch of Superbowls" And that's when the Patriots knew they had their guy.
It would not surprise me if Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano play the "meow" game with recruits, like they are in the movie "super troopers"
Jeff Ireland: Alright meow. Me and Tony have alot of stuff on our plate right meow. We are being scrutinized big time from our owner to get things done, not tomorrow, but right MEOW. Andy Dalton, look at me in the eyes right meow and tell me how you would handle the pressure of being the number one qb on this roster, and being the guy that could, right meow, take us to the promise land?!!? Andy Dalton: Uh....well.....hold on.....are you saying...me-........meow? Jeff Ireland: Am I saying meow?!?! Do i look like a cat to you boy? Do you see me jumping all nimbly-bimbly from limb to limb? Am I drinking milk from a saucer boy?! Andy Dalton: well....no.... Jeff Ireland: DO YOU SEE ME EATING MICE?!?! Andy Dalton: no! Jeff Ireland: alright meow......Brian Dabol is about to jump through this door behind me, wearing nothing but a BYU t-shirt riding a unicycle. I want you to watch him juggle bowling pins for exactly 48 seconds then tell me the capital of nebraska. Then and only then.....will we know if your right for the choosing of miami dolphins qb!!!!
