Trade 15th pick down to Bears for 29th pick and:

    Roy Helu RB Nebraska
    Sione Fua NT Stanford
    Dwayne Harris WR/KR ECU
    Zane Taylor C Utah

A I the only one who thinks a kid with a reputation for tossing back brewskies and rollin a few blunts w/ the homies should stay as far away from Miami as possible?

I mean, anyone who spends 4 years in college w/o drinking or getting high is either at BYU or VERY lame, but out of hundreds, even thousands of prospects, he's the one of the handful being dogged by rumors? Why? I get the feeling he wasn't very discreet, or did it to excess, or something that got him noticed.

Hell, I got wasted w/ Peter Warrick, Laverneus Coles, Tony Bryant, Corey Simon and several other FSU players, but it wasnt at the local pub where hundreds of people would notice if we had to drag one of them out of the bar, covered in their own dinner. College kids, athletes especially, get drunk, high, laid, all that good stuff, ALL THE TIME. But they don't get reputations for it 99.9% of the time. Why? It's called discretion, and common sense. Kinda hard to be the face of an NFL franchise w/o it.

If we could trade down and still get Mallet to me thats a good deal. It minimizes the risks if we move down and we get more picks. I don't know what exactly are reasons why rumors follow him around, no one has ever actually said what he is accused of being or doing, its weird to me. He has tons of 'character' issues but none of them are known? I wish someone would enlighten me about them because I haven't read anything that actually says what they are other than an arrest for being 'gasp' drunk.

If we could trade the #15 pick in round 1 for a 3rd round pick and a 4th round pick I'd be all over it. Most of the high profile QB's in this draft will be long gone at #15 because there are too many teams picking ahead of us that are in need.

this. I like Mallett as a player and I think he has an incredible arm, but he has way too many off the field questions, to go along with a few on the field questions.

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

To be fair, Marino got a reputation as a bit of a coke-head and that worked out okay for us... :chuckle:

I won't disagree w/ that, at all. He may be the next Marino, he may not. Can't say I like his odds though.

Hopefully "their" major wasn't English because it's be the plural, as in, doing something with their "lives", in the above sentence. Other than that, I still disagree....LOLz.

The only thing is, who started the rumors? Seems to me he was being pretty discrete. You say that you've been wasted with a few FSU players, but what if you had come out and leaked something before their respected drafts? Or, what if you made up a little story about one of those guys? Except for his PI (public intox, which really is no big deal) he's been squeeky clean. It SEEMS his coaches, teammates, and friends all like the guy.

At this point in time, right before the draft, I don't believe too much when it comes to rumors. Now, I'm not sold on Mallett (or any other QB really), but I do think he's one of the better QB's of this draft and he has tons of talent potential.
